if you're someone who struggles with patience so that is not your forte then whoa i got the process for you the student visa process to enter france particularly as an american will test that and then some and not only will it test your patience it'll also give you a great nice beautiful introduction it's the notorious thing known as french [Music] bureaucracy hello beautiful people my name is savannah but on the internet i go by savvy c and welcome and welcome back to the sideways scoop today's video is going to take you guys along just walk you through the student visa process to live in france i'm here studying um for my master's in global communications at the american university of paris and to do so since i was accepted into a program that was longer than 90 days i needed a long stay student visa and to do that is a bit of a process but in this video let's break that down into three sections so i'm gonna break it down like a traffic light right so you know green is go not that hard yellow ooh so damn a little bit kind of you know a little back and forth some process and then red is like wait a minute so we're gonna break it down like that and let's get into this the green light of this process is campus france usa so just according to their website campus friends is ahem campus france usa is the french government agency that works with students in the us going to france for an academic program of 90 days or more is that you all right those keep watching keep watching them so for campus france you just go to their website which is campusfrance.org um when you get there there's like a ton of languages offered and you know this organization's global so just you know hit english hit you know the american flag identify yourself as such then you go to the etudum france enrollment procedure and then with that platform you'll make an account that you know you will log into and start this process of the application so for this for your email and then of course for your password but especially for your email pick something that you will use and i will have access to the whole time so if like for me i was applying here for graduate school so i wouldn't use my undergrad email because i wouldn't have access to it my full duration here and perhaps beyond so just have this create a little you know gmail i don't know whatever on the side so you have access to that email the entire time and to have to keep that out through the duration of this process having the same email address so it's just all in one centralized area underneath campus friends we're just two steps so step one listen french i'm gonna get a bunch of this i should have practiced jaffini and so for that you just simply indicate you know why you're studying in france and for what reason um i had to find the american university of paris put that i'm here for my master's and just fill that out really quick and then step two we will just say may information personnel uh for that that is when you fill out the bulk of the information that's where you know you start filling out you know email address your name um birthday nationality passport number which you will memorize your passport number after put it in for so many times um your last your um previous home hosted a hopes institution education um home id picture that's you know jpeg or png as you know more than 300 uh dpi dot dots per image stocks per inch or um 26 millimeter by 32 millimeter also put your residential address same with your email address for your residential address make sure it's something that you will have access to to receive mail and or you know digitally for me i didn't get anything mailed to me i did it all either i picked it up in person or it was shipped to me via email but um you might do an option where you'll ship your visa to you which i'll get to in the reds section of the video so just keep that in mind um and then again you know phone numbers they ask your level of french in your native language your education background a 250 word statement to build off what you used um basically for your statement of purpose to again to say like why i'm coming to france why france in particular is good for me why i want to come here and then you pay 205 u.s dollars to campus france and you'll submit all the proper work through uh doc box and then once you do all of that you will save a confirmation email from campusfrance and you need to save that email and have it both in english and in french for your later um in-person interview for the visa process which we'll talk about in part read the section so that is just the green part that is campus france says the first and easiest part of this whole process so after you apply to campusfrance usa you get your confirmation email you have your acceptance letter from your host institution you put those things together and get ready for the yellow stage of this process which is going to france visas and dealing with you know the french government slashing a french republic which you will get really familiar with once you live here so for that you go to france dash visas dot g o u v gov dot f r and you'll make a france visa account now again with this account like i said for campus france be sure that it's the same email address so it's just easy you have it all in one place and then you know you don't have to lose track of passwords and everything be sure to write passwords down somewhere in a safe place or i remember for this one had to be a very intricate password like it had to like the requirements for it were really intense so yeah in my notes i put put strong all caps password um and it'll be always acid you can't save your information so they're like not here which makes sense because it's a government website uh through this you have to just fill out a long stay visa application form and this again like the campus france it's you know just you know the the classic information they ask for you know name birthday nationality passport number um i think what else uh passport number oh your school uh this is when they asked you for if you don't at the moment have an address you can put your your host institution will tell you for aup they told us to put uh the school's address and that they will support you financially um i'm trying to think about what else oh you know your duration of your stay of course you know how long it's scheduled to happen uh things like that and you just fill all of that out and again you will keep this you know filled out for you you'll have this pdf saved so that'll be for the last step it'll be part of you know the big pack of paperwork for that last step um and the biggest thing with this you just make sure you fill out everything correctly double triple check with your host institution with your school it's a pretty lengthy form um and so if you know and unfortunately with this process if you do one wrong thing it's kind of hard to double back and course correct so just if you're unsure ask your host institution review and make sure you have everything line by line good to go um and then after you fill this part of the process out after you submit this part of your application in you're good to go on that front then you will schedule a visa employment with one of the nine vfs global centers in america in the states and here we are at the red light spit show cuz girl you're gonna need some practice you're gonna need some patience practice you're gonna submission some music to get through the final step which is the vfs french consulate interview don't be scared though have no fear your gross mvc is here okay so according to the website vfs global is an external agency responsible for managing all visa appointments in these application submissions across the us in nine cities in the consular jurisdictions now this is kind of confusing and something i learned i want us oh i'm like 99 sure there are more french indices in the states than nine but not all of them nor the city they're in have a vfs center so here are the cities they have nine locations atlanta boston chicago houston los angeles miami new york san francisco and washington d.c now i'm obviously very biased i'm from the dmv woo born dc but if you can go to dc because everything is processed through dsd dsc um through dc so if you can go there um so and two this really sucks and blows and again just tests your patience and you can also to kind of be a bit discriminatory for those who don't have the passive income to just so you know book a flight or drive to these places especially in covent but it is definitely doable make this plan now you're watching this now so hopefully ahead of time you have a heads up but if you live you know in hawaii if you live in you know alabama if you live in missouri like it's just it's hard to get to one of these cities if it's not near you so just you know try as best as you can to do so um it has to be in person and the second i'll break down all the documents you need to go with there but the interview has to be in person even with covid you have to schedule an appointment online through their database to their website and through that you know you book your time have your place and have all your documents together so a second you know you finish your france visa yellow light section of this book your appointment as soon as you can because women's book up maybe now with covade not as like strong and quote unquote new as it was for me back in august um it might be a bit better but it you know they would fill up quick like they would have a weekend or a week oh excuse me a week open and then it'd be a flood of people then it's like oh okay we're you know next availability is like five weeks from now where like you can go so just again just check uh periodic check all the time check group messages email the school call somebody at the school constantly be in communication with your school so you know um if the pay fees for booking two as well just to reserve your spot there and then once you visit the cinema they have all your paperwork uh needed and i recommend about to break down the documents you need have two copies of everything um if they ask for it in english and in french do so in the description box i will link to a slideshow that helps me of just break down like what you need for it i say you know the more you have the better it's better to be over prepared then under prepared and be you know like scrambling when i went to get my appointment done in dc there was a girl in front of me with her father she was about to be 18 she was yeah she was engineering here for college and like there were two or three pieces of paperwork they just didn't have and so they had i went to the one in dc they had computers and a printer there but like she had to leave her spot online go do that printing and then like someone else had to come in so it's kind of very like the dmv you know you know those types of processes where it's like you just want to do it all in one sitting how the paperwork just ultimately rip the band-aid off and be good to go also when you're there at your uh bfs appointment you'll be taking a picture there that will be the picture you use um for your visual via your passport and also you will take your biometrics and things like that so again just keep in mind then you'll be given a tracking number on your receipts um to track your application track its progress and then for your passport collection which will have your visa embedded in it we'll have it in it like normally halfway through your book it will either um you can go pick it up in person if you live close enough to go back to it or they'll mail it to you um and then with the million i think it's like it's a bit of a fee i think it's like a slight fee versus freeze to pick up but i'll put it up here how much it is to cost um and i would say average at least three to five weeks of hearing back again with covid you know that just it can fluctuate there was an option i remember seeing of like expediting it but i think kobe took that away so just keep that in mind of just having at least like three weeks of buffer time between like your flight so here are briefly the document guidelines um your visa application form so just you know the initial like i want to do this this is me declaring to do so the france uh visa receipts so you paying confirming you know the yellow step your id photograph which is separate from the photograph you take it's weird but i don't know whatever uh travel document so you know id so passport campus france usa confirmation email your etude on france acceptance letter which again is part of campus france proof of accommodation in france so you know for me i had um the housing aup housing send me like an email and like a document to prove like i have my address then um proof of sufficient funds for your time there in france which is significant that's what caught me up um at the first time i talked about in my journey to paris video i gave them my loan plan and outlined it but it wasn't like specified that it would be enough for semester so get it as detailed as possible as you can and then um also make sure you have your flights uh planned there you know you have your your books your flute out got the you know you're catching the flight snobbily and that you will uh make sure you have your flight and blow my gosh girl you are good to go so that is all that is required of you for that red light final stage of the vfs global interview again make sure you have all your paperwork for me i had a folder with me and i broke down things like with you know paper clips and a sticky note to identify what it is the more you're you know you're good secure the better i think you know there's no such thing as being over prepared for a process like this especially during covet especially where you know things are changing you know minute by minute weeks a week but thankfully with students though through all of this i've noticed and i've learned i've seen it with it being a new semester students are still allowed in from the states so you will get here but of course you know the process is going to be a little rough but you know you got to earn it and i think it's you know france testing you if you really want to come in if you're if you can handle it okay i hope a parade that made sense and just helped ease your nerves and fears about such a quote-unquote daunting right now i mean quote-unquote a daunting process a very intricate process um hope i was able to help you guys understand it and break it down just a bit more comment below if
