hey how's it going everybody Tim here back with another video and in today's video we're going to be talking about how to find a job in Alabama and this is actually the first video in a 50 part video series that I'm going to be doing where I break down each and every state in the United States and list some resources for finding a job and if you watched any of my other videos you know I always try to talk about resources and tips and ideas that can help you find a job that other people are using a lot of people do the same thing when they're looking for a job and what turns out happening is all the same people are applying for all the same jobs and no way ever gets it like you ain't gonna get it if everybody else is applying for it you got a nice resume but you ain't gonna get the job ten thousand people apply for it so I try to list like different resources this one is no different I'm starting with Alabama because a if you you know pull up a list of the states in the United States alphabetically Alabama's first and also I was born in Alabama I don't tell a lot of people this not if you will know this but I moved from Alabama when I was three so from what I remember it was a pretty cool state so let's jump right into it after you've done your your boots on the ground real-world job searching I recommend hopping online going to your search engine of choice mine is of course Google and just typing in like Alabama jobs okay now the first thing you're gonna see pop up is these listings that are from places like Glassdoor career builder excuse me indeed things like that these are great resources for finding a job but like I said everybody uses these resources because they're the first ones that pop up so everybody's gonna click right here 100 plus more jobs okay everybody's gonna click right there we want to avoid that we want to keep going through the listings you don't always have to stay on page one because that's where everybody plays we want to get deeper in the listings and actually the second listing here is a really good one I've already got a window pulled up of it but this is the Alabama job link and it is actually a government ran career job listing service you can tell by the gov and pretty much every state in the Union has one of these they're a great resource because they are run by the so there are a lot of like state jobs on there is a good resource for finding like good job well-paying jobs jobs are gonna last a lot of people don't use them and one thing I like about it it has a really quick you know a quick search right here so you can just come in here and you know pulling like carpenter and then just hit search and that quick it pulls up 118 matches and you can just go through and whatever area you're in see if they have carbons you work or whatever type of work you do um the cool thing is going back here I'm just saying Alabama being very vague because there's no way I could go through and talk about how to find a job in like each and every major city in the country so I'm doing States but you could put it in Birmingham right there or whatever state whatever city you're in and narrow the search down um you can register it'll allow you to upload your resume these are really good websites I've used them in Florida before to get jobs you can upload your resume they have training and education resources a lot of them actually have physical branches so you can go in your town or somewhere usually in a major city they'll have a physical branch you can go there you can talk to people get training on updating your resume and things like that so always look for the government ran career website and your state and this is the one in Alabama I just want to mention all the links I use will be in the description box so you can go down there check them out okay um another one I found let's see if I can find it in here yeah this one here is al comm and it just has Alabama jobs um it's basically just another job website but it's one that just does not seem as popular like it was further down in the listings not as many people look for what you want to do is use these less popular websites because some employers are more likely to use one of these websites because they're cheaper or they might know somebody you know just just people list their jobs or they list them for a variety of reasons you can't assume everybody lists on the big job web sites so check out these smaller ones um I've been I've been putting in Carpenter all day today I don't know why I hate carpentry but we'll just try that out um real quick and you can see lots of listings come up stop I hate when those little pop-ups come up like calm down oh I'm looking for a job I'm not trying to fill out your little paperwork oh but you see lots of carpenter jobs and other construction jobs a good website here jobs al comm you can check that out link in the description box seems like they have some pretty good jobs on there okay let's get on oh there's no I want to do Oh mess it up people okay here we go we gonna leave that in there we don't edit and like I say um a lot of these on the front page you're gonna be places you've heard of um sometimes you got to get here get to page two you're really starting to get into the places that no one really looks at you guys start getting in here um you know here's another one I found earlier and it is Alabama State Personnel Department you never heard of that you ain't never heard of the Alabama State Personnel Department but boom check this out if we go in here and we click on career opportunities and all these you can find in Google if you just scroll through let's go to hot jobs boom hot jobs e jobs is hiring now um they said listed below are several job titles which are either in high demand or difficult to recruit that's what you want high demand jobs where they can't find people and some of these are definitely not gonna be entry-level some of them are um trainee some of these you're probably gonna need you know degree or something like that but some of them seem like claims representative and look at the money on these thirty three thousand and fifty thousand these are some jobs that are you know docket clerk Employment Security Representative I don't know what that means it's probably like janitor these are some jobs that you could so make some good money and I promise you a ton of people are not applying for these jobs ton of people are not applying for these jobs once again you want to try to find these government job sites because a lot of these government jobs all they have to do they just kind of list on their site and they might post it in the local paper maybe in the paper or they might just put a thing on the bulletin board like a lot of times they're not going through and posting these government jobs on the fake job websites so you can go in here and hey if you're a biologist three there might not be any other biologists applying for this um so I think it's a really good job resource like I said you always want to try to find these government job website go um another let's go back here um let's see another one I found is this is just like private companies um I think my things are the way um rat ran stat ramstad is that how you say that I'm just a private company a lot of times when you're going through Google um you will find companies since you typed in Alabama jobs you will find companies that major companies across that that um that are nationwide will have a listing and I'll just say like this one said I ran stat jobs in Alabama um you can just go and see what job just a regular company has did a lot of times these companies they just might average so they have hundreds of jobs across the country um they may not advertise all these jobs anywhere else as in their own website so I think it's good to just go to a regular company's websites look at this shipping receiving temp to permit at twelve to fifteen dollars an hour just post it today today is the 26th the day I'm making this video um these are these some of these are entry-level some of them are but it's good to just look at regular companies websites don't always just go to you know the big websites to list everybody go to the company's website um just especially if there's a company you've heard of and see what they got going on they might have something in your area another one I found this is this is not a government website I found this on Google I think it was like page three um it is Alabama Federal jobs and I think it's ran by a private you know company it's not it's not this website is not ran by the government the state of Alabama but it has some really good listings on here I don't know where they find them but it has some really good listings on here um a lot of these are like Army Treasury homeland security things like that but who knows who knows these are government jobs who knows um you can apply maybe get one of these in some of these I liked it because there was eleven thousand jobs so federal jobs that US has the Alabama location boom thousands of jobs on here let's go to the next page let's see what else they got in there I'm curse load please internet thank you um just yeah just some different stuff like I said a lot of these are you know you may not get but there's some you might just but it's I guarantee this is a resource that very few people check into because most people gonna look in here and see this and go oh god I can't do that but the Department of Commerce you might could walk in the door and get a job being a partnership specialist Spanish census extension Jim extension to you I don't know I don't read government I don't speak government but yeah just another website you want to check out link in the description box below thousands of jobs people um this one goes back to kind of something I said earlier about going to companies websites target for some reason popped up in my search 121 jobs in Alabama and these are pretty much all entry level okay even if you are looking for something where you can make a little more money um you know you might not really want to work in retail a lot I've worked it's hard to before the job got the job quick yeah it won't quick well my ex-girlfriend helped me get the job but still it wasn't a lot of back-and-forth in the interview it's pretty quick if you just kind of need a job real quick um places like Target Walmart are always hiring you can get in the door I know 9 10 bucks an hour is not a lot 12 bucks an hour to stock but these are places that you know you can get in really quick you know make some money and when you're not working you can be searching these other job websites um trying to find a you know a more lucrative job or you might want to just you know be a Starbucks barista inside of the target at that that actually sounds like a good job sells you meet a lot of people if you're a people person or you might want to be a fulfillment expert that sounds like hooker but I don't that is but just another idea like I said a lot of these private company websites pop up and in a search for like Alabama jobs go to some of them go directly and and see what jobs ahead all right moving on here is the Alabama Jobs Network another another job Network set solely for Alabama you know you until you start you know delving deep into the searches you don't realize how many job networks and job websites there are for each state and like I said all of them are different sometimes you might have fine overlapping jobs some of the jobs on here might be on one of the other jobs but sites but a lot of times people advertise their job on certain websites and they won't be on other places so you need to go through each and every one of these websites and look at every single job you can this one doesn't have too many jobs um but you see they have ones like general mechanic plumber electrician let's say a lot of these or buddies are at the University Alabama but every job website you can job board you can for your state narrow it down to your city look at it go for you know that you you want to be looking for jobs no one else is looking for so that's another one Alabama I think my thing covering the Alabama job Network live here work here okay moving on this here is oh this was one that I found and I thought was pretty awesome on the Alabama Association of nonprofits so basically all of the jobs listed on here are going to be for nonprofit organizations and these are jobs you typically don't come across you typically aren't gonna come across like nonprofit organization jobs you know most of us just don't play in that space um this is a good thing because you can look at these jobs and no one else is looking for them um I was surprised when I went to view the job board and there was a bunch of jobs lots of jobs um once again this is one of those that some of these might not be things you you do culture coach don't know what that is um but then they have things like camp summer program manager um finance manager housing coordinator it's really good jobs victim advocate um set like seven pages of jobs here so this that's a lot that's a lot of jobs that in most cases it's not gonna be a lot of eyeballs on bookkeeper activity specialists and not only would you be like working but you're also like doing service you know I feel like nonprofit jobs are cool cuz you're working you're getting paid but you're also like helping out you're working for a charity or you're helping an organization to help people see it's like a double whammy of good you know you're getting money and you're getting you know that that good feeling from helping others so I think this was really cool definitely uh check this one out the Alabama Association of nonprofits they got some jobs there ain't nobody else you know looking at so all right next we have the census gov this this was um this is one that surprised me census.gov the people who do the census they go around and for some reason they want to know you know how many do you've all done a census or I don't think I ever done a census or it came to the house I just didn't do it but they have the Census Bureau that goes around and wants to know how many you know people you have in your house and how many pets and how many midgets I don't know but they have to have people you know performing this um this is a good example of like jobs that come around every now and then and they don't last long but these kind of people are always hiring cuz you know they don't have a steady work force because it only happens once a year or once every two years you can see here in the Alabama area um they got some field representatives they need working from home I don't really know what you do um then there's the D Centennial census opportunities I don't know a decent any o means is that once every 50 years odds who knows but yeah they got a lot of different jobs here and different parts Alabama not gonna be a long term job I don't think but hey while you're looking for a steady job it's cool to like get some some short-term work and this suddenly must be fun this is a good story yeah works for the Census Bureau for three months or four months um things like that I know another government agency that does that is the IRS um they hire and and Eli each state has its own like IRS branch or Department I think um I know I work for the IRS in Georgia before um they during tax time we're always hiring people and then you know you work for like four months and your job is done so there are different government jobs just think about hey what are what are some people that hire you know once a year at this time of year whatever it is that might need my help look for jobs like that not a lot of people will be applying for those jobs because not a lot of people are gonna put in the work to find so yeah the office was pretty cool and then finally um this is just a tip that it's not statewide this is more central to like your city but same as same principle um government jobs this one I just put my random city I don't know where the city of Coleman is in Alabama I have no clue I was born in Birmingham but each city not only does the state government you know have websites but each city will typically have a city website if you live in a ci y they don't have a city website move but you're in Mayberry but um and they will have to list you know most cities are like required by law to like list jobs before they give them to their cousin or uncle you know yeah before the good-old-boy system kicks in they're required by law to list the jobs and a lot of times they'll just list them on their city website so whatever city you live in or the cities that are in a closed radius to you that you don't mind commuting to pull up their local city website go to the job section you can find some job they may not be great jobs they might be part-time airport diner association for a 15-hour at the you know Coleman Regional Airport which probably gets like two planes a day um but then a street department you know it got some jobs 12 16 you know $14 an hour water department of labor is entry-level 11 bucks an hour not bad sanitation department labor 11 but you know so you can find some some decent I'm sure these jobs have some form of benefits and maybe retirement retirement is going out the window these days but there we have the Census Bureau again um but yeah it's just um each city has its own website a lot of times these little cities are not advertising these jobs anywhere other than on their website or in the paper you get to this website you're probably one of the hundred people today who've been here it's probably it and if you go back you go back every day when a new job pops up you'd be one of the first people to apply for you're in a good running getting that job so that was just like ten resources for finding a job in the state of Alabama like I said I hope some of these or things you never thought about and once again just keep going through the googles um there's more and more you know there's tons of companies and food banks of north you know of North Alabama um alabama jobs at Nike there's so many companies that they're there jobs pop up um and it's things that you might not have thought of jobs are Boeing Eli Lilly you know um UTC aerospace like so many companies are hiring here in Alabama if you just do the normal regular job search you're not gonna find them you got to dig deep you got to get back in here to like page you know nine of Google and find some job resources
