You can add security settings to your document by going to Document, Security. The overview of security settings on this document will appear. Click on Change Permissions to edit them. At the top of the PDF Security dialog box, you'll see the files that you'll be applying security to. The document you have will appear by default. But you can apply the security to additional documents if necessary. You can choose to set a password requirement for opening documents. And also for access to printing, copying, or editing documents settings. For the latter, you can also decide which of those functions, a user has when the accessing the document. Below that, you can set the encryption standard for this document. Directly under the Security heading, you'll see a Preset dropdown. Once you've defined settings, you can save them as a preset to use on other documents by clicking Save and giving the preset a name. Once you've added security settings to a document and saved it, those settings will take effect once you reopen the document. When you open a document that requires a password on open, you'll be prompted for the password. On the other, you'll see that in a document where changes are not allowed markups are locked in place and changes cannot be made. Should you try to change those settings, you'll be prompted to enter the password. Finally, a quick way to prevent tampering with markups made on the PDFs, is to flatten the document that you share with others.
