Hello,This used to happen to me too back in high school :(I was the straight-A student within the group of my friends, I tried my best to stay humble and quiet about my accomplishments, yet my “friends” grew great jealousy and hate on me. It went from an eye roll from looking at my report card to purposely leaving me out of conversations, it really sucked to be honest. I was struggling to find a work opportunity one year so I can sum up my GPA, I went around and asked all my “friends” if they knew any job openings. Despite mentioning how desperate I was, each and every one of them said ‘no’. Filled with despair, I went through a lot of trouble and embarrassment and finally got employed at a tiny management company with minimal pay. Then??? One day while shopping for my boyfriend at the time, I saw at least 6 of my friends working at a high-class publishing company as part-time workers! I ended up finding out that the company had PLENTY of job openings(they just launched and wanted young learners to experience), and provided a very reasonable amount of pay and hours :(. Man, what hurt me more was that one of them eventually told me that the only reason they hid the opportunity away from me was that they wanted me to fail a little more…wtf? My GPA and overall experience marks ended up looking not as good with the awful little management company job I had, ouch. The lesson I learned? Was to never rely on “friends” to help pave your way (aka give you opportunities). Ask your teachers, your principle, community workers, etc and go outside of your comfort zone for opportunities. I believe that you are a wonderful person, please just forget about your ex-friend. There are lots of fish in the sea! If he prevents you from getting an opportunity – go find another one! If he kicks you out of a study group – try to assemble your own or tell a teacher for assistance. Be strong, be more tolerant, there are tons of nasty people like this in society, try to work around the problems they make for you :)Good luck my friend!
