How to generate an electronic signature?

The answer lies in the history of cryptography and how it developed over the years. In 1792, Joseph Priestly and Charles Babbage published their "Mathematical Notations of Natural Philosophy" for the purpose of designing an encrypted book. The work was a huge success and Priestly wrote a book on how to make the book's encryption more secure. Babbage, however, did not think there was any point in encrypting books, as they could be read easily from the outside. He wanted the encryption to be hidden from anyone who read it. This is where the use of secret keys comes into the picture. The key was what was used to encrypt data. Once that data was decrypted, the key was used, and that was it, the data was revealed, and the secret key needed to be used again.
