How to write and sign a pdf?

I have the pdf with my own signature, but I want to add a few words to it. I think I've heard that there is a way of doing this in the pdf editor, but I'm having some trouble with it.Is this possible? Is there a special function I should be using to do this? If I do this and I don't want to print it, can I get it removed from the pdf file and just print the signature? I have an older version of Adobe Reader which does not support these functions. Also, can anyone tell me whether this is the right place to add the "Print" button to a pdf document? I've already tried a bunch of places and no success so far. Thanks, and please feel free to share this info with other users.
