Radiohead’s alleged brilliance is a complicated and polarizing subject.They are a band in a unique position. They have received almost no blatantly negative criticism over the course of their extensive career, some exceptions including how otherwise-diehard Radiohead fans regularly glaze over the existence of their debut album, Pablo Honey, and the mixed review of their eighth studio album, The King of Limbs, which received criticism for sounding more like a Thom Yorke solo album. How can a band that is so consistently praised with such superfluous language actually be any good? Just take the last paragraph of Pitchfork’s review of Kid A, one of the few albums in the music magazine’s history to receive a perfect 10 (the most recent album to receive such an accolade was 2010’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy):The experience and emotions tied to listening to Kid A are like witnessing the stillborn birth of a child while simultaneously having the opportunity to see her play in the afterlife on Imax. It's an album of sparking paradox. It's cacophonous yet tranquil, experimental yet familiar, foreign yet womb-like, spacious yet visceral, textured yet vaporous, awakening yet dreamlike, infinite yet 48 minutes. It will cleanse your brain of those little crustaceans of worries and inferior albums clinging inside the fold of your gray matter. The harrowing sounds hit from unseen angles and emanate with inhuman genesis. When the headphones peel off, and it occurs that six men (Nigel Godrich included) created this, it's clear that Radiohead must be the greatest band alive, if not the best since you know who. Breathing people made this record! And you can't wait to dive back in and try to prove that wrong over and over.Out of context, this paragraph sounds like complete satire. If you made it through this paragraph, congratulations, you’re one step closer to seeing how people find Radiohead to be brilliant whilst using some very interesting examples and lexicon. But that wasn’t your question. The absence of responses to this question and my almost immediate digression are telling factors in how difficult this question actually is to answer. It’s easy to list off all the instances of how Radiohead has amazed masses through high reviews but it’s much more complex to actually explain why they are good.Perhaps it is that their art is “subjective” but that response is boring. Perhaps it is that a once-in-a-lifetime devoid-of-criticism band deserves to be appreciated in such a way you don’t question it but that response is bullshit and embarrassing. Perhaps it’s that they are a band that care a lot and continue to try really hard, or maybe it’s the fact that Radiohead has continued to release album after album of completely unique yet still undeniably Radiohead-sounding music that has never gone as far as really being a letdown. I think that everyone who is qualified to answer this question will have a difference response, and that is the beauty of the process. Just because something is considered great doesn’t mean it has to be appreciated by everyone. It shouldn’t be. William Shakespeare is considered the objectively greatest playwright of all time by a large number of people yet there are certainly people who don’t like his plays. It’s not about “not getting it”; it’s just not for them, and that is okay.For me, Radiohead was an accidental discovery in the 10th grade. I happened upon In Rainbows, one of their most “accessible” releases, and decided to give it a few listens to see if the music itself could draw me in as closely as the album’s cover art did. To be completely honest, I didn’t really appreciate it the first few times that I listened. I hardly remember my initial impression of the album, which suggests that I likely found it to be boring upon first listen. And yet, I still found myself slowly gravitating back to the album. Perhaps I would just listen to the first song on the bus and then move onto my regular rotation. And then one day, I put the album on without thinking and it had felt as if I had been listening to it for hundreds of years and knew every note and melody. Suddenly and without reason, the album was one of my favorites of all time. Radiohead has gone on to become one of my all-time favorite bands, one that no matter how long I go without listening to, I can always come back to their discography to find something that excites me in any mood. In Rainbows is accessible to many for it’s calming sounds and general lack of alienating moments. OK Computer is considered the quintessential 90s rock album if you like 90s rock music. Kid A is the reinvention of Radiohead after releasing said-greatest 90s rock album. Everything in their library is worth listening to (besides maybe Pablo Honey ;).If this did not answer your question, I don’t know if I ever will be able to write it. Whenever I find myself wondering about Radiohead’s brilliance, I can recount stories of when they became so important to me and the intense emotions of hearing new music from them. I think about what life must’ve been like before hearing their music. I remember walking down the infinite corridor completely alone at 3 am listening to “How to Disappear Completely” and feeling the closest I’ve ever come to understanding where I was meant to be in life (song title unrelated). But actually capturing that sense of objective brilliance is elusive to me, it is something that you will have to try to discover yourself as I am sure you have in other interests in your life. And if not, that’s okay. There are tons of other things in life deserving of such a title.

This stage tend to hurt the lower income people first.2. Following moral decline financial decline is sure to follow as trust and cooperation decrease, and crime and corruption increase. At this stage the higher income people will be effected and they too will start to panic.3. As fear and panic increase all around the smaller scale crime turn out to full fledged wars, killings, murder, force, hate, revenge and behavior worse than you might expect in animals. Most people will die, but the more sensitive and aware will tend to humble themselves, and the warmongers will tend to kill each other off with the victors hating the sensitive and aware even more. This is where the division between good and evil becomes so great that the two can not coexist.After this Jesus will come.Presently Christians do not love truth enough and coexist too easy in tolerance of injustice, greed and lies because the financial decline with the system collapse has not happened yet, and too many live too distracted or immorally to notice the moral decline. But make no mistake, the move from point 1 to 3 will go fast, very fast. Stage 1 will be the longest and that is the one we are in now. Once we get to stage 2, then stage 3 will follow fast.
