Can an employer watch the employee's activity on a computer without the employee knowing about it?
As David Kutzler articulated very well, yes, the company can indeed monitor everything you do at work - whether you know about it or not. His response clearly explains how company property works.I’m going to surprise some people here, but I actually think monitoring is a good thing for employees. Let me explain with an example:I was very young when I started my first company. To my delight, we grew very quickly. Here I am, 24 years old, and in charge of the livelihood of hundreds, and by extension thousands. I was in over my head.I dealt with the extreme pressure by applying more pressure of my own - I can be an intense and driven person, so I would push my people all day to be more productive. Without realizing it, I started doing something I hate - micromanaging.I was so concerned that everyone perform their work that I wouldn’t give anyone breathing room. This all changed when I had an epiphany: “why am I bothering all these people when I can simply find ways to automatically track their activity?”6 months and many IT meetings later, we had everything in place for me to receive a nightly email that included all performance data by employee, and overall company performance. A few interesting things happened:My time - I saved a TON of time. At least 3 hours per day were opened up for more productive workFreedom - my employees were adults, and we treated them like it. No nit-picking, no constant badgering, and just let them do their work. They REALLY appreciated the changeEmployee relations - I was so surprised by how things changed after I started monitoring everyone’s activity. For one thing, I never had to reprimand people anymore. They knew that I saw the numbers each day, and they came to me when they under-performed. They reprimanded themselves.I can’t remember the last time I fired someone. People just knew when they weren’t performing and voluntarily left on their own. We created a culture of top-performers.Abuse and theft went down - I tend to believe most people are good and honest, but its funny how all of our office supplies, computers, and other expenses mysteriously went down. Social media usage plummeted. Non work-related internet usage dropped signNowly.Don’t get me wrong - monitoring can be done the right way and the wrong way. My intentions were good and honorable, and therefore the outcomes were productive.People respect what you inspect. There will always be bad apples in the bunch, but this will keep your honest people honest. If you monitor activity, please do it the right way (similar to what I’ve described above). To all my employers out there, if you’re going to take activity monitoring seriously, please use it as a tool to develop good habits and a good culture. If you use it for the purposes of micromanagement, it will most likely backfire on you.

Was Taj Mahal really a Hindu temple or it is just a propoganda theory spreaded by Hindutva leader?
Thanks Virendra for A2A.Right from childhood, I was fascinated with this story and have read about this extensively. Also, heavily influenced from RSS in childhood, I was biased towards the P.N. Oak’s narrative. However, ,my conclusion in short: Taj Mahal in the current form was never a Hindu temple. Whether or not a temple stood before Taj Mahal is difficult to answer until and unless you dig the ground up under Taj or some other technology comes up.My inferences step by step (for the current structure)P.N. Oak claims that the carbon dating of the door proves that the structure is older than common narrative. Well, the door might have been installed after dismantling it from somewhere else. May be some temple’s door was tore down to make it the door for Taj Mahal. But that doesnt prove anything about Taj Mahal.P.N. Oak claims that there are numerous symbols of Hindus on TajSign Om: I have personally gone to Taj Mahal and tried to identify that sign. The sign Om is part of the flower and was only observed only in few flowers. All the other flowers had different patterns. And there is a possibility that artisans being Hindu, did have Om in mind. And even if you agree that this is indeed OM. there is no parallel of making OMs in flower across whole Rajasthan. If you still have doubts, do visit Taj Mahal and judge yourself.b. Sign of Kalash over the top: Well, Mughals used to borrow deigns from Indic architecture and there seems to be similar case for Humayun tomb and many other tombs constructed later. Also, it is resting on half crecent moon, definitely not a Hindu design.c. Vedic quarters: Well the quarters are not necessarily Vedic in design. they resembled the one in that age. And Taj Mahal seemed to be garden for Shah Jahan. And there used to be security around the Taj Mahal and even to the opposite side, where gardens used to be there. Hence, these houses seems to be belong to the security of that time.d. Marble theory (on which aayaats are written): I went to taj Myself, but i didnt notice such a difference. May be I am not expert but this argument of PN Oak did not convince me. Further, P.N. Oak only captured black and white photos- too difficult to understand them.e. Rajputs made this temple: First of all, it is very difficult to built such an extravagant temple, and quite visible from Agra Fort so easily under Sultanate or Mughal rule. Even if they wanted to create a temple, it could have been quite modest or toned down. For ex. Jain temples in Chandni Chowk were without any shikhars. Bright White grand temple looks odd on Agra.f. Documentation for Taj Mahal: is very extensive and detailed. But there is no account of Taj Mahal temple/Tejo Mahalaya/Agra Shiva temple even in Rajput history. it looks odd that none of the Rajput history mentions this temple. Rajput records are quite extensive in both details and signing paens of their kings. Thus, ommision of Tejo Mahalya seems to be very odd.g. As per P.N. Oak, if Tejo Mahalaya was so important, then it should have been impossible to erase that from public memory. Kashi was rebuilt during Marathas. Mathura during British times and Ayodhya is still a burning topic. Agra temple never appears in any of the scripture/king’s record/forklore in north India or south India or even South East Asian history. Conclusion: To me P.N. Oak’s theory seems delusional at best.

Do you change the door locks when you buy a new house?
Do you change the door locks when you buy a new house? It is the very VERY first thing I do after leaving the closing table. On the day of closing I will meet my realtor at the property to do a final walk through. This is critical as you never know what may have happened between when you conducted the inspection and your closing day. Once I check everything out, I go to the closing table, sign all the documents, and then directly back to the property to change the locks and setup a temporary security system. This is especially important when dealing with foreclosures, short sales, and REO (bank owned) properties. Sometimes people are butt-hurt over losing their place and decide to take it out on the new buyer. While you’re at it, make sure you take the time to erase all the codes from the garage door opener and reprogram in only the remotes and keypads you have.Story Time:I’m very experienced in the real estate process and my nephew was looking to buy his first place. He had limited budget, so I helped him find a short sale at a good price. The owners were still living in the unit and they were the ones that initiated the short sale to avoid foreclosure. Everything was going along swimmingly, if not slowly, and when it finally came to closing day I led him through the process. We visited the property immediately before the closing and everything looked pretty good. The previous owners were obviously not interested in cleaning up and had left a lot of junk around including an upright piano. My nephew asked me what would happen to the piano and I told him that if it was still here when he took possession, it was his forever. Things were good enough, so we headed off to the closing. The closing went smoothly and as we were collecting our things, my guy that I had watching the place called and said 4 guys had backed across the grass with a truck, had gone inside and were removing the piano. I told my nephew and he said good, he didn’t want to have to get rid of it anyway. I told my guy to keep watching and make sure that they just left with the piano. We hopped in the car and headed back towards the property. Unfortunately we were in rush hour and it was going to be 45 minutes to an hour before we got there. My guy called back 10 minutes later and told me that the piano and a few boxes were loaded into the truck, but now they had gone back in with a bats and bars and were tearing the place up. I told him to start recording everything on his phone. He said he started recording as soon as they backed up the truck and we were on speaker. We called 911 from the car and told the police that we got a call from a friend that someone had gotten into my nephew’s house and were loading up a truck out front.By the time we arrived there were 3 police cars out front and 4 schmucks sitting on the curb in handcuffs. The police listened carefully to both sides of the story. The schmucks turned out to be the father, uncle, and two brothers of the former owner. They claimed that they were just loading up the last load of stuff as the owner was moving out that day. They said they didn’t know anything about the damage to the property; that it was that way when they got there. My guy stepped up and started showing the cops the video. That was enough for them. They were arrested and charged with Breaking & Entering, Burglary, and Willful Destruction of Private Property.Once we got into the property it was unbelievable how much damage 4 guys could do in the 15 minutes between the 911 call and the police arrival. They beat the fixtures, windows, doors, banisters, light fixtures, mirrors, counters, sinks, cabinets, and walls. It was heartbreaking, there was over $15k in damage, but there was a silver lining. Papa Schmuck was actually pretty well financed. My nephew had to delay moving into his new place for 6 weeks as I got my crews in to fix the place up, but in the end he got a completely remodeled house out of the deal. The schmucks pled out to non-felony charges, but when it came to damages, the judge said it was for the civil courts to decide. It took over a year to get them into civil court for the trial. The 4 schmucks never tried to deny what they did, they just claimed that what they did was before my nephew actually closed on the property, so they hadn’t damaged my nephew’s property, they damaged their family member’s property. Between the timestamp on the security video at the title company showing us walking out and my guy’s video with the audio of when he called us to say the truck had backed in, it was very clear that the closing had been completed before they backed in. My nephew won the civil suit and received complete restitution.Of course, changing the locks likely wouldn’t have stopped these guys.

My neighbors keep insisting that it is illegal for me to film their children with my security camera that is by my front door. I
Edit: the OP has added details in the comments indicating they didn't confront the child allegedly responsible for the damages, but instead informed another uninvolved child of the video evidence.Apologies to the OP, and shame on me, for misreading the situation.I will keep my answer here unchanged as general advice, even though it doesn't apply to the OP.Lots of great answers here, yet everyone has overlooked a crucial piece of advice:You never should have confronted the child in the first place.Yes, you confronted them.Yes, they're a child. That makes parents defensive, and parents on the defensive are hard to communicate with.I also wouldn't be surprised if the tone you confronted their child with (or at least, how the child described the situation) was less than civil. Some bells can't be unrung, and it looks like you're going to need to lawyer up.But you may have been able to avoid this by asking to meet the parents and stating, simply, “I think your child broke my window.”That's it. No need for emotionally or legally laden language like “vandalize”. No need to make any assumptions about the child’s motivations or intentions. Just a simple statement of facts. Now, some parents would still need an explicit request to have the damages paid for, and some of those would still contend that neither they nor their child should be held financially responsible. In that case, you lawyer up. Not much you can do then. But choosing the right people to talk to, as well as the right way to convey your message, goes a long way.

Why has Hamas finally decided to change their position toward Israel? Was it a negotiated change in position?
Why has Hamas finally decided to change their position toward Israel? Was it a negotiated change in position?Hamas has not made any changes to their position toward Israel. In Arabic, HAMAS says that the policy paper released on May 1, 2017 is not a new charter. Felesteen, a Hamas newspaper, says "Hamas denied that the document is an alternative to the Charter of the movement, which was released to coincide with its founding, at the end of the 1980s…”. http://felesteen.ps/article/hmas...Thus, the Hamas Charter (or Covenant [mithaq]) which was published on 18 August 1988 is still in effect. Its full title is "The Charter/Covenant of the Islamic Resistance Movement ", ‘Hamas’ being an acronym for "the Islamic Resistance Movement". (Arabic: حماس Ḥamās, an acronym of حركة المقاومة الاسلامية Ḥarakat al-Muqāwamah al-ʾIslāmiyyah Islamic Resistance Movement). You can see an English translation here: Hamas Covenant 1988 http://avalon.law.yale.edu/20th_...The new document released May 1 is called “A Document of General Principles and Policies”. According to Hamas, it is in addition to the Charter. Instead of reading what others tell you it says, I strongly recommend you read the actual document in its entirety. You can find an English translation on the Hamas website: A Document of General Principles and Policies. The basic tenets of the original 1988 Charter are clearly reconfirmed in the newdocument, some of the most signNow ones beingnon-recognition of Israel, rejection of any and all territorial compromise,non-negotiable irrevocability of the ‘right of return’ for Palestinians to present day Israel, jihad as preferred means of resistance, renunciation of previously signed agreements. Each of these points is expressed throughout the document, but I will here just quote a clause or two for each, hoping the reader will peruse the entire document on his own. All of my references are to the actual “Document of General Principles and Policies” and none are to any analyses, reports, comments, or articles on the document. ALL my quotes are actual clauses taken directly from the document itself. Not recognizing the legitimacy of IsraelIn the document, Israel is referred to over and over as “the Zionist project”, “the Zionist entity”, “the Zionist occupation”, “the Zionist state”, “the Zionist movement”— but never as “Israel”. [There is only one instance of the use of a form of ‘Israel’—we are told in one place only that “the Israeli state is the tool/plaything of the Zionist project and its foundation/base of aggression” (Cl. 14).] For there to be no doubt, it is specifically spelled out that:19. There shall be no recognition of the legitimacy of the Zionist entity.Palestine will replace Israel, not live side by side with it:20. …Hamas rejects any alternative to the full and complete liberation of Palestine, from the river to the sea...27. … There is no alternative to a fully sovereign Palestinian State on the entire national Palestinian soil, with Jerusalem as its capital.Hamas accepts a sovereign Palestinian state on the ’67 borders (‘49 Armistice Line) only as a transitionary stage to use as a base to gain all of the land that is now Israel:2. Palestine, which extends from the River Jordan in the east to the Mediterranean in the west and from Ras Al-Naqurah in the north to Umm Al-Rashrash in the south, is an integral territorial unit. It is the land and the home of the Palestinian people. The expulsion and banishment of the Palestinian people from their land and the establishment of the Zionist entity therein do not annul the right of the Palestinian people to their entire land and do not entrench any rights therein for the usurping Zionist entity.A sovereign Palestinian state on the ’67 borders (‘49 Armistice Line) can be formed ONLY on the assumption that ALL Arabs living in pre-’48 Israel will be able to return and live within present-day Israel:20. ….However, without compromising its rejection of the Zionist entity and without relinquishing any Palestinian rights, Hamas considers the establishment of a fully sovereign and independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem as its capital along the lines of the 4th of June 1967, with the return of the refugees and the displaced to their homes from which they were expelled, to be a formula of national consensus. This right to all the land which is presently called Israel is non-negotiable:12. The right of the Palestinian refugees and the displaced to return to their homes from which they were banished or were banned from returning to – whether in the lands occupied in 1948 or in 1967 (that is the whole of Palestine), is a natural right, both individual and collective. This right ….is an inalienable right and cannot be dispensed with by any party, whether Palestinian, Arab or international.Compensation is not instead of returning, but rather in addition to returning to within Israel.13. Hamas rejects all attempts to erase the rights of the refugees, including the attempts to settle them outside Palestine and through the projects of the alternative homeland. Compensation to the Palestinian refugees for the harm they have suffered as a consequence of banishing them and occupying their land is an absolute right that goes hand in hand with their right to return. They are to receive compensation upon their return and this does not negate or diminish their right to return. All the descendents anywhere in the world of any Arab who was in the Palestine Mandate area for any amount of time prior to 1947 has an inalienable right to come and live in what is presently called Israel:4. The Palestinians are the Arabs who lived in Palestine until 1947, irrespective of whether they were expelled from it, or stayed in it; and every person that was born to an Arab Palestinian father after that date, whether inside or outside Palestine, is a Palestinian.5. The Palestinian identity is authentic and timeless; it is passed from generation to generation.12. Palestinians have the natural right to go back to their land, which is a personal and general right for all Palestinians.Jihad as preferred means of resistance:25. Resisting the occupation with all means and methods is a legitimate right ….. At the heart of these lies armed resistance, which is regarded as the strategic choicefor protecting the principles and the rights of the Palestinian people.Renunciation of agreements previously signed by elected Palestinian governments:21. Hamas affirms that the Oslo Accords and their addenda contravene the governing rules of international law in that they generate commitments that violate the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people. Therefore, the Movement rejects these agreements and all that flows from them, such as the obligations that are detrimental to the interests of our people, especially security coordination (collaboration). So all of the above positions were officially reconfirmed in the May 1, 2017 Policy Paper.

What are the aims and ideologies of Hamas?
What are the aims and ideologies of Hamas? The only genuine answer to this question will be found in primary Hamas sources such as the official Hamas website, the official Hamas Charter, official Hamas pronouncements, and out of the mouths of Hamas’ leaders. I strongly recommend steering clear of news media, op eds, journalists’ opinions, and all secondary and tertiary sources which are prone to being biased. Wikipedia is useful if and only if you check the article’s sources to make sure that the statements which they are supposed to support actually follow from the given source. This question was asked three years ago. Fortunately, Hamas has recently issued a policy paper which clarifies and confirms earlier statements of purpose. In Arabic, HAMAS says that the policy paper released on May 1, 2017 is not a new charter. Exactly what changes were proposed to the Hamas Charter in May 2017?
Here’s from a noted peace activist, Tal Harris, (a man who has spent his life fighting for a Palestinian state, a man who organizes meetings between Israelis and Palestinians, in short a man actually interested in peace)Having read the document I have to say the following:1) The al-Jazeera headline is false. Hamas doesn't accept the 67 borders, not more than the far right in Israel accepts those lines. The document merely points out that those borders are in the national consensus, while repeatedly rejecting their legitimacy. The Israeli far right also agrees that the two state solution is within the national consensus, but like Hamas it rejects that consensus.2) Unlike the Israeli far right, Hamas further pledges to militarily "resist" Israel until all of Palestine is "liberated" (after defining Palestine as the entire land from Rosh Hanikra to Eilat).3) One look at how Hamas manages its own government in Gaza demonstrates how irrelevant this document is, which speaks of democracy, moderation (what's moderate about completely disregarding the rights of the Jewish people to a state as well?), international law (overlooking the countless international resolutions that affirm Israel's rights within the 67 borders), tolerance (so much tolerance that all opposition movements to hamas in Gaza have been curtailed by arrests and shootings), free and fair elections (who stops hamas from holding elections for the past seven years, since its mandate had expired?)4) the document uses ambiguous and opaque references to women's rights and the 67 lines - probably to raise the curiosity of international supporters, who won't bother to critically read the whole document or confront it with the realities of its own self government in Gaza.5) Palestinians and Israelis deserve freedom, independence and security. Hamas and other fascist groups are not the answer - they are the problem Tal Harris טל הריסNo changes beyond the cosmetic. Still, a terrorist group bent on genocide and religious rule.Still want to wipe Israel off the map, but they agree that there’s a national consensus. If you condemn the Israeli far right like Kach which supports religious rule and ethnic cleansing, you must also condemn Hamas who psignNowes the same. It’s fascinating to see the defense of it by people like Ali Abuminah who says he advocates for a secular state."In its new document, Hamas asserts that resistance, including armed resistance, “is a legitimate right guaranteed by divine laws and by international norms and laws.” What's behind Hamas' new charter?Guess secularism isn’t that important to him, since there’s no divine laws in secularism.Hamas is asking for war, and I’m scared this will get them their wish.“Hamas rejects any alternative to the full and complete liberation of Palestine, from the [Jordan] river to the [Mediterranean] sea” – i.e., the whole of Israel as well as the disputed territories.” Hamas Revamps Its Image, But Still Embraces ‘Armed Resistance’ and Does Not Recognize IsraelThis is still their goal.I am not comfortable posting a picture of myself or my family, but again, I beg you to read the Hamas charter and know that their wish is to blow up civilian buses, that they make music videos about it.And their target is these kids heading to the bus.And people like Abuminah are defending them. Seriously sad.So I checked Facebook and found this on The name of the land is Palestine, praising the Hamas doctrine. (I removed names to avoid any attempt against the original posters, I won’t make a pillory of them)Note the use of Hasidim to represent Jews (I’ll ignore the Swastika, although it’s just as sick). Hamas may say it only opposes Zionists, not Jews, but they put up caricatures of Hasidim (who tend to be non-Zionist) to represent Jews.Judge for yourself.
