hey what's going on it's your guy mojo here today I'm gonna take you on my path from how I set up my LLC in the state of North Carolina in 2018 North Carolina now enables you to create your business online and you can submit all the documents online and go through the entire process which is pretty nice compared to what they had last year so to start it off as you see I'm on the Secretary of State's website it's wwws OS NC gov and this is kind of your starting point for submitting your LLC documents as you see up top you have a list of menu options I'm already signed into my account but if you don't have an account setup set one up this will say sign in if you don't have an account you just click sign in and then it will say new user click new user and you'll be able to set up your new login and screen name for your business so from there you want to go down to the second option of menus and you want to go to I want to you want to click this menu option and now you'll see the drop-down and there's a ton of options you have here so the first thing you want to do is go to general public and then just go to start a business click that and as you see here it takes you to this nice page where it kind of summarizes the steps you should take to start the LLC in North Carolina online as you see it starts out from choose a business structure so if you're watching this you already know you want to start an LLC if you're not quite sure I put down below in the description a couple of links they give some advice on which business structure you should choose based on the business that you have and it can vary from person to person but at least it'll give you a starting point on what to choose next you'll see you want to choose a name now from here when you're starting at an LLC you want to make sure that your name is not the same as anybody else's so I'm going to show you real quick where I went to check that my name was unique in the state of North Carolina so we're gonna put this to the side where it'll go to out one two and then one go to attorneys and paralegals and we're gonna go search for a business and here you want to search by company starting with and I wanted to name my company mojo travels Music as you see there's zero workers found with anything related to that but let's say you have a more a generic name that you're trying to name a company I'm gonna show you what pops up so search again let's say clean search and now you'll see that it shows in North Carolina all the registered and dissolved and you know if they have multiple statuses for the LLC's but everything that has clean or a version of clean in the name in the LLC so what you want to do is just go through this list if you search your business name just make sure that none of them are close to what you're trying to make your business name and if you're good to go from there you want to go back to I want to general public start a business they're from here you want to go to register your business get started and again it gives you a nice summary of what goes on here now they give a great resource in this little blurb paragraph if you click this link I'll show you what goes on here this is a free resource in the state of North Carolina that gives you advice you can call them up during their business hours which is Monday through Friday 8:00 to 5:00 p.m. and they offer one-on-one consultations free this is free support a free service to help you start your small business in the state of North Carolina they'll make sure that if you have any questions beyond what I'm showing you today or just in general with your business use these free resources it's a they've been a great help for me and they can definitely guide you down the right path to help you set up your small business in the state of North Carolina and I put this link in the description below but here it is right up here and I'm just going to click back to the Secretary of State website and it's also in the paragraph right here this is down below in this video description if you need this information so from here you have two options you have preparing your documents and cementing their documents first you want to go to prepare get started and kind of skip through this because we already know that up in LLC I'm gonna go down and you'll see the form used to create a domestic entity and you want to go down to you see limited liability company and I'll see articles of organization and its form L dash zero one as you see there's a $125 fee to submit this form to the state of North Carolina you just when they click this when you click the link you'll see automatically that the L dash your one LLC document that you want to submit pops up and in this first page it kind of gives you short blurbs on what each option down here means and how to fill this out this is a very simple document to fill out I personally don't think that you need to pay anybody a fee to fill this out for you you you have all the capability in yourself to fill this out it's very simple if you have any questions about what any of these mean such as registered agent or principal office Google is your best friend Google Google of those terms and answer will pop up or you can ask below and I can give you some some advice on what those need but you can fill this out make sure that you have the most up-to-date Adobe or PDF any kind of PDF software just make sure it's up to date and you can fill this out if you have the most update software that means you can save it and come back to it if you don't have the most up-to-date software you can fill it out in one time and print it out and then sign it and then rescan it back to your computer after you sign it so then once you fill this out sign it rescan it back to your your computer we're gonna go back to the state secretary website and we've got that information done now we want to go back to register your business and we wanted to click submitting the document online submission well you click that link you'll see that it takes you to that pretty much how to submit your business documents online it gives you step-by-step how to do all that this gives you some good information if you want some background on on the actual step-by-step process I've kind of covered a lot of this already but what you can do from here is if you're already signed in you have your login you've already scanned in your LLC documents signed and you're ready to go you have your payment ready you just want to go up here to this menu bar go to online services drop down you went all the way over to the left and go to business registration create a business online click that link you see when you click that link it takes you to the submitted filing and from here basically it's just going through the motions of answering the questions and then as you go through you'll get to a point where you can submit your actual document and remember that you're submitting articles of organization for limited liability and once you go through that process that I asked you for your payment information and then you submit and then you're good to go usually three to five business days is the average return rate for your notice from the government of North Carolina whether your business has been created and that's pretty much it as you see the process has changed in North Carolina but it's not art at all it's actually very simple I enjoy going through this process learning the website at first it was a little frustrating but as you learn the different menu options you actually learned that they actually just trying to help you out and give you as much information as possible so if you have any questions please comment down below if
