Why wont my husband divorce me even though he left me and our son, lives with his girlfriend of 3 years and they have a new baby?
My ex husband refused to participate in the divorce, even though we had agreed to do it.I’m uncertain how all states work, but in California I was able to get the divorce without him. I was the Petitioner and he was the Respondent. He had 30 days to respond, which he didn’t. I continued with the filings and forms, following all legal steps. By law, he received copies of every form.Eventually after several months of being non responsive, he was served a Notice of Default. He didn’t respond to that either. At that point, he had defaulted out of the entire process. The court order and judgements were based on all the information I provided. Fortunately for my ex, I didn’t screw him over. However, as I was the only one in court, the judge saw through all of the bs and awarded me more than I asked for. Not that I’ve seen a dime, but it was very rewarding taking control of my life and knowing that my ex could not hold me back. His anger, avoidance, and temper tantrums had zero bearing on the legal process.I just kept moving forward, one step at a time. I got stronger and stronger as I went along. Also, being in Los Angeles County, I happen to stumble upon FREE legal services provided by the state. My divorce only cost me filing fees, parking and time. Truly a gift. And, the judge complimented me on how accurate and complete my documentation was.My first step was googling “how to file for divorce”. I found a YouTube channel that literally showed how to fill out the Petition for Divorce. All of the forms can be found online and are downloadable. That was the starting point for me. From there, resources began to show up.Since your ex is with another woman, I would move fast, hire an attorney if you can financially and get sound advice. Don’t settle for any crap. You’re on your own at this point and it’s necessary that you stand firm in your own personal value. The only person you need to take care of is YOU. You can do that morally and ethically. Take emotion out of it, and make sure that you and your son are taken care of. He has the option to do the same.Lead the way! You can and will do this. Time to get started.

Have you ever taken business trips with a colleague who was totally unprincipled while "on the road?"
I was surprised when my straight arrow boss, non-drinker and non-smoker, took out a sample-sized pack of cigarettes at the Denver Airport and started chain-smoking as he sipped his Manhattan at the airport bar. We were headed for a week-long exposition in Toronto and I was chosen to travel with the EVP. A few people had smiled when I told them of the upcoming junket. We stayed in separate rooms, thankfully, but the rest of the time we traveled together. Once we arrived in Toronto, I never again saw him sober after the noon liquid lunch, so we conducted all of our high-level meetings in the morning. He showed up well-scrubbed but red-faced.A drunk is very poor at planning normal tourist events so I was the one buying baseball tickets or getting us to the CN Tower. He was the one slinking off for a smoke or a drink. He was the one who tried to sue a restaurant when his drunken gesticulations caused a server to drop a tray of drinks into his lap as we waited for our meals. Then it ended. We boarded our flight home to the Mountain West and he put away the cigarettes, rejoined me in the non-smoking section of the plane, and drank Diet Coke for the journey back. His wonderful Mormon wife met us at the airport and he handed her the gift I had helped him pick out in Toronto. And we never talked about it again.

My son wants to rent the basement, I feel bad charging him because it’s my son and I don’t need to take his money. What are some options I can do to make him have responsibility without having to pay me?
This is what my son and I did when he wanted to live independently, but couldn't really afford to live out on his own.I live on the west coast of Canada. Rents are very high, so it is difficult for young people to work at the minimum wage jobs available to them, and live independently. We have a strong Provincial Landlord Tenant Act which governs both landlords and tenants. Everything is very clear, and life is easier for all concerned if landlords use the government forms, and follow the act.My son called me one day, after living away from home for maybe 3 years, saying he wasn't going to be able to pay the rent due in 3 or 4 days. Could he please move back home into his room?I rented a truck, about 3 hours was all I could get at that late date, and we moved him home.It turned out he was having trouble with having a consistent income with the minimum wage jobs he was qualified for at the time.He moved into his childhood room, which is tiny, and my living room became a storage room for the rest of his things. (I have a tenant paying market rent in a one bedroom suite in my basement. It pays the mortgage.)Not long after, we moved him into the master bedroom, which has an ensuite (master bath), and all his things moved from the living room into his room, which is very large.Next, he filled out a provincial government landlord tenant form, and began paying $200 each month.I put a full size fridge and microwave in his room. He did his own grocery shopping, and cooking. He did his own cleaning and laundry. We didn't share a bathroom, so that removed a source of friction.I certainly did not worry about the cleanliness of his room. That's what doors are for, although it turned out he cleaned more regularly than I did.I did not enter his room without permission or proper notice, as per the Landlord Tenant Act.I had already taken him grocery shopping a few times to show him how to shop and cook on a budget.I hired someone else to cut the lawn. My son had no time, and I didn't want to be arguing with him about chores. He was no longer a child. I had my chance raising him. That period of both our lives was over. He was trying his best to be an independent adult in a difficult financial climate, so I treated him like an adult. I also treated him like any other tenant I've had.My thinking was if I wouldn't say it to my tenant downstairs, I didn't say it to him.All of this meant that our only interaction was social, so we became good friends. It worked a treat. We get along great now.Your son is trying to be an adult, taking small steps. Let him. Make him a tenant, and treat him like any other tenant.Charge him $200 a month, which is low enough to keep him there, but high enough that he will have to budget to make sure he can pay it.Treat him the same way you would treat a tenant who is a stranger. Treat him like the adult he wants to be.Let him do his own laundry. Make up a schedule, if necessary. He gets the weekends, you get weekdays; he gets Wednesday and Sunday, you get the rest of the time.Hire someone to mow the grass. Do not expect “family chores" from him, just as you wouldn't from a tenant who is a stranger.Put a full size fridge, a microwave, and a hot plate in his suite if there isn't a kitchen. Then take him grocery shopping and show him how to shop, and cook, on a tight budget.Do not expect him at the family dinner table every night. You will find yourself chasing him to find out when he'll be home for dinner every day. Let him set his own schedule, cook for himself, eat what he wants. If he needs cooking lessons, teach him, or sign him up for a class. After he's settled, invite him for Sunday dinner, but not every week.If he needs to be driven when he drinks too much, pick him up. Ask no questions.Try very hard not to judge as he navigates the difficult time of young adulthood. Help him get through without any life altering issues — everyone alive, no one pregnant, no record. All of this will help him learn how to organize his life successfully in the adult world while he is in a safe place. It will also provide a foundation for your future relationship, and your respect for each other. He wants to be an independent adult. Let him, and help him.It has nothing to do with whether or not you need the rent money. It has everything to do with helping your son become an adult. My son stayed for 2.5 years. It was great having him here. When he left, he got in his car and drove, alone, across the country to live in Toronto, which he felt well prepared to do. I then offered his room to a young, aspiring musician who wanted to live semi-independently, with someone around. She pays market rent, I listen to beautiful music every day, and we both have someone to talk to.If you read my thread, you'll see some of my experiences with my son as he went through young adulthood, and how we navigated to what I now consider successful adulthood.

How do therapists feel about their patient skipping sessions? Does it annoy them?
There are a lot of responses a therapist can have when a client cancels or doesn’t show up for an appointment. In private practice, if the client doesn’t show, we don’t get paid. It can be very frustrating when we don’t get at least 24 hour notice so that we can fill the spot. No show no pay. No one wants clients like that. That means an uncomfortable conversation has to arise even though it was discussed during the first session and during the hippa-forms- signing process. Some therapist are comfortable with it but I’m still a little uncomfortable with it. I recognize how sensitive clients can be and how easily they can be triggered by money talks. Some clients would like to believe that we are willing to behave like a friend and pretend money is not exchanged. And that not showing up is just one friend understanding another friends’ priorities. I just keep practicing how to have the talk. Sometimes it goes OK. Got to do what you gotta do.We get on the phone and send text messages to clients on our waiting list and wait. We wait to see if we can fill that slot of time. Because at the end of the day, we have bills to pay.We might over analyze the situation wondering whether the absence is about ambivalence, fear or resistance towards growth. We might make a note in the chart to ensure that we bring up the previous bullet point in session to confirm and explore or disregard our wondering. We might get concerned: was it something we did or said that scared off or offended the client? Is the client bored with our sessions? Did the client spontaneously heal? Did they decide to try out a new therapist? Did they simply forget? Get hurt or die in an accident? Commit suicide? With time and experience, and with therapists certain personality types, sometimes we spend merely seconds thinking about it. Experience tells us, we will find out eventually or we won’t. We normally make a note in the chart of an absence and any questions we might want to bring up in the next session. We’ll use that time to catch up on paperwork! Do a little research for the next client, or do some personal readings. Sometimes when a client short-notice-last minute, skips a session, it’s a relief. It’s a mini-spontaneous-non-negotiatiable vacation. It’s not that we don’t want to see the client, because a lot of us enjoy our clients. We enjoy our clients journey, strength, courage and faith that our work together it’s going to help them live a better life.I think most of us, therapist and client alike, simply get it. Just because you’re in therapy doesn’t mean life doesn’t still keep happening. Sometimes we just need a day off. And sometimes we just don’t feel like it. Sometimes there’s an emergency. Sometimes we just don’t wanna leave the house because it’s nasty outside. Two minutes later: I just had a client cancel. This client would be the first of my day. Normally, I would try to fill it. It actually did give me two hours to fill it. Sometimes, I can do it. But instead, I’m going to have another cup of Coffee.I’m healing up from house repairs. It can be mentaly and physically draining. It was. So, I’m going to take a spontaneous-non-negotiatiable-mini-vacation right now. I’m going to sip my coffee and do some more reading on quora.

Is India changing?
Yes it is!SCENE 1:A few months back, Evan Spiegel, CEO of Snapchat gathered the attention of the Indians by his controversial remarks saying that “the app is only for rich people. I don’t want to expand into poor countries like India and Spain”.And this is how Indians reactedHe said nothing wrong. I repeat, NOTHING WRONG! Yes his way of saying might be judgemental but what he actually meant to say is that he does not want to expand his business in countries which do not have easy access to high end connectivity or high end phones(a truth indeed). And if it is about poverty, yes we are poor. India is home to 1/3rd of the extreme poor population. Instead of trolling him, we should have taken it as a challenge to develop India, but we did what we always do, criticize without even knowing the truth.SCENE 2:Today while scrolling my Facebook feed I came across thisKevin Durant an NBA player, on a tour to India commented upon India saying that India is 20 years backward in knowledge. This is his full speech :“Um, it was a unique experience. I went with no expectation, no view on what it’s supposed to be like. I usually go to places where I at least have a view in my head. India, I’m thinking I’m going to be around palaces and royalty and gold — basically thought I was going to Dubai. Then when I landed there, I saw the culture and how they live and it was rough,” Durant told The Athletic in an interview. He further added -“It’s a country that’s 20 years behind in terms of knowledge and experience. You see cows in the street, monkeys running around everywhere, hundreds of people on the side of the road, a million cars and no traffic violations. Just a bunch of underprivileged people there and they want to learn how to play basketball. That was really, really dope to me,”https://www.google.co.in/amp/ind...I was sure that again people might have trollled him heavily although whatever he said was 90% true, if not 100%.But as I opened the comments section, this is what I got -It was really heartwarming to see that this time instead of trolling him my fellow Indians accepted that he said the truth and said about developing our country. This is what we need. “A change in mentality” to make our nation prosper. No matter how much we develop our country in terms of technology and science it is our mentality and narrow outlook towards others that eats us from inside. Maybe this was just luck, a coincidence of a group of open minded people commenting at the same page at the same time but if it is true, we are changing, our behavior and thinking towards others is changing and consequently, the entire nation is changing.Note: I honestly have no intention to hurt someome’s feelings or contradict someone. This was just my personal viewpoint of the question. If I have said anything wrong or contradictory, please let me know in the comments section. Suggestions are welcome :)Thank You!Edit: Thank You for the upvotes! My first answer with 100+ upvotes :)

Who will make up the Avengers after what happened in Avengers: Endgame?
Well, let’s see then. *SPOILERS AHEAD*Falcon: Or should I call him….Captain America? Quite naturally, he’s a sure deal. He’s got heart, he’s tactically minded, can act on the spur as a tactician. He’s not as strong as Cap, but with his wings, he has the advantage of being more mobile. I’m really curious to see how well he can do filling Cap’s shoes.Ant Man and The Wasp:They’re the perfect team for stealth missions and they can be ready for action at a moment’s notice. That’s good, considering Black Widow is dead and Hawkeye probably retired again. They’re gonna make getting the drop on the enemy a breeze. Plus everytime you need some serious heavy lifting, Ant Man’s giant form should come in handy.SpidermanHe’s a little genius in his own right. Not enough to replace Iron Man, mind you, but he’s gonna be really useful in fights. Plus he’s got lots of room to grow.Professor HulkWith Thor running around with the Guardians and Tony Stark dead, Professor Hulk will have to do lots of physical and mental heavylifting. He may get some help from Hank Pym, but it’s still a lot to put on a single guy.Captain Marvel:Thor and Vision being taken out of the picture is a serious blow to the team’s overall combat power. As she has shown in the final fight by almost overpowering Thanos until he used the power stone on her, Carol Danvers seems to be strong enough to fill the gaps. The only problem is that she is likely going to be away from Earth a lot of the time. There’s a big Universe that needs protecting out there.Scarlet WitchAs I said, the Avengers really need some more powerhouses. And I don’t think there’s any contest here. Out of all the Avengers, she is the single one that I can say legitimately rekt Thanos. If he didn’t have his ship’s guns raining down on the battlefield, I am pretty sure she would have smashed him like a soda can. She’s kind of a glass canon, but still a damn powerful canon.War MachineStill here, still full of firepower.Black PantherT’Challa would be a nice addition, but he has responsibilities to his country, so I doubt he could hang out with the Avengers too much.Winter SoldierI really don’t see Bucky as a full time Avenger either. The man’s got issues to take care of, and he’s not that much of a team player really. He can still be an ally, but not much more I believe. With the death of Vision, Iron Man, Black Widow, the retirement of Hawkeye and the subsequent departure of Thor and Captain America, pretty much all the OGs are gone besides Hulk.Yet, the fresh line up is pretty solid, all things considered.Plus, as long as T’Challa is king, they got a reliable ally in Wakanda. Same with Doctor Strange and the masters of the Mystic Arts. And now they have Valkirye and the Asgardians as reinforcements. Earth is their adoptive home, so they have every reason to help the Avengers in case of major threats.Ulitmately, Captain Marvel is still on speed dial. All in all, the new Avengers should be doing alright. And that’s not even mentioning any of the characters that might be introduced in the near future. (My bet’s on Namor)

What are the 5 main pillars of a successful landing page?
That's a terrific formula for optimizing your landing page. It looks daunting, let me break it down for you.If you hang in until the end, I"ll show you how this formula gives you insight into marketing on the internet that very few people understand.First, I'll tell you that it's not arbitrary and not a guess. This formula was refined by http://marketingexperiments.com from over 10,000 trials. You can find lots of terrific information on their website. They're very well respected.Ok, here's how to interpret it.The formula helps you maximize the probability of getting a conversion - in other words, the likelihood that someone will take action on your page.OK, how does this translate then? The likelihood that your page will get someone to take action is a function of primarily:m = the motivation of your visitors. This is why you have to be thoughtful about your traffic sources. If your visitors don't care, you won't convert. This is why the great direct marketer Gary Halbert always said, if you have a hot dog stand and I have a hot dog stand and we're in competition with each other, the greatest advantage I can have over you is… a hungry crowd.v = the clarity of your value proposition. Once they get to your site, they have to get right away - what they can do, and why they should do it on your site instead of the 10,000 other sites they could get to easily. One more note on value proposition. Notice it's the clarity of the proposition not the cleverness. In fact, http://marketingexperiments.com has written articles on the importance of clarity and weakness of clever taglines or slogans. Here's a great one. Clarity Trumps Persuasion. I can't overstate the importance of speaking clearly. And part of the clarity is an explicit direction to take action - "Click the button below to get your download instantly" or whatever is appropriate for your site.i-f - i is the incentive and f is the friction. So there needs to be an incentive for them to act. And all the mailing lists, other offers, and images that aren't relevant are just distractions, other things to click on, that will reduce your conversion rate.a - anxiety. You can see by the "-" that this is a negative. Visitor anxiety peaks right at your call-to-action (the button that says click or buy). You see guarantees and social proof near the call-to-action as a way to decrease visitor anxiety.OK, here's the insight embedded in this formula.Notice that the first three variables are all interrelated in a very specific way. They include: the motivation of your visitors, a clear presentation of something your visitors value, and an incentive that will make your visitors want to take action. The big mistake most marketers on the internet make is thinking they can optimize the different parts independently. They ask, where can I get cheap traffic, what's a headline that really works, what's a great offer I can make. You can see from the equation how you will be more successful with your landing page by thinking of all the parts of the equation as a marketing campaign.Who is a hungry market that I can find and bring to my site, and what is the value proposition THEY would find attractive, and what is an offer THEY would jump at.Rather than looking for someone who promises lots of traffic cheap, or who can write a great headline, or who can develop a great offer you can give away, look for a campaign that optimizes all those for one given group of visitors. Here are two examples. This first example is about as weak as you'll find, though there's a good reason for that. It's Mozilla's Firefox home page. You'll see the page does just about everything wrong, if they mean to convert visitors.m - The visitors are not hungry. Or rather they're hungry but not for the offer Mozilla is making. If I go to a search page, I'm driven to get results for whatever I'm curious about, not whatever Firefox is pitching.v - Their value proposition is not clear at all, except for a particular group. "On November 10, Firefox is celebrating 10 years by stoking the embers of online independence. Sign up to fuel the fire."Some of you will know what the means. Most of you won't. And even those who know what it means probably couldn't say exactly what they'll get by "fueling the fire". This is a great example of "cleverness" over "clarity.i-f - Their incentive is very low (see above) and their friction is very high. First, because if I click that button, I'll be taken away from the search I came for, and I'll go down some path I'm uncertain of. Second, because there's a HUGE distraction, the big search bar which is why I really came to this page.a- Anxiety is probably not terribly high. I'm not concerned about giving my email away. I just don't know how how much I'll be sidetracked if I click the hyperlink they offer. So, with all this stacked against the page, why are they running it? Because Firefox owns 19.6% of the browser market. And this page gets shown to anyone who comes to Google using the Firefox browser. So, even though the page certainly converts terribly, it gets a HUGE amount of traffic for free. Here's a good converter. This is LeadPages Software - Mobile Responsive Landing Page Generator's highest converting page currently. Leadpages.net does nothing but design landing pages. And they have a very big user base that tests constantly. So whatever their hot page is, that's going to be effective.Let's break it down. This page is for a webinar. Webinars are very hot these days.m - The target audience is probably the house lists for these guys. Their house lists (their own email databases) have deep trust for them (Clay Collins owns Leadpages and is an acknowledged guru). And you're not on their list unless you're trying to get your landing pages to convert. So the audience is super well qualified and very motivated.v - The value proposition is actually a little implicit (rather than explicit). We'll tell you how to triple your leads. That's clear. And you have to know these guys to know you'll be getting better information that you would from most webinars.Notice, the pitch is very clear. There are NO cute slogans anywhere to be seen. It's backed up by benefits statements that make it clearer. And, it has two call to action buttons that are very clear.i-f - Incentive. Get your webinar. Friction is low because the visitors know these guys. You'd also find a long facebook comment section under the bottom call to action. They provide social proof right at the major point of commitment.a - Anxiety is pretty darn low. Yeah, I have to give you my email address but I wouldn't be here if I wasn't already on your list. So you already have it. Even at that, they use a "2 step opt in" to lower anxiety. The call-to-action button makes it look like you can just click and get what you want without giving your email address (giving your email raises anxiety). When you click the button, though, you'll get a form to enter your email address. But you've already made a commitment by clicking the button once, so you're more likely to fill out the form. And, in fact, a 2 step opt in reliably increases conversion by something like 15%.So, there are your pillars in action. Go put them to use for your business.

How do I stop using the same words?
Oh man, I definitely have that problem! I suggest something extreme. I disagree with some of the commenters here. Learning new words won't really do anything for your repetitive words habit, because what you need to break is the actual habit. Adding more words won't really help because you're not directly addressing the actual problem.I recommend banning those words from your vocabulary for at least 21 days (that's how long it takes to build a habit apparently). Refraining from using those words will become a mindless habit. It requires a conscious effort not to say them and takes practice at the beginning. Maybe you can tell your friends or whoever you're spending time with to call you out and remind you if you happen to say those words in front of them. If you still want to use those words, try to use them in rare occasions after you've mastered control of their usage.
