What makes the cbsa c6 legally binding?
When completing the cbsa forms, you should pay attention to a few principal things to get a valid form and save your time that could be wasted rewriting trial samples over and over again.
Very first, select the right service for submitting and putting your signature on a record. There are not many plarforms like airSlate SignNow that are compliant with essential policies and acts like ESIGN, UETA, GDPR and HIPAA and many others. If you don't intend to sign your form by hand, check your solution's compliance to make certain your signature will be recognized as valid, and avoid wasting time using a low-quality system.

What are the dirty secrets of the IT/software industries in India?
A 24 yo upright female here. I am just one project old. I would like to share a few “dirty secrets” of whatever I have dealt with in IT (writing helps me get rid of frustration, temporarily).I joined a very well known, at the tip of tongue MNC in 2017, straight out of college. I had high hopes and expectations. HAD.I was the only ASE in the project. My lead used to hit on me during lunch breaks. And during the other times, he would casually ping me asking me about my “personal life” and if I liked to drink. Even after telling him innumerable times that I don’t drink, he would keep pestering me. So after a month of this nonsense, I told him on his face that even if I drink, I would never drink with you. He never bothered me after that. After a few weeks, my lead changed. The new one was a female. And boy she had atti! I worked with another co-worker(8 years exp) and this piece of brainless shit Lead. These two women fucked me up for god knows what reasons. They always used to talk me down, laughed at me because “I didn’t know the technology I was working with”. I never received any form of KT from these two bootlickers. When I escalated the same to my manager, he took no action against them. I signNowed out to my HR. That s o b was good for nothing. He ignored me. I realized I am fucked.A few teammates( 29 yo horny f**ks) used to ping me incessantly. Asking me out on dates. Once they understood nothing was going to happen, they fucked me up. How? They started spreading “rumors” about me.Majority people here are bootlickers and cocksuckers. And these people are the ones who end up getting appraisals.I was given 0% increase, even though I had pulled off all nighters, going to office on saturdays and sundays , just to get shit done. Realization? Sabko chutiya banao aur manager ki g**nd chaato. Appraisal milega.Everyone believes senseless rumors, esp if it’s about a girl.I had applied for unpaid leave because of major health issues. They were downright rejected. Why? Because useless manager couldn’t find another resource to fill in.I am hoping to leave IT for good. I know there are toxic people everywhere but I can’t deal with mediocre and pea brained crowd. Thanks for reading. I was just taking out my frustrations.

What is the most ridiculously oversimplified not-necessarily mathematical or scientific proof that you have seen/can think of?
Back in second year, one of my lecturers accidentally published his draft version of his lecture notes, rather than the finished product. It was only up online for about an hour, before it got replaced, but I was one of the lucky few who got to experience it.It was glorious. You see, in this draft, the lecturer had left a lot of gaps, which he was coming back to fill in later. However, rather than leave a literal gap — or filling it with lorum ipsum type gibberish, this lecturer was obviously having a childish moment, because it was filled with crude jokes and insults. As far as we know, he never got in trouble with it, and I've only ever found 2 or 3 other people who saw it.There were such glorious conclusions to proofs as:[math]\displaystyle \mathcal{F}(f*g) = \mathcal{F}(f)\cdot \mathcal{F}(g) \tag*{}[/math][math]\displaystyle \therefore \begin{align}&\text{your mother's so fat her Fourier transform}\\&\text{tends to a Delta function} \end{align}\tag*{}[/math]That's one hell of a proof. And the best bit? It's actually a mathematically sound joke. Wide functions in real space are narrow in Fourier space, and vice versa. At one point he ended up with an integral which he converted via substitutions to:[math]\displaystyle \text{so we can write this as }25e^x \tag*{}[/math][math] \displaystyle\text{of course, we can split this up into:}\tag*{}[/math][math]\displaystyle 5e^x + 5e^x +5e^x+5e^x + 5e^x \tag*{}[/math][math]\displaystyle \text{Many of you may notice that this is just 5 times } 5e^x \tag*{}[/math][math]\displaystyle \text{That's how much more sex the arts students are having} \tag*{}[/math](Can't argue with that logic.)But my favourite “proof” in this document was:[math]\displaystyle \therefore \tilde{f}(k) = 3 \frac{\sin(qR) -qR \cos(qR)}{q^3} \tag*{}[/math][math]\displaystyle \begin{align}& \textbf{Proof: } \text{Because I fucking said so}\\&\text{you little punks. I am the LORD thy God,}\\ &\text{and thou shalt worship the everloving shit out of me} \end{align}\tag*{}[/math][math]\displaystyle \text{KNEEL BEFORE YOUR GOD!} \tag*{}[/math]We called this “proof by apotheosis” — and more than once when somebody has asked for help, the answer has been “BECAUSE I AM YOUR GOD!”.It's a really useful mathematical trick — using it can help you solve anything.Riemann hypothesis? I AM YOUR GOD! THOU SHALT NOT HAVE NON TRIVIAL ZEROS OF THE ZETA FUNCTION EXCEPT WHEN RE(Z)==1/2!Done.P=NP? P SHALL EQUAL NP ONLY WHEN THE END OF DAYS COMES, AND THE FAITHFUL SHALL RISE UP TO HEAVEN.Boom. Done.Just by asserting your absolute supremacy over time and space, you can prove anything!

“Which Tank will Will Fill up First? (example with 12 tanks, A to L, see question source for image)
This is a recent meme that’s getting shared on facebook and elsewhere. Repeating the image from the question source:This is a question that has gone viral recently. Most people answer “G”.But look closely, as the question says. Many of the pipes are blocked - the line that blocks off D from C is not a mistake. To find the real answer (this is assuming a low flow rate, as after all it is shown as a drip in the diagram):From A to B to C is straightforward. None of them can fill before the next one.J is a bit more complex. But as you fill J, as soon as the water rises to the outlet to L it overflows to L. So it can never get any higher. Yes, its level also rises in the outlet tube leading to I, but it can never get high enough to overflow to I.So it flows to L, which in turn fills F.So which fills first, L or F?By the time F is full, L will only be partly full (with the water at the same level for both). So your F is the answer. This video shows the idea, an animation by Nick Rossi using a physics engine, AlgodooIt doesn't quite flow like a real fluid, as he says, but it's enough to get the answer and show how it works. Here is another animation Which will fill first? from THE FLOW... by CorneliaXaosWhich will fill first? by CorneliaXaosThat answers the question, since it shows a dripping tap at a slow flow rate. But let’s go off on a tangent.WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WATER IS POURED INTO A AT A FASTER FLOW RATEIf the flow is very fast then obviously A will fill first. However, could any of the others fill up first before F and before A?It’s’ governed by the Hagen–Poiseuille equation so long asthe flow is due to a pressure difference.the fluid is incompressible and Newtonian (water is, approximately).the flow is laminar (not turbulent) - it is with water if it flows slowly through a narrow pipe.through a pipe of constant circular cross-sectionthat is substantially longer than its diameter, and there is no acceleration of fluid in the pipe. All those conditions seem to apply. The pipes are substantially longer than their diameter which is one of the most important requirements. And they are narrow, and the fluid is water.Under those conditionsIf the outlet is above water, the flow rate is proportional to the height of the head of water above the inlet to the pipe. If the outlet is below water, it’s proportional to the difference in height between the water above the inlet and the water above the outlet. The difference in height of the water here is often called the “head” of water. It is inversely proportional to the length of the pipe.Or in short, the flow rate for laminar flow, in a pipe signNowly longer than its diameter, is proportional to the pressure difference, and so to the head of water, but it is also inversely proportional to the length of the pipe.(it also depends on the radius of the pipe and the viscosity of the water but those are the same for all our pipes).Techy details. The equation is:There L is the length of the pipe and R is its radius.Q is the flow rate (what we are looking for).ΔP is the difference in pressure between the two ends of the pipe, which for water is proportional to the difference in height of the inlet and the outlet. Finally μ is the dynamic viscosityAll of those are constant (the pipes are all the same radius, and the viscosity is constant) except for L, the length of the pipe, Q which we are interested in and ΔP.So our equation simplifies to Q = c ΔP / L, where c is a constant which is the same for all the pipes in our example because they are all the same radius.Double the length of the pipe and you halve the flow rate. Double the head and you double the flow rate.So now for instance, can L fill at any flow rate? Its outlet is a very long pipe. Even if L is nearly full of water ,the head of water in F will mean the difference in heads between L and F is quite small even if F is nearly full and L is likewise. Its inlet is a much shorter pipe. Whether L can fill will depend on whether we can get J to have a high head to increase the flow rate of L's inlet pipe to more than that of its outlet pipe. But, at least at first sight, it would seem that such a high flow rate could mean that one of the other tanks earlier in the chain could fill firstSo - it’s quite a finely balanced question, and hard to answer.A obviously can fill first with a very fast flow rate, just fill it faster than it can empty.Well we can actually try this out with a real world experiment :).Well we can actually try this out with a real world experiment :).Prozix has made a 3D printed version of the puzzle. If you have a 3D printer you can download it here and print it out and test it yourself: Answer to the question Which one fill First / water equilibrium system by prozixI don’t have a 3D printer but he has uploaded some videos.First this is what happens with a slow flow rateNote that at 22 seconds in, J nearly fills briefly. If you look closely, you see that a bubble forms in the outlet from J to L, which makes sense, it’s a downward pipe and air is buoyant. The bubble then gets pushed out into L and then bursts. This shows the bubble just before it bursts (you can show the video at 1080p from the Settings)So - if the pipes are very thin - or the flow is just right - that might lead to J filling right there, if you can arrange it to fill before the bubble disperses. So even at a slow rate we have something anomalous already, though its because of a bubble. But what happens at faster flow rates? I asked in a comment to the video, and Prozix was interested and answered with a new videoAt 28 seconds in, at one of the flow rates, then L and F fill at the same time. Here, it all makes sense up to J. J can’t fill (apart from that possibility due to the bubble) at this stage because the pipe from C to J has only a tiny head above its inlet. It’s outlet is about twice as long as its inlet, perhaps more.Aside: If C was nearly full, J would start to fill, and if we could have the level of water stay below the outlet into L while J fills, then C with its shorter pipe could continue to fill J even when it is nearly full. But as it is now, there is no chance of J filling. So that makes sense. But how can F fill at the same time as L? That's more mysterious. The pipe from L to F is three times the length of the pipe from J to L. Meanwhile, in the situation shown here, the head from J to L is about double the head from L to F.So by the Hagen Pousseville equation again, the flow rate from L to F should be about two thirds of the flow rate from J to L in this situation where J is half full and both L and F are almost full.So you expect L to fill faster than F.So, I don’t think they can get into this situation at all, with a steady flow into L. There must be something going on that doesn’t fit our assumptions of laminar flow, or something else such as a bubble forming.Let’s look at what lead up to this. If you look at the video, L fills faster than F to start with, keeping nearly the same head from L to F as from J to L.L is clearly filling faster than F and is on track to beat it. There is no sign of any bubbles in the inlet to L.But then a little while later you get this (25 seconds in)Now F is filling faster than J. Something has happened to reduce the flow rate into L, which then permits the two levels between L and F to equalize. But the head going into L hasn’t changed. Also the input pipe to L is full and there are no bubbles. I think the only possible answer is turbulence. You can see waves forming in J so maybe that means there’s a bit of turbulence impeding the flow from J to L, especially since the water level for J is exactly at the level for the outlet to L. What are your thoughts? This is what happened with a moderately fast flow rate:Here is the video starting at that point. All of A, B, C, J, L and F are just about full. B, L and F started to overflow first and I think L just about beat the other two though it was almost simultaneous. In this frame you can see L just about to overflow and the other two though they have the water raised above the level of the top, haven’t yet actually started to flow down the side.So how do we understand that as a possible state in terms of the flow rates? Back to our diagram againWith A, B, C, J, L and F all filled, then A to B to C to J all have the same length of pipe and same head (height difference of the water in the tanks above inlet and outlet) so have the same flow rate. J to L has around 2.5 times the head of C to J, and the pipe is around 2.5 times the length, so the flow out of J is about the same as the flow into it, and the difference in head between the top of J and the outlet to I is small. From L to F, the difference in head is about the same as for C to J (which we already know is about the same as the flow from J to L) but the pipe is far longer, so L shouldn’t be able to empty as fast as it fills, and the water flows out of J faster than it flows out of L, so L should fill before J.From L to F, the difference in head is about the same as for C to J but the pipe is far longer, so L shouldn’t be able to empty as fast as it fills, so it should fill long before J fills,So if the flow rate is high enough for J to fill like this, L should fill before J and F doesn’t get a look in.So how could it happen? Well it could be the bubble from J to L, slows down the flow out of J so that J fills first before L.As for F filling, how did that happen? Let’s look at it again:The head from J to L is far higher than from L to F and the pipe is shorter, so the flow into L should be a lot more than the flow out of L to F. So it seems impossible for F to fill like this. It's not the bubble - the two tanks fill up reasonably steadily at the same rate. You can watch the video at quarter speed to check. Click the Settings icon in the lower-right corner, then click the Speed selector.Perhaps at this flow rate, its the double kink in the pipe from J to L causing more turbulence and so slowing down the input to L? What do you think? That could also help explain why J fills at this flow rate, if the pipe from J to L, has a slower flow rate than you’d expect from its length and head. What do you think? Do say in the comments.Even K can fill, though it is pretty hard to do. This is with a very strong flow into A, and several of the others have been overflowing for some time. They have turned off the inlet pipe at this point.Amusingly, in the real world, E ends up half full too after some time of running it at a high flow rate with the water overflowing from A.Here is the complete videoSo far the only confirmed alternatives to F are A (obviously) and L (pretty sure it wins at the moderate flow rate). That’s just a start. There are many other things to tryVarying flow rate. Can you get, J, say, to fill first or even K by turning the flow rate up and down at critical points during the filling process? This could cause bubbles to form, as well as adjust the heads of the various tanks. What happens if you scale the whole model up, or scale it down to a very small size? Scaling it down could make the flow rates out of some of the pipes very slow. It could also mean that bubbles like the one from J to L take a long time to disperse too. Scaling up could lead to more possibility of turbulent flow through the pipes.Try adding sugar for viscosityWhat if it is really hot, and you use a slow flow rate so that the water evaporates quickly? What if it is really cold so that the water freezes? That would seem to be a way to fill even B first, if the water freezes by the time it gets to B to C but remains unfrozen as far as the flow from A to B.NOTEIf you see anything in this to correct, however small or important it is, please either suggest an edit for my answer or say in a comment. Thanks!

What unique circumstances happened when you had a child (at the birth)?
My first child was born fairly uneventfully even though the hospital was a long drive away and after the doctor said we barely made it in time. The second had to be induced, they said my amniotic fluid was leaking. When they broke my water he climbed up. I mean up under my ribcage! My stomach was flat! I had to sit up and arch my back to breathe. As my labor progressed he continued to fight his way up. With every contaction I pushed him down and he climbed back up. The nurse and doctor acted like this was my fault. The nurse started screaming and yelling at me even though I was being calm and quiet. She said I thought you wanted this baby and he's going to die. She did this over and over. I turned to the nice nurse that had been with me before this one got there. I asked is he ok and she nodded yes. That's when I told the crazy one she had to leave. That made the doctor furious! He stomped away saying now you have sent the best nurse away. She may have been the head nurse but certainly not the best! When the doctor stomped off my son was crowning, my husband ran to the foot of the bed. The doctor came back just in time to catch him. We left the hospital hours after that birth. I have never seen my husband so mad. He wanted to have a word with that doctor but he couldn't be found. We decided to have our next child at another hospital. The story was the complete opposite but hilarious. I was up in the middle of the night alone with my hyperactive toddler in the living room. He was wreaking the place but my stomach was really hurting so I just watched mostly. I had finally got him down to sleep and then my water broke. This had never happened before, they had to break my water with the others. I woke my husband after I showered, changed and began cleaning up. He ended up standing in the doorway yelling we have to go! Meantime I am still sitting during contractions and cleaning in between. On the way I tell him I have to throw,up he pulls over to a closed store but I refuse to throw up in someones parking lot. We got to the emergency room and left our toddler and almost fourteen year old in the car just until my husband could leave me. While we were doing paperwork I excused myself to go to the restroom. While I was there a contraction hit that was so strong I literally couldn't move and it didn't pass. My husband had decided he should check on me. As he came in a security gaurd showed up to find out why he was going into the ladies room. Hubby asked if I was ok, all I could manage was a weak noooo while I was still frozen there. I finally managed to lean forward and unlock the door as I fell. At this point everyone but me is yelling for anything with wheels to get me to delivery. We got to delivery and it was like there was a party in there. There must have been fifteen nurses in there. They said this was the most exciting thing going on that night. My son was born about 10 minutes later. That's when we were able to get the other kids out of the car. I noticed that the white part of my baby's eyes were blood red. My doctor said that he had pushed so hard to get out that he had ruptured blood vessels in his eyes. Luckily this was a minor condition that cleared on it's own. I am still thankful for everyone who was so nice and took such good care of us that night.I learned somethings that night. First, in labor you are not thinking clearly and may not have as much time as you think you do. Second, never go to the bathroom unattended when you are in labor. I am just glad they are all healthy and I don't have to tell my son he was born in the bathroom.

How can I apply for an internship at IIT Bombay?
Full-scale guide to internship ahead. It will take 3 minutes.During my sophomore year( 2nd Year) of studies I did a lot of research on Internships, how to secure it and how to get a sure-shot success.I have compiled all the questions and how to work on themWhy should I do an internship?Ans: No, you don’t need to do one, internship are not burden that you should do. You can go and learn to play guitar, feel free to explore yourself during vacations.Internships are not only in Education, there are a heck lot of internships for Music, NGOs, Tutors, Dance(Yeah you heard it right). Now for all those in colleges( I mean study focused minded people), internships are a must ( yeah you heard me right, it is must- A recent update in rule suggested that you must have 3 internships).P.S. I have still done only one internship and still in search for 2 more (I completed my recent internship from France, CNRS).2. What internship should I do, I am confused?Ans: First of all you need to find your field of interest, it can be anything, yeah anything you like, it doesn’t depend on your course/career but on your interest.I have interest in Machine Learning , Computer Vision and Embedded Systems and I am in Electronics Branch. So, once you know about your field of interest you are perfect to go ahead to search for an internship. How to find my field of interest? Refer here : “How do I find out what my actual area of interest is?”3. Where to search an Internship and how to proceed?Ans: GOOGLE , it’s all.Nothing can help you more than google. Let me be clear, never go for sites like Internshala,Letsintern,InternXXX (I am not devoting this site, these sites have all startups and local companies and jobs that won’t help your enrichment rather will prepare you for 9–5 jobs believe me, I have experience) before searching them on your own.4. What are per-requisites? What should I have? A good SOP? A good CV?Ans: I will focus on basic things to keep in Mind.a. A good balance between CGPA and Skills will help you a lot. Don’t worry,if you don’t have a good CGPA, you must be talented with so many things then( Guitar, Singing, Dance—- yeah buddy you are talented.)b. Your focus in career, I mean what you want to pursue further.Just make a list of 4–5 topics you want to pursue further.c. Compile a list of projects you have done until the time you are going to fill the form.Put all the details about the project, how it works, under whom you have done it, what is its benefit.Projects can be anything: Have you created an applications based on your interest, a cool DIY project, an electronic game, a computer program—it entirely depends on your choice.I created aa TIC TAC TOE game and I quote it in my CV.d. List of your training and online MOOCs, if you did anything.(I am a regular user of Coursera, udemy, udacity, and edx.I keep on learning new things).Just mention these MOOCs and training wherever you get space. If you have certificates, feel free to include their links.e. The workshops, seminars you have attended.Do you know- Your curricular labs may add a lot to your form, but how? Suppose you are interested in Digital Signal Processing, and you attended Digital Signal Processing lab and gained 10/10, Go on quote it in the form.f. A Good Statement of purpose, describing what is your interest.g. A resume for yourself (max 2 pages).5. What is a good Statement of Purpose and How to make it? How to make a good resume?Ans: Follow here: How to write a successful SOP , How to Write a Statement of PurposeRest you can post your questions in comment section for some-specific field in SOP, CV.6. When should I start to search for an Internship for Institute and Well-known Companies?Ans : When Should I Apply for Summer Internships?, Most of the interships application begin from late December till Feb beginning. For institute specific internships, there are two waya) Fill the application form of the Internship Advertisement.b) Mail the professor. The application form is different for different Institute, regarding the mailing procedure - I will like to quote an answer:( Source : Tuhin Kundu answer)While writing a mail to an IIT professor, some blueprints and strategies should be kept in mind:Show your proven academic record. Your chances increase manifold if your CGPA is >9.0 Not to lose hope if you haven’t got it. Neither did I.Showcase the major projects you have undertaken in your undergrad till date.Share links everywhere in your resume and cover letter. Links to your LinkedIn, ResearchGate, Codechef, SPOJ, Github etc are pretty useful.Upload your project reports to a cloud storage such as Google Drive and share the links in your resume. The mail you are going to write is the most critical part and is usually known as a cover letter. Professors are only going to open and see your resume only if your cover letter is strong.Talk about the technologies you’ve learned, the projects you’ve done or are doing, the collaborations you have undertaken with professors at your own college in your cover letter. This section is the one that convinces the professor of your credibility.Avoid attaching your CV in your mail.Upload your CV in Google Drive and share the links. Emails from unknown sources usually end up in Junk folder of university emails.Make sure your email stays at top.Email professors late at night such that your email will be somewhere at the top when the professor logs in into his email account in the morning.Talk about your inclination and motivation to work under a certain area/domain. Convince the professor about why you want to work in that certain field.Repeatedly spamming a professor will be of no good.Filter out the professors who match your research interest. Mailing every single professor of the entire department may result into marking your email address as a spammer by the institute email filter. An example of mail to professor can be:( Source : Rahul Goradia Answer)Subject : Regarding Internship in Embedded SystemRespected Prof.____________Sir/Madam,I am ——- from ——— pursuing ___________ and willing to do internship under ______________ posted on website for duration _____.Sir/Ma’am, You are working in ________ domain and you have carried out ______ projects. You also take interns in embedded Systems.I am wish to start internship under our guidance. My curriculum includes ____ related subjects to embedded system. I have completed __________ projects. I will be available during whole internship and will be very sincere throughout internship. (You can add reference of your faculty as well.)It will be a great pleasure to work under you.Sincerely————.Now let us focus on my IIT Bombay Internship.Actually I received internship offer from IIT Bombay, IIT Gandhinagar and IIIT-Delhi in my 2nd Year.Focusing on IIT Bombay Internship. The IIT Bombay has two ways of internship1) Ekalavya Internship Program **EKALAVYA HOME Page (EKALAVYA HOME Page)2) By mailing to the professor of your field of interest.Let me describe both one by one and all things which you requireThe Ekalavy internship mentioned : Apply for the internship only if you are completing the 3rd year in April/May 2017. Students completing 2nd year, with exceptional academic performance and other achievements may also be considered. The procedure for ekalavya internship,a) Apply for the internship.b) If you get selected for the first round. Then wait my friend , there is one round more.c) The second round is an Online Test, I was guided a lot by my seniors for the test, they helped me a lot for the test preparation.d) If you clear the online test( which has medium difficulty), congo you got selected. In order to get an internship by emailing the professor, you can look on etiquettes on how to mail a prof., how to search for one, how to get in touch.I will add links to the mailing etiquettes soon.I will edit more details soon, rest you can comment on specific topics which you want to know about, I will be happy to help.I am a student majoring in Electronics and Communication branch. Also, let me add, your present college won’t stop you from getting an Intern anywhere ( A motivation for you).Edit 1:The Art of Emailing Professors to Secure a Foreign Internship ( Source : Internshala )Email is the most under-rated, under-used tool for grabbing an internship abroad. Read all about how to utilize it effectively! There are two definitive ways to bag an internship-1. Apply to various internship programs such as MITACS, DAAD-WISE, etc. Fill up your application form in the fanciest way possible and leave the rest up to fate.OR2. Write an email to a professor as a prospective intern/student.The latter might sound easier than it reads.Being resilient: Professors are busy people. Do not lose hope if your first, second or even third email goes unanswered. You have to be resilient while contacting professors.Timing matters: The time you send out your mail matters more than you think. Never email a professor during the weekends or Friday night; that might be a convenient time for you to email the professor but it is also the professor’s day off and your mail will get buried under the numerous other student’s applications. Professors tend to check their mail during their office hours thus increasing chances of a reply if sent out at such a time.Whom not to contact: It is advisable not to contact more than one professor from the same department as, if found out, it will dampen your credibility in the eyes of both professors.Be specific: I cannot stress on this point enough. In the subject heading of email, be sure to include the specific area you want to intern in. The professor shouldn’t have to scour through the email to search for what you want . If you want to do a research project under him/her, a subject line such as ‘2015 Prospective Research Intern for xyz subject area’ would be ideal.Funding: Most professors are reluctant to provide funding and understandably so; you are an unknown candidate with only words to prove your credibility. Typing out a politely worded, technical email will help your chances. Make sure there are no grammatical errors. If you are good at academia with prior work experience pertaining to their field, then getting funded becomes much easier. The email is all about you being a student that the professor absolutely HAS to offer a position. The real question you should ask yourself is: What can I do to make the professor respond to my mail instead of ten dozen others lying in his/her inbox? Here’s what-Start Early: Consider this. You contact professors in October for an internship that starts in January. Provided one responds, confirmation of a project takes time. There are official procedures to be considered, especially if it’s a funded project. Then there might be a matter of VISA which needs a few weeks at the least. In the end, you might find yourself racing against time to get the confirmation.TIP: If you want an internship offer by January of next year, you should start with your research six months ahead. Keep in mind the vacation timings for the countries you are targeting because most professors will have their automatic vacation responders on during these months. By the time they read their mail, yours will be more than twenty thousand leagues under all other emails.Target the right country: If you desire an international internship, you have to be smart while choosing universities. Some professors just don’t have the funds to admit you. So what’s the point in setting up base camp there?TIP: At the outset, select countries which are known to provide funding to students. For example, news and statistics show that of late, Canada is an emerging tycoon in the education sector and is allocating massive funds to projects. So it could very well be your next destination.Spam emails: Most emails from unknown addresses are flagged as spam and don’t even signNow the inbox. Professors also can’t be sure whether you are truly a student or a fake.TIP: One smart preventive measure would be to use your university email ID which identifies your first and last name and also has something like ‘@iitg’ or some such credible ending. This validates both points at once.Bulk emails: A lot of students have a huge list of professors and play chance with their emails. Writing a bulk email with a set format to all professors will only result in immediate deletion from inbox.TIP: Spell the professor’s name correctly. Get the honorifics right- Professors are usually ‘Dr.’. Salutations such as ‘Dear Dr.X’ or simply ‘Dr.X’ should be used. Write about what interests you in their body of work.Do your homework: Professing interest in someone’s work by saying ‘I would be really enthused to work under you’ has absolutely no bearing unless you give evidence to support it.TIP: Run through the body of work the professor has done, select one publication or project that overlaps with your interest and READ IT. Come up with some interesting insight or query about it. Don’t be vague, use technical words. Try to add your own ideas. Nothing proves your interest more than actually doing your homework.I recently bagged my Latest 2018 Summer Internship in “France- Paris ,Lille”.I will love to share it’s detail along with 30+ Internships that a “first year student too can fill and achieve”.Meanwhile, you can ping me on Facebook or ask your questions in the comment section for any help.(facebook : Animesh Srivastava ).Thanks for all the sources:https://blog.internshala.com/201...Tuhin KunduRahul GarodiaHappy to help you all ! How can I become a data scientist?
Here are some amazing and completely free resources online that you can use to teach yourself data science.Besides this page, I would highly recommend the Official Quora Data Science FAQ as your comprehensive guide to data science! It includes resources similar to this one, as well as advice on preparing for data science interviews. Additionally, follow the Quora Data Science topic if you haven't already to get updates on new questions and answers!Step 1. Fulfill your prerequisitesBefore you begin, you need Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Python. If your math background is up to multivariable calculus and linear algebra, you'll have enough background to understand almost all of the probability / statistics / machine learning for the job.Multivariate Calculus: What are the best resources for mastering multivariable calculus?Numerical Linear Algebra / Computational Linear Algebra / Matrix Algebra: Linear Algebra, Introduction to Linear Models and Matrix Algebra. Avoid linear algebra classes that are too theoretical, you need a linear algebra class that works with real matrices.Multivariate calculus is useful for some parts of machine learning and a lot of probability. Linear / Matrix algebra is absolutely necessary for a lot of concepts in machine learning. You also need some programming background to begin, preferably in Python. Most other things on this guide can be learned on the job (like random forests, pandas, A/B testing), but you can't get away without knowing how to program!Python is the most important language for a data scientist to learn. To learn to code, more about Python, and why Python is so important, check outHow do I learn to code? How do I learn Python? Why is Python a language of choice for data scientists? Is Python the most important programming language to learn for aspiring data scientists and data miners?R is the second most important language for a data scientist to learn. I’m saying this as someone with a statistics background and who went through undergrad mainly only using R. While R is powerful for dedicated statistical tasks, Python is more versatile as it will connect you more to production-level work.If you're currently in school, take statistics and computer science classes. Check out What classes should I take if I want to become a data scientist?Step 2. Plug Yourself Into the CommunityCheck out Meetup to find some that interest you! Attend an interesting talk, learn about data science live, and meet data scientists and other aspirational data scientists. What are some good online resources, like websites, blogs, or videos? (You can practice it using the sqlite package in Python)Step 4. Learn Probability and StatisticsBe sure to go through a course that involves heavy application in R or Python. Knowing probability and statistics will only really be helpful if you can implement what you learn.Python Application: Think Stats (free pdf) (Python focus)R Applications: An Introduction to Statistical Learning (free pdf)(MOOC) (R focus)Print out a copy of Probability CheatsheetStep 5. Complete Harvard's Data Science CourseAs of Fall 2015, the course is currently in its third year and strives to be as applicable and helpful as possible for students who are interested in becoming data scientists. An example of how is this happening is the introduction of Spark and SQL starting this year.I'd recommend doing the labs and lectures from 2015 and the homeworks from 2013 (2015 homeworks are not available to the public, and the 2014 homeworks are written under a different instructor than the original instructors). This course is developed in part by a fellow Quora user, Professor Joe Blitzstein. Here are all of the materials!Intro to the classWhat is it like to design a data science class? Do all of Kaggle's Getting Started and Playground CompetitionsI would NOT recommend doing any of the prize-money competitions. They usually have datasets that are too large, complicated, or annoying, and are not good for learning. The competitions are available at Competitions | KaggleStart by learning scikit-learn, playing around, reading through tutorials and forums on the competitions that you’re doing. Next, play around some more and check out the tutorials for Titanic: Machine Learning from Disaster for a binary classification task (with categorical variables, missing values, etc.)Afterwards, try some multi-class classification with Forest Cover Type Prediction. Now, try a regression task House Prices: Advanced Regression Techniques. Try out some natural language processing with Quora Question Pairs | Kaggle. Finally, try out any of the other knowledge-based competitions that interest you!Step 7. Learn Some Data Science ElectivesData science is an incredibly large and interdisciplinary field, and different jobs will require different skillsets. The data science FAQ also links to more specific versions of this question, like How do I become a data scientist without a PhD? or the counterpart, How do I become a data scientist as a PhD student?Step 10. Share your Wisdom Back with the Data Science CommunityIf you’ve made it this far, congratulations on becoming a data scientist! I’d encourage you to share your knowledge and what you’ve learned back with the data science community. Data Science as a nascent field depends on knowledge-sharing!Think like a Data ScientistIn addition to the concrete steps I listed above to develop the skill set of a data scientist, I include seven challenges below so you can learn to think like a data scientist and develop the right attitude to become one.(1) Satiate your curiosity through dataAs a data scientist you write your own questions and answers. Data scientists are naturally curious about the data that they're looking at, and are creative with ways to approach and solve whatever problem needs to be solved.Much of data science is not the analysis itself, but discovering an interesting question and figuring out how to answer it.Here are two great examples:Hilary: the most poisoned baby name in US historyA Look at Fire Response DataChallenge: Think of a problem or topic you're interested in and answer it with data!(2) Read news with a skeptical eyeMuch of the contribution of a data scientist (and why it's really hard to replace a data scientist with a machine), is that a data scientist will tell you what's important and what's spurious. This persistent skepticism is healthy in all sciences, and is especially necessarily in a fast-paced environment where it's too easy to let a spurious result be misinterpreted. You can adopt this mindset yourself by reading news with a critical eye. Many news articles have inherently flawed main premises. Try these two articles. Sample answers are available in the comments.Easier: You Love Your iPhone. Literally.Harder: Who predicted Russia’s military intervention?Challenge: Do this every day when you encounter a news article. Comment on the article and point out the flaws.(3) See data as a tool to improve consumer productsVisit a consumer internet product (probably that you know doesn't do extensive A/B testing already), and then think about their main funnel. Do they have a checkout funnel? Do they have a signup funnel? Do they have a virility mechanism? Do they have an engagement funnel?Go through the funnel multiple times and hypothesize about different ways it could do better to increase a core metric (conversion rate, shares, signups, etc.). Design an experiment to verify if your suggested change can actually change the core metric.Challenge: Share it with the feedback email for the consumer internet site!(4) Think like a BayesianTo think like a Bayesian, avoid the Base rate fallacy. This means to form new beliefs you must incorporate both newly observed information AND prior information formed through intuition and experience.Checking your dashboard, user engagement numbers are signNowly down today. Which of the following is most likely?1. Users are suddenly less engaged2. Feature of site broke3. Logging feature brokeEven though explanation #1 completely explains the drop, #2 and #3 should be more likely because they have a much higher prior probability. You're in senior management at Tesla, and five of Tesla's Model S's have caught fire in the last five months. Which is more likely?1. Manufacturing quality has decreased and Teslas should now be deemed unsafe.2. Safety has not changed and fires in Tesla Model S's are still much rarer than their counterparts in gasoline cars. While #1 is an easy explanation (and great for media coverage), your prior should be strong on #2 because of your regular quality testing. However, you should still be seeking information that can update your beliefs on #1 versus #2 (and still find ways to improve safety). Question for thought: what information should you seek?Challenge: Identify the last time you committed the Base Rate Fallacy. Avoid committing the fallacy from now on.(5) Know the limitations of your tools“Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.” - Miles KingtonKnowledge is knowing how to perform a ordinary linear regression, wisdom is realizing how rare it applies cleanly in practice.Knowledge is knowing five different variations of K-means clustering, wisdom is realizing how rarely actual data can be cleanly clustered, and how poorly K-means clustering can work with too many features.Knowledge is knowing a vast range of sophisticated techniques, but wisdom is being able to choose the one that will provide the most amount of impact for the company in a reasonable amount of time. You may develop a vast range of tools while you go through your Coursera or EdX courses, but your toolbox is not useful until you know which tools to use.Challenge: Apply several tools to a real dataset and discover the tradeoffs and limitations of each tools. Which tools worked best, and can you figure out why?(6) Teach a complicated conceptHow does Richard Feynman distinguish which concepts he understands and which concepts he doesn't?Feynman was a truly great teacher. He prided himself on being able to devise ways to explain even the most profound ideas to beginning students. Once, I said to him, "Dick, explain to me, so that I can understand it, why spin one-half particles obey Fermi-Dirac statistics." Sizing up his audience perfectly, Feynman said, "I'll prepare a freshman lecture on it." But he came back a few days later to say, "I couldn't do it. I couldn't reduce it to the freshman level. That means we don't really understand it." - David L. Goodstein, Feynman's Lost Lecture: The Motion of Planets Around the SunWhat distinguished Richard Feynman was his ability to distill complex concepts into comprehendible ideas. Similarly, what distinguishes top data scientists is their ability to cogently share their ideas and explain their analyses.Check out https://www.quora.com/Edwin-Chen... for examples of cogently-explained technical concepts.Challenge: Teach a technical concept to a friend or on a public forum, like Quora or YouTube.(7) Convince others about what's importantPerhaps even more important than a data scientist's ability to explain their analysis is their ability to communicate the value and potential impact of the actionable insights.Certain tasks of data science will be commoditized as data science tools become better and better. New tools will make obsolete certain tasks such as writing dashboards, unnecessary data wrangling, and even specific kinds of predictive modeling. However, the need for a data scientist to extract out and communicate what's important will never be made obsolete. With increasing amounts of data and potential insights, companies will always need data scientists (or people in data science-like roles), to triage all that can be done and prioritize tasks based on impact. The data scientist's role in the company is the serve as the ambassador between the data and the company. The success of a data scientist is measured by how well he/she can tell a story and make an impact. Every other skill is amplified by this ability.Challenge: Tell a story with statistics. Communicate the important findings in a dataset. Make a convincing presentation that your audience cares about.Good luck and best wishes on your journey to becoming a data scientist! What's something that sucks about being a software engineer?
Business Unit: We need you to build this thing by the end of Q1, next month.Engineer: I see… what is it that we’re building?BU: It needs to read documents into the systemE: What documents? Like hard copy documents?BU: We don’t know, but it needs to be done by next month.E: I’m going to need more information. Who is asking for this? Is there someone I can sit down with to figure out the details? What problem am I trying to solve?BU: I’ve already solved the problem, I just need you to build it. You’re the programmer, just get it done. E: We’ll see what we can do, but I really do need more details. BU: I just told you. Read the documents into the system, simple. Get it done.E: (Buys a scanner and sets it to read documents to PDF and send to some random person)BU: WTF is this?E: It reads documents and emails it so that it’s available in our email systemBU: That’s not what I asked for!E: …(finally agrees to a sit down for a few days in a requirements gathering sessions)(turns out they were really asking for us to build a search engine with Google-like functionality)E: We can’t just build google in a month… but we can probably enable PDF search to help this.BU: Just get it done(it’s now 1 week from due date)(PDF search was enabled and documents are now scannable and searchable)BU: Why doesn’t this work on my cellphone?E: What?BU: I need to be able to scan documents on my cellphoneE: In 12 hours of requirements gatherings, you didn’t ask for thatBU: I shouldn’t have to, that’s why I pay you. You should know these things.E: Ok but we’re going to have to build an entire phone app now. iPhone? Android? BU: Ok. We still need it by next week.E: We’re probably not going to be able to pull that off in a week…BU: Then we’ll find someone who canE: Ugh… lemme see what I can do(just happens to know Xamarin and spends the weekend building a super simple scanning app for both iPhone and Android)BU: Wait… do I have to take a picture of every page to scan it in with my phone?E: Erm… what did you think you would have to do?BU: I don’t know, but this is unacceptable and this was due today!E: *puzzled*BU: I need to hire better programmers.E: You need to hire a product manager.BU: I am an executive officer, I AM the product manager.E: /quit
