Welcome to the video tutorial on using the Connecticut Educator Certification System (CECS) to apply for certification. This video provides step-by-step instructions and important information regarding the application process. To begin the process, please log into your CECS account with your username and password. After you log in, please review the application overview and click the "Acknowledge and Continue" button to proceed. Click the "Your Profile" link on the upper left hand corner of the of the page to update your user profile and contact information. Please ensure the contents of this page are accurate. Next, select the "Contact Info" tab and enter your home address, phone number, and a personal email address. Your email address is used by the Bureau for all official communication, after you submit your application. Please review of the contents of this page, and click the "Acknowledge and Continue" button to proceed with completing the application. Select the certificate or position type you are applying for. After selecting the type, the page will change to show you a list of available endorsements for the selected type. Select the endorsement you would like to apply for. Once you locate the endorsement you would like to apply for, click on it and it will be added to your application. You must select at least one endorsement for your application. You can select more than one endorsement for your application. Add additional endorsements as required prior to moving on to the next screen. Please review the information of your personal profile and verify the accuracy of it. Add any additional information before moving on to the next screen. Please note that corrections to some of this information can only be done by sending an email to the Bureau of Certification. Please verify your street address, email address and add any missing information before moving on to the next screen. Please read and answer each conviction question. Please note: If you answer yes to any of the conviction questions, you are required to mail a signed statement of explanation to the Bureau of Certification before our office will process your application. On the Education History page you will find the question "Do you have college/university coursework or/degree that are not shown above?" Please select yes and a drop down will appear. In the drop down portion of the screen, please identify the state & country in which the college is located, the full name of the institution, your major field of study, what type of degree you received (e.g. BA or BS), provide a yes or no response if you graduated from the institution, what year you graduated, and if you completed an educator preparation program for certification at the institution. Once you save the contents of the page, the system will ask you again if you have any college or university coursework or degree that are not shown above.
