[Music] hi I'm Kenny Chandler alpha I'm Kathy henchmen we're both professors in the reading and language arts department at Syracuse University and we've been co-editors of the journal of adolescent adult literacy since 2015 as we near the end of our term as editors it's a good time for us to think about what we've gained from the experience how have you back serving as editors of jalle has provided me with a newly comprehensive sense of all the ideas that are percolating in adolescent and adult literacy across the globe as we've discussed working with our awesome Poehler reviewers has helped us learn to make suggestions for improving other's writings with respect for their projects and our audience's desire to learn new ideas for teaching you and I have also talked frequently about how much this job has improved our own research and writing for instance we have a much better sense of the importance of clear purposes and topic sentences and making ideas understandable to readers I use
