hey everybody Henry here so today I wanted to do a step-by-step tutorial on how to apply for the New Jersey unemployment insurance where do you go online and what do you do in light of the pandemic some self-employed or 1099 wage earners previously applied and were denied well now you can reapply and get approved there's a list of the criteria and if you meet any of those criterias you can get approved so here we go alright so we're here on the fresh browser we're in Google what I like to do is type in NJ unemployment like you see here the first link that comes up is the division of unemployment insurance my unemployment NJ gov so we're gonna click on that one and then if you've never filled out unemployment online what you would do is click here under new users register here if if you click on it it'll require you to put in an email and then hit Send it's gonna send you a link to your email where you would then click on the link and start the registration process from there we're not gonna start anything from here but that is what you have to do in order to create the user name and password if you haven't done so already give me a like on the video comment below and hit subscribe now if you are currently a user or an existing user that has used the online portal you would have the email and password so let's just use ours okay type in our password hey login and then the first thing you'll see is this menu on the side you'll have file a claim file or update direct deposit update address and telephone claiming curry and web 1099g which is for previous years if you had a 1099 in this case we want to click file a claim it oh it remains on this same screen so this would be assuming if you're going to open up a new claim we're gonna go down over here where it says file a claim we're going to hit the continue button over here then it says all the questions marked with an asterisk are required if you do not answer all of them your application will not be processed so we're gonna go down to file a claim over here it's gonna ask you for your PIN number so let's go right ahead it's omit all right so then these are the initial certification questions if you want to call it them but but it's file an additional or reassertion claim so it says please be advised that if your computer is idle for 30 minutes or more your session will timeout and your claim information will be lost if you exit for any reason before completing a application all your information will be lost all right so either way this is a the questions that they start asking has your address change if so then you're gonna have to update that and update your telephone number so additional reassertion questions it says here answer yes to question number one below if you were instructed to do so following completion of a claim for weekly unemployment benefits have you worked since the last filed a claim for benefits you put either yes or no in this case you put no and and obviously this this subsequent one does not get if it was yes you put where you work but if it was no you don't put anything are you ready and willing to work you need to play yes are you currently enrolled in job training we would put no all of these questions below do not apply so we just leave them as is then we go to four point one do you expect to receive a lump sum distribution of a pension if if no then we put no have you applied for are you receiving any private or government pension in the last 18 months in the case of most of you that would put it that's not including obviously you Social Security benefits like it says here so we would put no then we would put since your last day work have you collected disability or workers compensation again we would put no are you currently employed and then we would put no so then we would go down to to the bottom here that letting you know how would you like to receive your benefits if you're not claimed with benefits within the last 28 days and we're receiving benefits via direct deposit your direct deposit account has expired so in other words if you are somebody who have claimed previously but you know you were using a direct deposit it's you now have to re you re estate that information at this point it's just telling you that if you do if you do not choose a direct deposit they will you'll receive a direct deposit card so to say from Bank of America where you can actually cash out the benefits and so we're gonna hit continue and then obviously we didn't put any information already claim open but we we do want to let you know that this is how you would process the initial phase of the application it would be a certification right afterwards and then you would submit the information and wait for for a response which usually comes via email right away and then you can actually certify the following week so if this week is the week what's today Thursday we would have to wait till whatever our schedule is according to the assistance online it has a schedule and I'll tell us what day and time according to the last four digits of our social and then we would file at that time we would go and I'm gonna show you we would go here where it says certify for weekly benefits so you click on certify for weekly benefits it gives you if you scroll down the schedule so Monday's it tells you the Social Security numbers from 2003 ninety nine nine Tuesday's you have four thousand of $59.99 Wednesday's is six thousand and seventy nine ninety nine and so forth and then everybody else would have Friday and Saturday available now once once you establish what day in time is your schedule so it could be eight eight eight thirty of your socials between 2021 twenty four so that's on Mondays so then you would come at that time and you would click certify for weekly benefits this is a more or less an a statement of how to fill out your form and how to answer those questions they're telling you so they make it easy for you which is pretty nice they tell you how to answer questions one two three four all the way through seven which they asked were you able to able and available for work you're gonna say yes of course were you actively seeking work you're gonna say yes did you refuse any work you put no were you attending school or job training you're gonna say no and then after that did you receive holiday or vacation paid for the week beginning you know it's leaving open-ended because it's gonna change week to week but whatever the week begins and whatever the week ending and you're gonna put no are you receiving or have you applied for pension or any other retirement listed below so obviously if you should answer yes if you are currently receiving pension or other retirement benefits otherwise but know for the most part most of us is no did you work between the weeks stated depending on what it is between blank and blank so obviously you're gonna have to say yes or no so depending on whether it was a yes it's saying here if you did work yes and report that you earned if you know you will have not have work the following week immediately no later than Saturday to next week follow the steps to reopen reassert the claim if you have received holiday vacation or sick pay from an employer during this week so in other words if you already received in pay during a certain week you have to state that obviously and then reassert or open the claim or reopen the claim the following week so this is pretty nice because they're actually giving you a detailed detailed step-by-step here and it's presented to you then you click here to indicate that you read the statement you click here to put your social and then on the following pages once you put your social let's kind of go through the steps but I'm gonna fake the funk and make up a social that has to do with the time that I'm in right now we're on were Thursday 322 so we would be socials between 97 50 and 98 74 so I'm gonna make something up let's say one two three four five ninety ninety seven fifty okay we'll hit enter so then this is the page that comes in we'll hit continue and then you actually have to put in your your will hit continue no let's kind of show you so on this page you're gonna click over here where it says click to cling weakly and other unemployment benefits you're going to put your actual social the following page after that you're going to put your PIN number and then the page after that it's gonna come up with the actual certification form where you go in and actually answer those questions just like it said and the very first page like it says right over here so enter at number one number two number three all the way down to number seven all right guys now that's to file your weekly certification now what I do want to show you guys is the claim status if you have for whatever reason have been filing and certifying your your weekly claim and that you haven't had a deposit I would suggest to you to go over here where it says check claim status it's really quick like I said it's right here next to certify for weekly benefits there's no time restriction you can go in and you can put in your social you have to put it twice confirm it I'll put your date of birth twice and confirm it put your email and confirm the email and then your first and last name and then hit enter and then it'll give you a status so they'll tell you when did you open your claim when how much you were yours your weekly benefit what is the total of the benefit and then what is the next or the next week applicable to you to actually certify for benefits so this would be where you would go to check your status all right so I would like to indicate that it has been tough a lot of people have already told me that they've been having issues communicating on the phone or online I have googled YouTube people that have been successful in getting through its hit or miss but I would like to encourage you to just continue trying if you haven't gotten your deposit or if you haven't even been able to open up a new claim I would indicate to you just keep trying keep trying to keep trying the governor today is May 7 so I'm on the 4th on Monday the governor indicated that the he would extend the state of emergency for another 30 days so at this point it is a matter of people's livelihoods of being able to put food on the table and maintain their household expenses like rent utilities that kind of stuff so it is frustrating I can understand that but it to you I would say just keep trying because eventually once you have break through then it'll be all worth it so I hope that this today's video helped please indicate if if there's anything that I'm
