library here we'll show you how to apply online for unemployment insurance benefits first you go to myunemployment.nj.gov once there this is pretty much how the website would look like you can see up here myunemployment.nj.gov and there are some information that what doesn't mean if my claim is pending or not payable at this time some other informations like my claim shows zero dollars in the weekly benefit rate of wbr and how can i reset uh your pen or password and some other tools and information for this guide we're going to talk about filing a claim as a new user now what is unemployment insurance unemployment insurance is a program that gives financial support to people who lose their jobs through no fault of their own to qualify for unemployment insurance benefits you must meet all the eligibility requirements of the new jersey unemployment compensation law those who meet the requirements may receive benefit for up to 26 weeks during a one year period here is more information um about some frequently asked questions that covet 19 and your benefits or how affects your income more information about how to create an account self-employed and the next uh part of the page you can see it like you start your job search getting training options how to add a dependent for your to your claim if they qualify attend schedule appointments it's very important that you do that if you miss them you may be ineligible for benefit so every time you have an appointment it's very important that you stick to it and attend to the time it was given now here how do i remain eligible to keep getting weekly benefits or in order to receive benefits and continue to get them each week you must also be able to work actively seeking work available for work and no refuse any offer of suitable work so in short you must be looking for a new job and in a position to accept a job offer when it comes and if you won't be able to work because you have to care for family members or you are physically unable to accept work you might not be eligible to receive benefits to create an account to apply online for unemployment insurance benefits you'll need to create an account in our system on the steps below explains the process so here step number one you need to have an email address so you're gonna give the unemployment insurance when you're applying online like this guide is showing you you need to have an email address you need to have um id and all that stuff i say once you give the email address the second is that they're going to send you a verification email with a link like step 2 check your email after you hit send we'll send you a link to verify your email address same that's verification process this link is only active for 60 minutes however don't wait until it's almost over for this activation to be working because you know you need to do this right away so as soon as you hit send go and check your emails you're gonna have the email there with the link like it says before and the email will be sent from the unemployment insurance like it says here but we're gonna see that in the inbox at the email as soon as we get to that point and you might want to add and uh add that email address to your safe sender meaning you can send you can add the address to your contacts that way it won't go into junk mail or spam the first step is click the account verification link then complete your account registration and then you file your claim you if you don't have an email address you can go to google.com it says gmail um apply for that you can go to microsoft it says outlook live.com owa or you can go to yahoo.com and then apply for that a valid cell phone number is required to create an email account once you have gathered all this information that you have created your email make sure you write this information down your email and your password for your email however keep handy a pen a pencil and a piece of paper because you're gonna need to write down more information as you go along with this uh registration to file your claim so you're gonna click up here now that you have everything ready to apply and then like step one set you write down your email address make sure it's spelled correctly that everything is the way it's supposed to be and then click send the next page after you click send the next page says an email with a registration link link has been sent to the address you enter please note this link will remain active for 60 minutes however don't wait too long you click send they send you an email please just go right away to your email and check your inbox once you check your inbox this is what it looks like dash nor reply or not reply at dot dol dot nj.gov the partner labor of workforce development account registration you open your account and here is the link all this say paragraph with codes and numbers and whatever all this blue block of symbols is the link so you click here and it's going to bring you to this part create your account you can see it's very simple your first name you don't have to put your middle initial if you don't have one that's fine it doesn't matter but everything every question that has an asterisk every question that has an asterisk needs to be answered so here your first name here then your last name day of birth astrid right this one here all those then date of birth and this format then you need to confirm their date of birth that your social security number no dashes no periods no anything you only the numbers should type the numbers and then again only the numbers are your social security number the same apply for your phone number only the numbers no dashes no periods or anything just the numbers here again you need to enter your email address confirm your email address make sure it's spelled right correctly and here you're going to write down at this point and that piece of paper that you have i should have at this point pen or pencil write down a password that is going to be unique for your unemployment insurance must contain a lower case at least one upper case at least one number and at least one of these symbols i sang at least because you need eight characters in these eight characters you have to have a lowercase uppercase a number and a special symbol you can write down whatever you want put it on that piece of paper do not lose the paper because again you're gonna need this password to work with your unemployment insurance and get your benefits once everything is fine you're gonna click here where it says save to create your account it's gonna bring you to this page and this site has recently been updated to accommodate clients filing for those with military federal government and wages earned outside new jersey so what it is is the it's telling you that you are employed in new jersey at any time within the last 18 months you worked for the federal government for and again for at least 18 months or you serve in the military for at least 18 months if you reside outside the united states you can call union city freehold cumberland or if you're out of state you call the aaa number here and if this part does not apply to you in any way you go down here and you have to have the new jersey driver's lands license number or non-driver photo identification identification card number if available like i said before before pencil pen and paper your social security number if you are not a citizen you will need your alien registration documentation issued by the us citizen and immigration services these include your alien registration type and number country of origin and your employment authorization card or permanent resident card if authorized to work in the united states if you wish to have your benefits directly deposited to your bank you need your bank information so at this point you should be gathering everything that you need according to this um requirements uh okay verification that you uh your employer or employers if you have more than one job in the last 18 months name the address telephone number beginning and dates of employment and reasonable separation if you have military employment a copy of your dd214 if you had federal employment your copy of the sf-8 or sf-50 if available this is more information about your privacy and security identity identity verification program once you have read all this you can start filing a claim right over here and again finally climb home let's get started click continue a question all questions marked with an asterisk are required if you do not answer of any of them your application will not be processed so everything with an asterisk needs to be answer you can place important note here for you to read and find a claim and again here file a claim here's the all the question was the asterisk that you need to answer you currently reside in the united states also yes for this exercise for the this uh sample for you to be familiar with uh what you're going to encounter in this application um you read each one of these questions you are answer accordingly uh have you served in the united states military and the in the past 18 months or federal government in this case no one know if you are in the military of course you put yes because we are known the military and the federal government this one here is not including federal military employment do you have any out of state unemployed employment for those who live in new jersey and work in new york connecticut or pennsylvania or around anyway you if you were working outside new jersey you say yes and if you were a maritime employer in the last 18 months but you were on on the c on the seed you say yes and then you know give all the information that requires according to that if you are disabled are unable to work yes or no in this case we say no and then we click continue if you have a pen that was established for a prior claim please enter below click the i do not have a pin button if you do not have a pin so if you have done the unemployment before and you have a ping number you can just enter here and submit it otherwise leave it blank and click on i do not have a pen the information that you enter in the beginning like your social security number date of claim your birthday your first name your last name uh gender what is going to be taken for the questionnaire that you answered now here say please select applicable form or of identification id type new jersey driver's license issue id if you say none then you have to answer some other questions in here in the past 18 months have you worked under a name under a different name from above if you got married change your name that's what applies in this case when you work in new york city you live outside out of the state so it could be the other way around you lived in new york city connecticut or pennsylvania and then you work in new jersey so you can say yes since that's the case you were always in new jersey so now and then had you file unemployment insurance and stay older than new jersey in the past past 12 months yes or no and then you click continue here you're gonna enter your residence your address and then it can be verified and then click once you verify it will take you here if you have another phone number where the unemployment insurance can contact you you can enter here enter the number up here that is your main number the number that cell phone number whatever that you always answer uh you are a citizen or national united states yes or no um at your schedule for an appointment if you are scheduled for an appointment you need an interpreter if you need an interpreter you select here the language that you speak if the language that you speak other than english of course is not listed then you can type it here select the number of years education that you have completed here in this little arrow once you click there it's going to be a list of answers you answer the one that applies to you that says the number of years of education that you have then you have here what is your ethnic group you click again this little arrow there is a drop down drop down menu you can select the one that applies to you and then what is your race same thing you click here and select when you are working are you the primary main wage and earner and your household yes or no and then continue for this exercise we type the occupation as a warehouse and what is your job description you type it in here and then once you click the search it will bring you here so that's what you type in and then in the occupation you select which one of these choices from the unemployment insurance application applies to you so for this exercise we selected the first one once you select your occupation the script the best description here you click continue and again everything with the asterisk needs to be answered are you ready willing and able to immediately work full time of course you are you need a job so yes are you have you been a student of full-time attendant and educational institution within the last 18 months no are you currently enrolled in job training or college now if yes you have to say here what it is and the when the training started you can click here in this calendar and it will give you a choice that you can select if you want the ten percent of uh your federal income tax with health from your benefits yes or no do you wish to claim a dependency allowance yes that you have uh someone that you care care for and have to be responsible for that person then you say yes are you a member of a union yes or no if you are then it's going to tell you which union group is selected here you select here are you uh currently your register with vocational rehabilitation yes and now and you wish to receive your benefits payment how how sorry how do you wish to receive your benefit payment you click on this drop down and it will give you a menu in which you can select for this exercise we select direct deposit now once you select direct deposit it's going to ask you for the account type you click here and that's little arrows will be a checking account savings account you need a routing number you enter the routing number here again the routing number and your checking account will be the first set of numbers and the left side of your check you can see that number right there then you enter your account number which under check or would be the number in the middle the long number here in the middle and then you enter that number here and here to verified and then when everything is good you click continue new jersey employer or employers assets more than one so we click continue if this is the place where you worked uh how you work for the employer listed above yes click continue then you're going to enter their address if it's not already listed you enter the address the phone number if there's an extension number you put it right here when did you start working in this place and when was the last day of their employment then everything with the asterisk again so you're still employed by this employer now well that's why you are applying for the unemployment insurance are you self-employed or own a business yes or no are you a corporate officer or do you have five percent of more equitably equitable of debt interest for this employer yes or no are you related or to the owner or the this employer um you know yes or no it could be your husband your wife or brother i mean some kind of relation family business or whatever so in this case no nobody is related to the institution uh please select the reason for separation for this employer so here in this drop down menu you click on it and then you'll see the choices so for this exercise we selected laid off lack of work and then the uspec to be recalled by this employer so yes or no and in the case of covet 19 you know many uh places that are reopening are calling back their employees so you have to keep in mind if this is something that is going to be happening with you so you click continue and it's gonna give you the list of employers that you have and again if you have more than ne job it's gonna set here the employee name work and then if you missed an employer you can add another employer right here or if you were part of the military be besides having this this job this employer you can add a military employer if you only had one job like in this case so we can just go and click continue and here they're going to ask you the to enter the gross earrings earnings you have received from the city of paterson so your gross earning is the amount of money that you get before taxes after taxes would be your net before tax taxes is your growth so for this we put four thousand and then we click continue to hear since your last day worked have you collected this ability of workers compensation in this case no where you disable immediately before filing this unemployment insurance claim no so therefore the rest doesn't need to be answered so we click continue [Applause] you have your employer your pension paid if you apply for or are receiving any private or government pension or lump sum distribution or 401k not including social security benefits from any employer listed below please select the employer and click the update pension button below only the employer at that time only one employer at the time can be selected so here if you are getting a pension you click on it and then answer the questions accordingly um other pays if you receive or will receive holiday pay payment of lieu or notice vacation pay severance pay continuation pay or other pay of any period after your last day of work please click the add pay type and the button below for example as you finish working you got laid off but you have vacation time they say two weeks you add here the pay type and then you select the employer name let's say in this case city of paterson then the pay type vacation the amount that you get the period when it's going to start it's going to be two weeks so you put the first day of that period and then the last day of the after the second week if that's the only thing you have then you click continue and move forward here is the step in which you're going to submit your application but before you do that you're going to review it make sure that all the information is correct especially your email address and account numbers so without your social security they of the claim of birth legal name so you're gonna go through all this and you're gonna check yours to make sure that everything that you enter one was answered two is correct your address your mailing address uh there is residence address and there is mailing address because some people have po boxes so you need to keep that in mind anyway and then your personal information make sure then again the phone number is right your email is right um any other information that you enter your occupation so here all other questions you are ready and willing to work full-time and your the way you're gonna receive your benefit payment it's a debit card that we selected here so make sure the account type is right the routing number is correct the account number is right and of course the bank name the employment information the city of paterson when a start when it ended the reason for separation your gross earning amount and [Music] anyway if make sure that all the information that you have here is correct i'm gonna say a confirmation we don't get a confirmation in this exercise because and again this is an exercise not there is no uh they cannot give us a confirmation because we are not really applying for the unemployment insurance so once you click submit the page that you're gonna see is gonna be your confirmation that page you can print for your record okay so at this
