last month we did a video about third places or the areas and institutions and neighborhoods where people across class lines can safely socialize and build community we talked about how they seem to be disappearing everywhere to the detriment of everyone in these neighborhoods but especially young people we got a lot of positive responses to that video thank you for that now one of the most common responses we got to the video about third places is to support public libraries I can't tell you how many comments I saw basically saying that it seems like a lot of people are recognizing that public libraries are one of the few third places left one comment from Willow creeper said please visit your Public Library as Librarians we are actively fighting to maintain third spaces with free Wi-Fi bathrooms places to sit books and information most now have non-quiet areas to spend time playing games or talk we are overworked and underpaid but we're here because we believe our communities deserve
