Read the fine print, it might only be covered once a calendar year or if twice for frequency limit, it could not be within half a year. Think you can get all your dental work done with your insurance cuz you'd been waiting to get coverage? Think again. You might have a crappy $1000 limit. $1500 better but not that much better. $2000, $2500…much more leeway to work with. Some are lucky enough to no maximum limit for basic and preventative (though frequentcy limits and code substitutions still apply).Then you can move on to the fillings. It depends on the tooth and the number of surfaces. You are looking at anywhere from $120-$400 a tooth. BC has the lowest fees in Canada so it'd be more in other provinces, especially Alberta. You'd have to calculate your co-pay from that.To know a bit better, you can get a pre-determination from the insurance, but it will delay treatment. You can phone and get some idea. Oh, they don't necessarily honour the pre-determination which is only an estimate. The final adjudication is when the claim is made, when they have all the information about what's paid out and fine print in the policy.Navigating dental insurance is very difficult. Expect to get less than what you think you may be covered for and know that they never cover everything you need, so don't use your coverage limitations as the reason for not getting needed treatment.
