Why would a bank mail me an SSA-89 form to fill out for a new checking account after it's already been opened with money that's already been deposited (and even though I'm already an existing customer)?
Why would a bank mail me an SSA-89 form to fill out for a new checking account after it's already been opened with money that's already been deposited (and even though I'm already an existing customer)?Banks have rules regarding “knowing their customers” that they must comply with or face penalties. In all likelihood the SSN on your account was flagged for some reason or another. Maybe it was mistyped, or maybe you’re using a fake SSN. Either way, the bank is going to want to see documentation of your SSN or they’ll have to restrict or close the account. You should get ahold of the bank to avoid any hassles with the funds that are in there or any transactions your had set up.

If I am a house wife, I put the amount of 500,000 above the fixed deposit in a bank, and I fill out the 15G form, then am I a taxable or non-taxable person?
If you Deposit 5 Lakh than Bank may and IT (IN CASE OF SUSPICION CAN ASK FOR SOURCE of Funds) Assuming you do not have any other income the interest due to this deposit is unlikely to exceed Rs 40000 .Nevertheless you have to calculate other sources to evaluate Total Income .If your income including interest on the fixed deposit is exceeding basic exemption limit ( Rs 2,50,000 for FY 17–18) then you will have to pay tax.Since you have filled Form 15G the Bank will not deduct TDS from the Interest income. So now it is you who will have to calculate the tax amount and then pay it. Otherwise, if you had not filled the form, Bank would have deducted TDS on your Interest income.

What would happen if I walked into a bank to deposit $1 million dollars in cash? Do most banks have machines that do the counting?
A couple things would ensue if you just walked into a bank ready to deposit $1 million into your account.First, the teller would probably need a couple seconds to realize you legit just brought a million bucks to a bank. Second, after he/she got themselves together and stopped dreaming about all the things they could do with all that money, their suspicion level would go way, way up. Normal businessmen or rich people don't usually just deposit a whole million into their account. Most people with that much money on hand have separate banks, so you already look like a guilty amateur. However, if you provide a reasonable explanation on why you have so much money and why you want to deposit it in the bank, 9/10 times (granted you plan on doing this 10 times) the banker will just laugh while he/she deposits the money, and when you leave the bank will file a suspicion report to the U.S. Treasury. From there, the treasurey will ever so silently start tracking your every dollar and see where it goes to. Now that your money is under 24/7 surveillance, any illegal transaction will result in a manhunt to have you tracked down and arrested, and then the FBI/Treasury would seize the money from the bank. BUT, if it's all LEGAL money that you saved since you were a wee-boy up to where you are now, and simply just feel like depositing the entire million into your account, that's 100% fine and nothing will occur other than a raised eyebrow. However, there is the slight chance that the banker/teller decides not to allow the deposit. Two things will happen here:1. They will call the police. Then the police will literally arrest the money, not you but actually the money, until you can prove the money is yours. While this is not common protocol in any means, it can happen.2. The teller or banker will simply "delay" the deposit until a "higher-up" can verify it being legit. From a former high-end bank teller:"I have personally been delayed awaiting manager approval for (non-cash) transactions in the 200K range -- on such occasions, the teller used a particular subtle phrasing which seemed to connote 'This is not an illegal or questionable transaction, it's okay for you (manager) to approve.'"You see, the bank only really gets suspicious if you aren't paying in cash. If you pay such a high amount through check and it bounces, the bank very well could go bankrupt. So if you want to deposit a million bucks, to avoid most suspicion, deposit in CASH, make sure you have documentation proving its your cash and you obtained it legally (i.e. taxes are documented as paid, etc.) and you aren't wearing torn pants and a dirty shirt when you go to make the deposit. In conclusion, the most likely thing to happen is just some raised eyebrows and a report the Treasury ... If you look the part and pay with cash. But really, everything stated above could happen.

How would you earn 10k per month illegally (no drugs/killing)?
Alrighty! I want $10,000 dollars a month… can’t do it legally… can’t kill… can’t be drugs… hmmm. Ok, I think I got it.Step one: get to a large city. This works better in larger cities.Step two: get duct-tape. Needs to be duct-tape, not just any tape.Step three: Locate and plot a map of all vending machines in the area (avoid police stations and schools). There are typically a couple in hospitals, large office buildings, recreational facilities, etc.Step four: Use the duct-tape to clog up the coin dispensary in the vending machine.Step five: Make sure you have 100- 150 vending machines plotted out… preferably get more.Step six: Go around once per week to every vending machine. Do this on a rolling basis, meaning do 1–30 on day one, then 31–60 on day two, etc.Step seven: sleep. You always need this!Calculations: Assuming 100 vending machines… average of three dollars change per day (there will be losses if someone figures it out… most people won’t even bother if there change doesn’t come out… most people kick the vending machine and walk away in frustration), you will get 100 * 3 * 30 = $9000 per month. Not quite 10K, but this was the low end… get more vending machines and you’ll be golden! Of course, until you get caught… which is the problem of doing things illegally.Personally, I recommend erring on the side of the law. It’s typically a lot less work and you avoid jail time by making your money that way! In no way do I advocate stealing! Also, to supplement your income… and this is a really twisted move… stay in a building, that has one of those charity coin/ money things that you can roll down coins into, after it shuts down for the night. Use a small scooper attached to bicycle spokes to grab bills and coins. Then hide in bath room or somewhere else safe for the night… and walk out with the crowd the next morning:)… also, I advocate for not doing this!

How do you fill out the bank interest income in ITR?
I get the IT statements (Form 16A) from the bank(s) holding my fixed deposits in the end of June. These statements give the interest income accrued or paid, and the tax deducted at source (usually only at 10%). I counter-check these figures against the Scheduke 26AS on the income-tax site e-Filing Home Page, Income Tax Department, Government of India (takes you to TRACES, the site that gives you details of tax remitted to your income-tax account by the banks, other payers, yourself). I then pay the additional balance tax due on interests at my slab (20%, 30% as the case may be), if necessary… this all goes into my ITR statement online. One other hint is that I do an advance tax calculation right from 2nd quarter on a “guesstimate” of interest receivable on FDs, at the applicable rate of interest on the original principal invested, on each FD (using a spreadsheet), and keep paying advance tax proportionately through the year, so that I do not have too much of a problem in June/July after getting the final figures from the banks. I also add interest at 1% per month on the balance of tax due from 1 April to the date of filing the return. All this entitles me to a bronze certificate of appreciation from the IT authorities :)

What's the best contemporary designed sign-up form, in terms of UX, on the internet?
Our in-house UX designer holds the Airbnb sign-up form up as an example of excellent UX design. These are his main reasons, which are all aspects that are easily transferrable (and that we always use on our forms!):Social media access - giving people the option to sign up with Google or Facebook allows them to choose an option that suits them (people love to feel in control - it’s the autonomy bias). They are also aware that signing up through social media may be a much speedier process which is always an attraction and, even better for you, it often allows you access to certain parts of their profile and details so can be an excellent source of invaluable data.Progressive disclosure - Instead of displaying the whole form on the first page, Airbnb uses progressive disclosure, only opening up the full form once the user clicks on “Sign up with Email” which keeps things clean, simple and doesn’t intimidate the user as they are being slowly introduced into the sign-up process.Column layout - There is just one column with each field listed one underneath the other. Again, this keeps it really clean and simple with ample space to fill out the fields.Icons used inside the fields - The icons bring a nice design element to it and also just add that extra ease of comprehension - you see the mail icon and you know that’s where your email address goes. The easier to understand quickly, the more likely it is that people will convert (this is because of Cognitive Ease).Password strength validation - This is always a reassuring tool to provide your customers. Security online (or lack thereof) can be a big factor in putting people off following through with a sign-up or purchase and so lending them this helping hand to show them how strong their password is will give a sense of safety and satisfaction.Overall field validation - When a field has been successfully completed, it is highlighted with a green outline to validate this clearly. It’s a nice way of giving the customer a sense of completion and closure for each step and letting them see their progress - this type of positive reinforcement can be useful in encouraging people to see through the sign-up process until the end.Clear indication of errors - Equally, it’s important to clearly notify customers when there is an issue with one of their completed fields. There’s nothing more frustrating than spending time filling out a form only for it to refuse to submit but with no clear identification of where the error is. Make it quick, obvious and easy for them to see and rectify any errors to ensure frustration doesn’t lead to a swift exit.At Convertize, we’ve compiled our neuromarketing and optimisation expertise into a list of 250 tactics - you can check them out here!

What is a true personal story that people have a hard time believing?
The story of how my wife and I met. Most people think we embellish, or otherwise alter our story, but it is 100% true. I'll be as brief as possible without leaving out any of the major details. In my small hometown (Athens, Alabama - pop: ~20,000), Wal Mart was the place to go for most of your needs, especially if you needed more than groceries. I was in Wal Mart on evening browsing the electronics/music section when I catch a glimpse of this absolutely STUNNING girl walk by. I was 18 at the time, out of high school, but still painfully shy, as I'd always been. However, I was at once smitten and REALLY wanted to talk to her, so I did what any painfully shy 18 year old guy would do, and followed her, at an overly-cautious distance until I could hopefully maneuver around to "accidentally" meet her face to face, as approaching from the rear, as much as I was enjoying the view, was ridiculously intimidating.I tried. Hard. I failed miserably. She apparently didn't find what she was looking for and I obviously discarded any need to further peruse the CD selection as soon as I'd begun stalki... I mean pursuing, so out the front doors of the store she went, and in a "if she knows what I'm doing she'll call the cops" move, I followed still, maintaining a careful distance. Into our cars, out of the parking lot, and down the road...At this point, I begin to question my own sanity... I push myself to make either a firm commitment that, if she does stop somewhere else, I WILL actually speak to her, or to go ahead and drop this madness, and just turn around. If she does stop and I do follow, what if she recognizes me from Wal Mart? Won't that be instant "Ewww, go away!"? But I don't think she actually saw me, at least not in a way that would register that I followed her. She turned into a convenience store. I followed. I'm SOOOOOO going to talk to her. I let her go in a few moments ahead, then followed. I enter the door and sure enough, she's got a drink in her hand and is walking back to the front of the store. This is it. Face to face. I look up and our eyes briefly lock...Her eyes... Oh my God... I'm absolutely stunned. They are the most intriguing green-ish, gray-ish, and... almost... am I seeing this right... yellow-ish, ridiculously unique and captivatingly beautiful. I know the look on my face had to look exactly like Raphie Parker's face in A Christmas Story, when he's locked eyes on the Red Ryder in the Higbee's storefront display. I smile sheepishly, nod, then walk to the back of the store, feigned interest in whatever drink I end up buying, and watch as she drives away into the night. Failure. Utter failure.A few weeks later, I'm at work and get a call from a long time friend whom I hadn't heard from in quite some time. He owns a small sporting goods store in town, and says he has this girl working for him who is "trapped" (his words) in a relationship with an "older guy" (again, his words) who doesn't treat her too well. He knows I've dated some good looking girls (I wasn't as shy when I was properly introduced, it's the whole "cold approach" that terrified me) and wanted to know if I'd come try to steal her away and save her. Not exactly how I like to start a relationship, but it sounds like fun. What 18 year old guy doesn't like a good challenge, right? The next day I take my lunch break and head to his store. I walk in and ask if Steve is in, the clerk goes in the back to get him and I walk over to the baseball caps. I hear Steve's voice as he approaches, talking to a female, but I can't really make out what they're saying. He walks through the swinging door, I walk over to shake his hand, but when the door swings back open the other way, I stop dead in my tracks. Was that...? Surely not... I look nervously back and forth from Steve to the door. Just a moment later, she walks through. Those eyes... it's her. I give myself a pep talk, knowing I'll be bolstered by having a mutual party to break the ice. "Game on. You got this."She's every bit as beautiful as I remember. Our eyes meet again and this time I smile as Steve introduces us, she holds out her hand. A handshake? It's different, I guess... I can deal with that. I grasp her hand, lightly but tight enough to control the duration of our touch. I hold my gaze into those eyes as I hold her hand. "It's... (very brief dramatic pause)... nice to meet you." I say, infinitely more confidently than it reads here. Her name is Casey.Then... as my eyes quickly take note of the rest of her face, and I release her hand, my rememberer begins skittering back many many years... I've seen her before. WAAAYYYYY before I stal... before I followed her from Wal Mart to the gas station... In my head, gears whirr and bells clang as I search through my internal index of faces from my past... Then the mechanics grind to a halt. The school bus. First grade. FIRST GRADE??? Out of my mouth, before I've given any real thought as to how the ensuing conversation might go, gush the words "Did you go to East?" (East Limestone, one of the "county schools" in Limestone County) Only I knew she didn't go to East, I did. I went from Kindergarten through graduation, and I most certainly would have known if Casey had gone to East. I scramble back through my memories for more details, as her reply comes..."No. I went to Clements." (Another of the county schools, Clements was on the exact opposite side of the county. Yes, there is a "West", but it's farther northwest than Clements.)In an instant, clarity. There was a little girl that rode the same bus I did, but only for a year. She was in kindergarten when I was in first grade, and she cried. Every. Single. Day. She would cry to stay with her mother. I remember now... THAT little girl's name was Casey too... I had often wondered what happened to Casey. This was long before homeschooling was an option for kids who just didn't want to go to public schools, so I had assumed they had moved, but in my mind, of course, they went much farther than the other side of the county. I remembered on many occasions offering her something, anything she wanted, from my lunchbox, to try to make her feel better. I hated to see her cry."You didn't go to East, not even in..." I began, before she finished my thought, "... in kindergarten, I did. How did you...""And you rode Mrs. Walker's bus... right. You cried, every day... I remember. That was you, wasn't it?Stunned, she stared deep into my soul. "Yes. Did you... were you the boy that..." "Yeah.... I hated to see you so upset."And now, a full 13 years into our marriage, I still hate it when those beautiful green-ish, grey-ish, yellow-ish eyes shed a tear. And yes, I later told her about the Wal Mart incident, which she found incredibly endearing, thank God!EDIT: By request, here's a photo of us. When we have the kids with us, it seems she or I always end up behind the camera... Just look at those eyes...

What is the most selfish act you have ever witnessed?
When I was twelve, my dad died. I have five siblings and we ranged at the time from seven years old to eighteen. The eldest was leaving for college that week, but came back and spent the year at home at my mom's request. Before Dad had been dead a whole month, my mom started sort-of dating a sort-of homeless guy (he had been homeless and then was living in an RV on someone's property as their caretaker) my family had helped before (we volunteered for years prior to this at the local homeless shelter).A month. Our father had died of unexpected of complications from heart attacks just a month prior. We four youngest didn't know what was going on at first and she didn't let our older two siblings know. All we knew was that almost every night mom would have us get in the van, and she'd be in her pajamas and robe, and we'd drive down to his place and she'd send us to go play in the yard while she "said goodnight" and "ministered" to him.Eventually she'd come out with a shit-eating smirk, load us up in the van and drive back home.Less than two months after that she moved him into the house and started claiming they were married to everyone. (They weren't.)Why this was so incredibly selfish was because we weren't allowed to grieve anymore after that. We all had to be happy because mom had a new boyfriend-then-husband, and we all felt like we couldn't even talk about Dad anymore. Mom still talked about him but only to force our good behavior, ie: "You are all such terrible children! Your father wanted you to be raised this way and I've sacrificed so much for you...!" He wasn't even a good stepdad. He could have been worse, sure, but he'd fight with mom then storm out of the house and she'd blame it on us.Less than six months after my dad died he and my mom went on a drive and left me to change a curtain rod. I was still twelve and very small for my age, and I couldn't signNow the curtain rod. I tried, hard, but I kept falling off the back of the couch. They got back and saw that I hadn't done it, so the step-dad kept saying to me "Hah, I knew you were useless." while laughing and repeating it over and over like it was hilarious. I lost my temper and said "You're just a fat old man!" (he was 13 years older than my mom so he seemed quite elderly to me.) He, in front of my mother who had been laughing at his denigration of my handyman attempts, grabbed me, shook me hard, and screamed in my face "You stupid little b***ch!" and stormed out of the house.Mom then spanked me for trying to ruin her marriage.I just wanted my dad back, but I couldn't even say that because what if it made the step-dad feel bad?
