hello and welcome to week four of AC 1110 accounting fundamentals remember that the contact information is down here with the name the email address and the phone number the email address probably being the best way to contact me for most things we also have the office hours down here these are not required but if you have questions this is time carved out for those questions it will be at 6pm Pacific and it is a different call-in number here so that's the calling number once you call in then if we need the software to take a look and run through problems which is very helpful then will log into the soft one we can do that we can work some problems together in that way that's very helpful but first call in to the number will use that for the audio and multiple people can then call in and then we'll go into the screen share software down here remember that most of the work will have instructional videos with them so the instructional videos a lot of them will be on this website i'm moving most from this website to just the youtube channel so that they work better on different devices so if you wanted to go in there directly look at any of the lectures and whatnot you can go into this channel and scroll down to under charter here and we will be the first one under charter this one here and then all these on the right hand side will be related to this class so if you wanted to scroll through these and go through them directly could be faster to do so in that way i'm going to scroll down to the current week that we are in being weak for so within week four we should have a familiar layout at this point where we have the objectives we've got the topics we've got the lessons will be covering chapter four chapter 54 is the main thing that we're going to be looking at looking at closing entries we're going to start to chapter five next week we're going to finish chapter five we're just going to we're not going to go past chapter five so next week we're going to continue chapter five it's a bit of a long chapter but we may have a bit more time to catch up on some work in week five as we study for the final we then have these instructional videos some of them will be repeated that's by design because we want to go over and repeat some of the core items that will be presented throughout all basically accounting class we're going to go back to like these building blocks every time and then we have the work that needs to be completed remember that everything from the discussion forums on down this is what we need to complete in moodlerooms this is moon runes this is connect we want to basically check everything off in moodlerooms from here down make sure that we have done it even though most of the work is in connect so although most of the work is in connect not everything is listed and connect although most of the work is not in moodlerooms everything is listed in moodlerooms therefore you want to check everything off off with in moodlerooms as you do the work whether it is in moodlerooms or in connect first one is the discussion forums remember I highly recommend to try to get full credit on the discussion forums you have the most control over that twenty one percent of the grade you really want to get a hundred percent of that twenty one percent or as close to it as possible the way to do that is to have at least four posts here I most students need more than four posts because for post would be the minimum remember that the discussion forms cumulate upwards so you want to basically make sure that you have more than the four so that's it once you get to the full credit then you'll get full credit and every post you give could give you more points or could give you no points depending on the quality of the post until you accumulate to that full credit in order to get credit we need to add content so we need to add something new to the post in order to do so you can answer the first question you can answer other students you could answer any any other question that is posed in the discussion forms whether it's to your particular post or someone else's and so be aware of that i'm also going to put test type questions in there and those could help you with the quiz and if you do answer a test type question try to give some feedback in terms of was it hard was it easy what makes it hard and easy is there something that could be useful to help to answer the question then those types of things could expand on the discussion a bit and help other people with the quizzes and the tests and those type of things then we have the assignments and we've got the homework so this first assignment this one is in connect so connective courses up here remember that we are in week four and i would recommend doing the learnsmarts first but this is that assignment we just looked at remember that there's going to be this paperclip don't need to turn in anything that's on the paper clip but it has resources to help you out with this problem so you want to open the paper clip which will give you this excel sheet then open this problem use the paper clip to work that problem what will the paper clip have an excel sheet with three tabs videos example worksheet the video tab will click this little and it will go through an example problem very similar to the problem we need to do then we have the example tab and once again this these journal entries here are almost exactly formatted the same way as the journal entries that you will need to be inputting therefore by just copying the format you can pick up a lot of points through that data entry the numbers will change but the format will be much the same so make sure to at least pick up that much don't get a zero on these assignments although I know they're long and intimidating there are a lot of resources to pick up a lot of points on them through this Excel worksheet alright going back to connect up here going to go back to move rooms then we have the second assignment this is in moodlerooms so we have to actually click on here this is moodlerooms that we are in rather than connect that we were in and then we're going to click on the download button this is an excel sheet this will be a much smaller problem if not as long but it is in Excel so although there's only three items here it is in Excel so that can be a bit more challenging note that there is another tab as well as there's this tab this is the financial statement and there will be videos to work through these so these you have to download and then there'll be a submit button when you go back to Maroons once the week started there'll be a submit button here that's where you want to submit this one if you haven't submitted those in prior weeks go back and submit those a lot of times students miss this one because it's in moodlerooms and not in connect all right we're going to go back to week four in moodlerooms scrolling down the next two thing that we have the two learnsmarts those will be these learnsmarts hopefully we're getting those down in connect there's only gonna be 25 of them once you've completed them if you go back in there there will be more problems that are good practice for the quiz but you don't need to do them after the 25 so if you go back in there if at the bottom it says that there's like 70 questions or something remember that that probably means you have already done it and you're in there just practicing at that point so keep that in mind the quiz is going to be on chapter four quizzes are due by sunday and there's not generally any late work unless there's an unusual policy in which case you'd have to tell me and I take it out of case by case basis to see if we can allow the late work other than that there is generally late work for partial credit on the assignments that means make sure to take the quiz make sure to pick up some points even if you're not prepared for it anything is better than a zero on the quiz go to scroll up to the gradebook now we're going to scroll up to the grade book which is going to be this item on the left hand side remember that all work is due for each week on Sunday the clothes of the week I then have until tuesday to grade the work for example week 3 will close on sunday and then you want to have an image of what the gradebook can look like in your head and then i will grade it by tuesday and you want to go in there probably by tuesday around noon and see that it then is populated the way you think it should be for example quiz week 3 discussion will hopefully be going from a dash to a hundred percent because everybody's looking to get full credit on those discussion forums so and that will be the same of course for everything down here will populate in accordance to what has been received in either moodlerooms or mcgraw-hill for both everything through week 3 as well as any late work that may have been done through prior weeks i will pick both those things up by the end of tuesday following the close of the week which happens on sunday and then we're going to go into week 4 and within week for you want to go into the gradebook and see if you have any zeros or anything and see if you can go back and pick up that late work go in and pick up that late work I will then grade them after the close of week four so weak for will close on sunday same thing will happen as of Tuesday around noon you want to go look at it look at the gradebook and make sure that everything from week for as well as any week late work that you have completed within week 4 is then populated and let me know if there are any questions at that time that's it for weak force have a great week for
