Welcome Trade Allies to another episode of the ‘90-Second Efficiency Scoop,’ bringing you valuable insights into the NIPSCO Energy Efficiency Program. I'm Carl, Senior Field Engineer at TRC with the answer to the question, “When should I submit an application?” The quick answer is ‘as soon as possible,’ however, let’s get a bit more specific; our two main categories within the NIPSCO Program include: Prescriptive (including SBDI), and Custom (including New Construction and Retro Commissioning (RCx)). They each have some specific guidelines, so let’s look at this chart to see how they stack up. Prescriptive project applications can be submitted after the project is installed IF the incentive/rebate is less than $10,000. Over $10,000, the application needs to be submitted prior to purchase or installation of the project. Carl’s recommendation, ‘if it looks like it’s close to $10,000, submit it before you start!’ Custom projects need pre-approval, so ALL Custom app
