thank you all for being here at 7 30 so uh in ccl fashion we're going to start on time so if i want to really thank all of you for being here tonight and i'm sure a few more people will be coming in um and so um if you can uh take a second just to rename yourself just to put your town or city right after your name if you don't know how to do that if you go and put your the cursor right on your name there'll be three dots up in the corner and if you click on that it'll say rename or if you put your if you open up participants and put your uh also put select your name you'll see where it says more and then you can rename yourself there so just put your name right after i mean your town right after your full name and then also uh if you want to put what you'd like to get out of tonight's training i want you to put that in the chat so we could see that as well and anytime during the training tonight if you have a question go ahead put it in the chat and we'll either get to it right then or where the slide is and john will bring him to our attention um or um uh or we'll get to them at the q a at the end so as so when you think of a question um write it down but write it down in the chat and uh we'll try to get to them all as we go through here tonight so i once again really thank you you know of the the five of the five political levers that we have grass tops is an incredibly important one and you are incredibly important because you're here to learn how to do this and do it better so um why don't we go ahead and i can introduce uh we'll introduce ourselves for your presenters tonight so um steffi would you like to go first please sure yeah so um i've been involved with uh ccl for i think what i don't know now seven seven or eight years um leading the asheville chapter here but also now lead nationally or co-lead with todd elvin's the grasshopps engagement action team which we'll talk about that later you should definitely join that action team um and then helped to set up the um the brewers uh declaration it's one of the first declarations bcl did and did 99 bottlers of beer on the wall we're now shooting for 999 we're up to 200. um and it started here in asheville especially with new belgium so uh super grateful for all those involvements okay thanks and i love going to breweries with steffi so um i'm don kraus i'm one of your tennessee state coordinators and i am also a cto field development coordinator uh which is doing the same thing but in other states uh prior to this and uh i had been the virginia state one of the virginia state coordinators as well before i moved down this way so uh you know i just love being at ccl and the work that we do here and once again i'm just so grateful that you're here we got a lot to cover tonight so we're gonna move it move along and um so um let me just talk a little bit about our agenda so here's the three basic things we want to go over tonight we want to one how do you research and prepare for grass tops relationships in other words how do you identify the grass tops you want to reach out to and what's the information where can you gather information about your member of congress to find out who is the people that will really impact your member of congress as well then we're going to kind of get into really seeking and tracking endorsements setting up presentations with these uh with your potential grass tops endorsers how to go about doing that and then once they actually endorse once they support the carbon innovate the energy innovation carbon dividend act how do you activate them how do you take get them to take a step beyond endorsing and what are some of the steps that you could take so those are the three basic things that we're going to be going over tonight so in terms of grass tops you know members of congress consistently tell us that they need to hear from their grassroots uh i mean sorry the grass tops the local leaders in the community and they're not don't hear enough about that so we've been out there building relationships and then seeking endorsements from local leaders local politicians business owners religious leaders and the heads of local nonprofits sometimes we focus on a specific industry like the brewing industry that steffy had mentioned and you know and we have a lot of fun securing uh letters of support from breweries who really care about the right temperature for growing their hops and on the bill's website which we'll get to you can see quite a long list of not only breweries but many many other endorses of the energy innovation act so leaders can make an online endorsement by the bill's website or they might to agree to join in a lobby meeting to share their eagerness for climate solutions with their members of congress and you know it's important to remember most members of congress at one time wore grass tops themselves so that's why they want to hear from their colleagues and former colleagues and you know i remember hearing a story about a group of ccelers who took their local brewmaster in a meeting with members of congress i feel like i should have a beer with me tonight and when the brewmaster described the importance of a stable climate for growing hops for making beer it seemed to finally click for that member of congress so i want to tell you a story about j butera now jay butter is a super volunteer and you might say he invented the grass tops lever jay lives in pennsylvania and but he was working in miami to try to get a meeting with a republican member of congress and he used a pile of signed endorsements to get the meeting and then he brought community leaders with him to the meeting jay says when i walked into congressman cabela's office with three chambers and step you can click forward with three chamber of congress presidents and three mayors it totally changed the conversation the meeting may have ultimately helped to start the climate solutions caucus so the lesson is that pulling the grass top lever and including community leaders in a lobby meeting may have a big impact on for your members of congress so let me turn it over to steffi now to talk about research yeah so you know we wouldn't want to go into a business meeting without understanding a little bit more about you know who we're going to be talking to right um and also if if we're seeking endorsements for a congressman sorry i have some hair in my mouth um that you need to find out who they're interested in right who would influence them um so first we do research on the interest groups who can influence your your moc your member of congress and so mainly that means um checking out what committees they're on uh what caucuses they're on uh what um their bio to see their past history and who what donors they um you know are donating to them there's a number of resources here for you so i'm going to share my screen and show you those resources um with you okay so first of all the community has um the member of congress bios they're not always complete and some are old so if you want to update those bios you can contact ccl to do that um um or do your own bio on your own time um there's also um let's see i wanted to show you uh yeah this webinar that i'm going to reference later um focusing your grasshoppe's outreach influence your member has an actual link from the resources i believe uh to yeah the bios and some other places on top of um a spreadsheet that you can fill out uh that will allow you to update their bio with with those committees that they serve on with the caucuses that they serve on um any religious connections where they went to school staff connections family connections donor connections so this is a great starting point of a spreadsheet for you to use um and then when it gets to the donors there's opensecrets.org you can simply um search for your members so i don't know if you guys want to give me a member in tennessee that i should search for here anybody everyone's muted oh yeah don do you know of a tennessee member we should try or should i just look up mchenry uh how about um represent representative kustoff kustov how do you spell that k-u-s-t-o-f-f okay there we go so it gives you an amazing wealth of information uh what top industries have donated so insurance real estate um autozone wow tower ventures um down here it talks about you know how much money he's raised etc the top contributors top industries so you really want to start looking at those industries to try and look at what endorsements you can get there there's another place called um fec.gov the federal election commission again um i will search for cusp off right so we go to he's a house representative correct and so you can see senate is there as well and we just type in kustov and click on him and then again it gives you the total contributions etc but there's more information custard for congress let's see raising spending i thought there was more information there there is if you you need to click on the committees at that point steffi and then you could actually find out any individual that contributed more than 200 so you can get together with your chapters and and play who do you know um and do you know you know someone who lives in your in your community that you might know that made a good size contribution that's always a so this is going to be very helpful now some of these donors are going to be super huge and you're not going to want to approach them until you get enough endorsements in their area so you kind of want to you know start small and grow big over time um so that's researching the moc um and then i'm gonna go to the research of uh the companies themselves let's see here so yeah when you research companies um you wanna look up you know i just simple google search really position on find out what position on climate change they might have if it's on their website or on sustainability um you can also look at linkedin for key people like a sustainability or government relations officer those are for the big boys they have them not necessarily the small boys um or small companies i should say trade association or environmental groups that they might belong to and that's also very helpful what competitors what their competitors are doing that might be good to bring into the conversation and looking at the industry climate statements so that they could possibly sign as well so those are sort of the things you'll want to to research the companies um and let me get back to here um there's also by the way as far as tracking um yours you know um who you want to approach we have our own spreadsheet that we use locally that's quite in-depth and i wanted to show that to you so you know this is that spreadsheet you can download from this webinar which will give you links to all this at the end um and they're going in the chat now yeah and they'll also be pasted in the chat great but this is our like local asheville north carolina so eicda endorsements by sector using google spreadsheets we have a whole folder and we have you know our grass tops our grassroots folder we have chapter development folders all that is separate folders and inside the grass tops we have separate folders for the industries we're seeking with all the information we need but as you can see this spreadsheet has tabs at the bottom that show all the various endorsements we have in health or etc as you can see finance and insurance is one of the most difficult the ones in red we will not contact again because they asked us not to uh the ones that are in green are the ones that actually did sign so we all have our name down in the ccl contact column we write notes when we talk to somebody about what our last conversation was you know um you can even put in sometimes dates of when you first contacted them etc so it's quite elaborate but this is going to help you organize locally okay so getting back sorry going back and forth it's not easy y'all so who do you who do you know is the next thing you need to look at right because we can't go after the first the big fish right away you got to start small to grow big um and so um you know it's about personal relationships everyone knows i'm sure a doctor a nurse um a teacher um a business owner so go after the low hanging fruits first we all know someone and it's really those who you know that really matter and maybe if it's a national organization that you know you might want to contact bcl to help you in reaching out to them so if you know someone in a big company that you think would be helpful bcl will definitely help you do that um and so bcl you know i don't know if you guys know who they are business climate leaders um but basically i run the the grass tops engagement action team within community bcl has created their own website and they really have taken this game to a whole nother level they have wonderful webinars like this one working with business climate leaders from prospect to advocate and share with you um their you know how they do things and they'll talk a lot about what i just shared with you about the research and then planning the meeting and don't go into it alone find a team that will help you you know target your industries you think are more important all kinds of things but it is a very helpful webinar um okay so then um you're gonna start to you know look at the resources you have for for that industry and planning the meeting so and how to track the endorsements right so first of all i'm checking the get um which is the grass tops endorsement tracker um if you go to cclusa.org slash get there is a whole tracker there that you can see if anyone else is working on it um so it takes a little time to load here but once it does you can type in a search here to see right away if anyone is looking at that particular company you can also do a look at your chapter to see who's all endorsed in your chapter um i actually have tennessee written into the state province so it's not showing anything for my chapter but believe me we have 120 endorsements but the advanced search if you put in tennessee um as the state province here it will pull up all the endorsements and the ones in green are the ones who've endorsed and it will tell you whether they've endorsed the bill or carbon fian dividend or leaders letter or other things that are going on so get familiar with the get for sure um the second thing is um checking the bcl website they have tons of sectors that they focus on with really high-end um people who've basically worked with large companies and they just know how to talk to those large entities um randy salem is the one who helped me with the beverage moving our endorsements from local to national to grow it because he saw the ability to do so and so he helped to create those first declarations for the brewers and then has expanded it to wineries and seafood etc so you would go to that beverage sector and then contact them on info business climate leaders and say hey i need some help i'm looking to target this industry do you have time to talk to me about it or any resources or whatever they do have all the declarations are listed under take action so you can see here the brewers climate declaration is here and it has a nice video that bcl put together uh then the the climate declaration and then all the signatories which is at a 202 today um and then they would click this to sign versus going to the energy innovation act because this will bring them to the energy innovation form but tag it as a brewery up in the url and then they can be added to the declaration so it's really key that you make sure you they get to the right place and not just send them to energy innovation act if there's an actual declaration for a particular industry because it shows them in force in a group that all these groups you know have signed so there's healthcare carbon free energy companies health professionals seafood wineries agriculture and then there's also the resources um which is amazing um well let's see so this is not so the resources that i'm talking about is bclresources.org and it shows the industry resources right here so if you're going to look at food and beverage for the brewery campaign or the seafood or winery you go here you click on those links and you get a brewer's tool k t that shows you step by step what to do there's tons of other information a sample email um video support um carbon calculator for breweries there's a cost impact analysis of the eicda on a six pack of beer in year one and year ten um get just an amazing wealth even a certificate that you can hand them when they when they um sign so certificate of endorsement is right here um which i personally designed so the resources for bcl is amazing and i just highly encourage you to use them all right so getting back okay um so then you have the grass types engagement action team um that is in community under the um of course the action teams um hopefully you guys know where those are located but just do a search and we'll give you the links later as well it'll be in the chat just join the grasshoppers engagement action team because we basically have tons of past webinars um let me share with you that again okay all right so if we go to community and you go to connect with others um and click the action teams we are over here grasshopps engagement and so on the first page there's um tons of links to past webinars that we've done where we interview someone from various industry so the automotive sector endorsements was the last one where norma sofransky in north carolina got a toyota endorsement and now we're trying to target that throughout the state um there's insurance and finance endorsements health care professionals um you know the breweries the wineries are down here professional trade associations labor outreach economist support so all that will help you understand how one person or two got an endorsement or a resolution done and how they went about it the pitfalls they learned and the successes um so please join that that's every month um as well so then uh the last thing that we talk about there is um keeping track of the endorsements which i already showed you the google spreadsheet and organizing it by sector uh then we also transfer it to a google doc where we actually organize by sector in a word document and that's something that makes it easy for when you do go lobby to show them instead of giving this long list that's just a mix of everything it's really good i've my staffer actually thanked me for organizing it into industries because it was just getting too much for him to really understand and glance at now he can look at our google doc and see there's 20 construction companies who've signed there's 15 realtors there's 20 breweries etc so i really recommend you doing that as well all right don it's your turn sure well thank you stephie so um i'm going to put a link another link i know you've had a ton of links in here today um but we're going to be using a google document for this next little breakout that we're going to be doing because what we're going to do um and it's the google document i just put in there and so we're going to be great breaking into groups of four and john's gonna be setting that up for us and then for the next 12 minutes we're going to practice brainstorming a list of grasshops we'd like to engage with our communities we're going up to record them in the google doc so that you can link to them from the chat so this this link that you have here will be in the chat once you're in your breakout room and one person from each group be the note taker um and we'll so we'll do this real time and everyone will be putting it to this google doc from each of the breakout rooms together so first we'll brainstorm grass grasshopps who you think would particularly influence your member of congress this could be people like the president or owner of a local business that's important to your community or your local mayor or the senior partner of a law firm that your member of congress used to work for or the pastor of your members of congress's church so that's the first thing we're gonna do in the breakout and then uh and so we'll do that for seven for about six seven minutes and then we'll get a list of grass tops that we that you personally know such as you might know a local city council member you might know a business owner like the owner of the real estate brokerage who helped you buy or sell your home or the spiritual leader of your religious congregation the president of a local organization like a rotary club or a chamber of congress the owner of a restaurant that you like to go to or um or brewery of course that you like to go to since that seems to be our thing tonight um or uh or a professor at a local university that you worked with or learned from it's okay if the same people are on both lists so that's what we're gonna do we're gonna populate this google spreadsheet with your thoughts so rather than and just don't put just their name bill jones put bill jones uh pastor at such and such church so that's what your notetaker and your groups will be doing so and then we're done we'll come back we'll look at this doodle doc together so please record them while you're talking and for this purpose it doesn't have to be in any particular order and um and remember when john opens up the breakout rooms which we're going to do right now click join you're going to get one minute at the end of it where it'll be a little warning that'll say okay one minute keep talking to the end of that you'll come back into the full session so john could you are we ready we're ready to go on the breakout rooms yes there's a couple rooms that i'll have five people in but you're all set and just don't forget to unmute yourself okay go have fun this is great so you know just all the ideas come in this google doc i'm still typing it's okay that's good that's a good thing all right hey stephanie could you share that list oh sure i'm gonna mute everybody too or all right i have it open if you want me to share it um i can get that shared let's see right here okay everybody see this we're just gonna yeah we'll just take a quick minute you guys did great okay so let's let me start at the top steppy um okay so uh you know uh who who can we do so for it looks like uh beach buff insurance company autozone in nashville uh there's a attorney state of tennessee positions the mayor of nashville was uh will influence a member of congress there we have some people are putting in like kinds of people faith leaders and farm bureaus are great um let's see uh agricultural business a lot of people's one suggestion was go to a farmers market and find out who the leaders in the farm community are and i think that's a great concept for tennessee um uh healthcare workers right you know uh doctors that you know and uh let's see it's moving uh university presidents if you know that yeah those are great economists and economists you could always look and see who's signed on the economist statement there's been a lot of work done on that um local changes chamber congress nissan bmw rotary clubs and then people we personally know this is great someone knows bill greer the president of milligan university fantastic um the president of uh uh nashville uh community college shannon jackson um let's see who else do we have lori spicer one of uh methodist united way branch state senator briggs great okay these are all great so if all of these if we know all these people um personally those are great people now representative steve cohen he's he's one our our one co-sponsor so we don't usually get members of congress to endorse we get them to co-sponsor and he's already there um but um but we can get him to do more on this issue um so these are just some great reverend mary beth at the uh methodist church over there in tennessee eight uh scott conger the mayor of jackson great um we've got another brewer over there cody spooksberry we know some people who know the head of a boy scout and i don't know what a group like a boy scouts would do but that would be really good to find out agricultural extension offices um you know they might make endorsements so this is a really good list of lo of people who can influence low hanging fruit we'll hold on to this link and you can come back and use this and the reason we want to do this is not just for this brainstorm here but for all of you to go back to your chapters and do the same kind of brainstorm with people in your chapters because you're going to really have a much much more expansive list when you get to do this with everyone in your chapter and this is this is the kind of brainstorming that's great to do okay so um let's move on here let's move on from here um and come on stephanie once you share your screen and um and then we're gonna come on back in so steffi it's over to you okay great so then we're gonna talk about the engagement and endorsement part so scheduling preparing presenting and following up right um so engaging with a local community leader is a lot like building a relationship with your member of congress you know you need to start out by learning about that community leader before the meeting be super prepared um you know typically we email them first i really recommend you keep the email short you don't want to do this long diatribe of information because they're not going to read it they just these leaders are too busy so if you can keep it short and sweet and pique their interest make it curtailed to what their industry is and just say could we have a meeting you know a virtual meeting and follow up with a phone call in some cases as well definitely because sometimes they don't respond to emails so you just gotta you know call them and say hey did you get my email um so just try to get to a yes or no for the meeting and certainly recognize that they are busy and that you understand that and you know if they can't meet at this time if there's another time please let us know um or if you can't meet i can certainly understand it's just we are trying to get show more support on and get some climate action um and then plan the meeting just like you do your lobby meeting um you know have an agenda of who talks when um start off appreciating them you know have an appreciation ready and i find that asking open-ended questions especially at the beginning is really important it's so helpful when you can understand first of all where they're coming from by asking them questions like how does climate impact you and your business are you worried about climate in your industry um are you aware of carbon pricing do you know what carbon pricing is to get a sense for what they know instead of just diving into it expecting that they don't know anything about it some actually do um so get their take on it um and then you know those are the first great questions i like to ask and then you know you want to build that trusting relationship so having respect and appreciation polite persistence does pay off for example i had an accountant today that is my accountant i was dealing with emails back and forth i had written him first to ask him could we talk about because these economists fully support it being being an accountant i figured this might be of interest to you he didn't respond right away he he um he answered my other question on my accounting but didn't respond that he'd like to have a meeting so i followed up and i said hey i know you're really busy just wanted to check and see if you understood what i had asked before you know would you could you want to would you be interested in talking about this and he said oh i'm so sorry i missed that in your email which made me feel better like okay okay it wasn't just him ignoring me so it does take polite persistence and believe me eventually uh they will they will respond hopefully and then following up after the meeting with an email and a phone call to ask if they have any more questions about it is um the best way to go um all right so messaging um first of all there's an eight minute webinar how often do we get a short webinar like that that talks about the five main messages and we'll go over that in one of the following slides um what they are but i really encourage you to watch it it was really well done and very short um there's also other webinars on how the legislation works that's another seven minute webinar we recommend you watch that as well all these links will put in the chat and in the resources at the end um the energy innovation act q a they have resources there and community for you and how to um handle challenging questions about the energy innovation act so having that by your side when you get a challenging question is is going to be helpful as well so this is the find me five main messages and think e g g b r right so e g g b r and that will happen huh egg bur egg bur exactly so um effective this policy will reduce america's emissions by at least 40 percent within 12 years and you could mention and 90 by 2050 it's supported by economists and scientists as simple comprehensive and effective good for people this policy will improve health and save lives by reducing pollution that americans breathe additionally the carbon dividend puts money directly into people's pockets every month to spend as they see fit helping low and middle income americans good for the economy this policy creates 2.1 million additional jobs over the next 10 years thanks to economic growth in local communities across america bipartisan republican and democrats and vote are both on board co-sponsoring this bill together the majority of americans support congress taking action on climate change and solving climate change is too urgent to get caught up in partisan politics and last revenue neutral the fees collected on carbon emissions will be allocated to all americans to spend any way they choose the government will not keep any of the fees collected so the size of our government will not grow now these points we actually have in a paragraph that's really a little bit shorter than that but compasses all these points that you're going to get trained on but that's really what i'm sending now in my intro email and what i start going over at the beginning in meetings because it's really succinct in hitting all the main benefits of the bill okay so and the good news is all of these slides that we're showing you right now uh what you're going to have a link to this this whole presentation so you can just take these slides you set up your zoom call with the person that you want to talk to because you know once again we're with covid right now so you can show them these slides and you'll have the notes from the slides and uh so while you're talking with them you can focus their attention on this so this is the next one is how does it work you know the energy innovation carbon dividend act will drive down america's carbon pollution and bring climate change under control while unleashing americans america's technology and our ingenuity it puts a fee on carbon at the source at the well at the mine at the port of entry and then it gives the money back to households and it has a couple of other provisions to make this policy really work in today's political environment imported goods are subject to the same to a carbon fee at the border if their country that they're coming from does not have a very similar price on carbon and also there'll be a very narrow regulatory pause on only the greenhouse effect of co2 for 10 years and this avoids doubling up on penalties it gives the policy a chance to really meet ambitious targets and it provides period provides periodic um predictability i'm sorry to businesses so they can plan to change if the targets aren't met then this legislation makes sure that those regulations snap back in full force after the evaluation a matter of fact it mandates the epa to start regulating the carbon dioxide after 10 years so that this is how it works you put a fee on carbon at the source you make it rise up a little bit every year all the money goes back to households carbon border adjustments regulatory adjustment and then if you go into the next slide this is the energy innovation carbon div and neck website you can see on the bottom there's those five points that uh egbert that steffy talked about effective good for people good for the economy bipartisan revenue neutral you'll see that right there on that lower menu and then on the top right there's this menu over here on how it works news statements and these are statements about the legislation supporters and this is where all the people who have endorsed the legislation live and then endorse the bill of the place where the people you're talking to can actually endorse the legislation so this is something that you're going to want to show this page to the website and to them while you're talking with them and you'll definitely want to share this one the endorse the energy innovation carbon dividend act all they need to do is fill out this little form and note they can do it as an organization you know i want to do it for my organization for the uh your town's rotary club or is a prominent individual you know your pastor might not be comfortable in having the whole church support this but will lend their name to this so it's at the level that they're comfortable but that's all they need to do is they fill this out um and then when it's endorsed as and you'll get a notification particularly if you put your their company information or their information in the tracker you'll get a note that they have now endorsed and at that point you want to make sure that your liaison also knows about this so they can communicate new endorsements to your member of congress and if you want to move on to the next one stephie so we're going to do a little role play over here and um so uh what we're going to do is uh we are now going to role play um we're going to groups of two this time and for the next 10 minutes we're going to practice a meeting with grasshopp's prospects first we'll talk about the benefits of the innovation carbon dividend act and we're going to by reading a paragraph that john's gonna put in the chat and so you'll when you're in the breakout room open up the chat you'll see the paragraph so first read that out loud to your partner and then after you read the paragraph say it in your own words what you remember about the benefits think egber then talk about how it works and how grass top influencer can easily endorse it individually for their business or organization each you will take a five minute turn um and then the person whose birthday comes earliest in the year will go first and then we'll get back together and we'll share what we have learned okay so that's what we're going to do in this um and if for some reason you wind up just by yourself in a breakout room you're going to get john to join you on in there as well and we love john because he's the best regional coordinator around um so uh i'm gonna i so that that is now in the chat um and so everyone could uh see that hopefully um i want to make sure i got it all in there uh okay so um john are you ready to move us into breakout rooms we're all set and just remember you have to unmute yourself have fun welcome back we're just waiting a couple more seconds while people trickle back in sure i'm happy too bye-bye i'm gonna go ahead and mute everybody so steffy and don you'll have to unmute yourselves okay all right so uh let me oops sorry i thought i had unmuted myself but now i have um before we get into activating endorses just let me see how did that go in your ask when you were practicing that if it was good give me a thumbs up um okay i still see some thumbs up there um okay and uh you could put into the chat too if there's something else that you want some more practice on put it in the chat and we can loop back around after this training so that would be real helpful all right steffi over to you okay great so um now we're going to talk about activating the endorsers right so after you've had a meeting with them they've endorsed um now this is where you're really trying to get their endorsement into the public eye or or if they're not ready to endorse they could do a number of other things either way but just trying to activate them um it really does matter especially when you bring in a member um a business person that's you know that your member of congress is interested in that industry bringing them into the meeting is amazing what it can do um you know we were able to get an in-district meeting with about five brewers because our congressman is the vice chair of the small burst caucus and he he definitely wanted to meet and knew some of the brewers so it was by far one of the best meetings we had it was a full hour you know normally in lobby meetings only get 15 20 minutes so you know that is one huge thing especially being virtual now we can bring in a lot of more of these business owners um in december and so i strongly encourage you trying to get a good group of endorsers together and have them do the meeting um so you know um getting them talking to their member your member of congress either scheduling a call or meeting with a member of congress you can help with that works really well especially if they know them um or you can have them talk to the newspaper you can help them either write an op-ed or have them just write their own op-ed or letter to the editor um uh issue a press release um they can also host a site visit that in-district option like i talked about having a round table like we did with the brewers and also presenting at a chamber professional group rotary have or or invite you to introduce you to them is also another thing so you do the presentation but they just get the meeting um a union or trade association etc um and uh have them engage with their colleagues like if they know other if they're in that industry and they signed have them write an email to invite others you could write the email for them that really helps i know with the wineries it it the one main brewer that they talk to is really well known the first winery and they worked out something where they were able to send emails on behalf of the winery and that spurred on a ton of other wineries to sign because they knew raffled me winery vineyards so um and then last my favorite is the video testimonials and i don't know if you guys saw um recently free solo uh celebrity that was i just i love i love i'm in love with that man um but he did an awesome video testimonial and uh and then there was brett suter who's a baseball pitcher right so you know asking them to do something simple like that and giving them talking points that they can do on their own while at home is is i think a great thing and then they post it on their social media and share it with the world so those are lots of ways to to get them to to take next steps okay so stephie we're at 8 44 right now and we promised to be over at 8 45 so let's skip over this slide tonight it will be in the slide deck that people have because um i want to be able to make sure people can get to everything so um here's two things that i'd like you to be able to do is first off if you want to save this chat this is just a good thing to know for any kind of zoom meeting it doesn't work on if you're on an ipad i don't believe but on any of your lap pc's laptops etc if you click open up chat and click the three dots to the right at the bottom right that'll be open up more and click save chat it will save it as a text file on your computer and then you'll have all of everything that was in the chat all the links so and this is good to know just for any zoom call that you are on but also uh we have in here um we've given you a link and steffi's showing that now and this is every single link that we talked about tonight is in this document and that we've shared that document for you and it's in the chat right now so what i want you to do is either save the chat or click on that last link right now everyone go click on that last link no matter what device you're on and then bookmark it okay and that will give you all of these slides it will give you everything uh every single link that we have in here so go open it up bookmark it or and or save the chat and that way you'll have access to all of this information of course you could always contact me and say gee i couldn't find that where was that again i'm happy to help you out with that because you made the effort to be here tonight so we want you to have this now we said we didn't we wanted this to be uh for an hour and 15 minutes you know this is the first time we've done this presentation we are running a little bit late but we do want some time for your questions so john if you could just unmute everyone and i don't think i saw any questions in the chat but if you have a few questions right now if you want to stay on for the questions we're happy to answer if you want to hop off we certainly understand and want to respect your time so um if you want to unmute yourself ask a question right now and we'll be able to get into this and steffy if you could stop sharing your screen oh yeah i just wanted to say thank you so much to steffy and don for this excellent presentation thank you thank you for having me yeah and and i can say steffy has been my mentor on this she's just awesome we'll also be uh putting this recording on our appalachia region youtube channel so if you want to watch it again um you can uh we'll send out a link to you guys for that yeah um i'm sorry we'll send the youtube channel we'll send it out to everyone all right so anyone have a question that they wanted to ask me okay thank you all right well if you don't have any guys right now no burning questions then let's say good night i'm so glad you joined us tonight thank you all very much

Frequently asked questions

Learn everything you need to know to use airSlate SignNow eSignatures like a pro.

How do you make a document that has an electronic signature?

How do you make this information that was not in a digital format a computer-readable document for the user? " "So the question is not only how can you get to an individual from an individual, but how can you get to an individual with a group of individuals. How do you get from one location and say let's go to this location and say let's go to that location. How do you get from, you know, some of the more traditional forms of information that you are used to seeing in a document or other forms. The ability to do that in a digital medium has been a huge challenge. I think we've done it, but there's some work that we have to do on the security side of that. And of course, there's the question of how do you protect it from being read by people that you're not intending to be able to actually read it? " When asked to describe what he means by a "user-centric" approach to security, Bensley responds that "you're still in a situation where you are still talking about a lot of the security that is done by individuals, but we've done a very good job of making it a user-centric process. You're not going to be able to create a document or something on your own that you can give to an individual. You can't just open and copy over and then give it to somebody else. You still have to do the work of the document being created in the first place and the work of the document being delivered in a secure manner."

How to digitally sign documents with microsoft?

(and also if you can help me find and use the image to put on the blog) I just recently downloaded and got started using Microsofts Office 365 for personal use and while the docs are free, if you really want to make use of this product, the software has a steep (read: not free) price tag. I know that it says you need to upgrade, but what if I can do this on my own, or as a guest (so that I am not going over my limit)? (and not having the upgrade fee is also a big benefit.) Can you please direct me to where to find the docs and how to digitally sign the docs I would like to use?
