My mother's experience is the norm, I would say. If you want good, quality, timely health care you have to pay to get it privately.I'd say I'm very proud of our education system. If you're serious about learning, there are almost no dead ends for you; hell, the government even pays part of your tuition for you! Now there are some fields that you may have to go abroad in order to pursue, but for the most part you can become a qualified engineer, architect, accountant or tradesman right here on our soil.It's a relatively small country so everyone pretty much knows everyone else. It's easy to get a hook up or "link" to get paperwork processed faster than normal or get chosen for a job. This aspect of our culture, however, has a sharp downside in that you can end up getting some real morons in charge of very crucial processes and holding very powerful state positions.In terms of people we're generally easy going and chasers of a good time and a "lime". Generally Trinbagonians are comedians at heart. It is very rare for me to take a walk in the capital and not overhear a conversation or witness a scenario that makes for some fine comic relief later on. We're also very warm, welcoming and at the very least, tolerant (save for homosexuality and satanic worship). With so many mixes of races and religions it's hard to discriminate (although some people try very hard).In summation if I had to rank the quality of life in Trinidad and Tobago I'd give it an 8 out of 10: Plenty  of room for improvement, but it's a damn sweet place to live.
