[Music] growing up in an immigrant family i never thought geology was a career path i discovered geology as an undergraduate student at university and it really just changed my life my area of research is landscape evolution and my specialty is active tectonics san jose is adjacent to a handful of some of the most active faults in california and as a result i and my students can go and look at these faults so that we can measure the rate of which a fault moves over its most recent time period here out in pillar point bluff we really look at the details and the subtleties of the landscape and how that landscape has evolved through time due to faulting and earthquakes when you do the detailed stratographic column you clean it off i only know it was true because we were here last time we teach students how to look at smap data and spatial data but take that data and organize it into google maps or apple maps she really has an impactful field program with her students and her graduate stud
