I have never hired a guide and/or pilot to guide me in 66 years of living here. So I really don’t know. Are you a big tipper or little tipper in a restaurant? I am an average to high tipper when I dine out. My wife never tips at all. My guess is 50 to a hundred dollars each. You should be in Alaska now or soon. This is high tourist season. We just came back from Talkeetna, Alaska today. We stopped and looked at Denali or Mt. Mckinley along the highway. I will tell you about a tipping experience today in Talkeetna. There was little girl about 12 taking tips from people near a small stream. She holds your hand and help you balance as you walk across a ankle high stream on rocks so your feet don’t get wet. I tipped a dollar. Her bucket was full of money. She would help you anyway, if you didn’t tip her. Talkeetna was full of tourists today. There is even two Thai restaurants in Talkeetna. The other option was to walk across the stream with your shows off. Have fun in the Great Land. Sunlight almost 24 hours a day.

You don’t know?It matters.Just because something is radioactive doesn’t make it particularly dangerous.You know what you need every day?Potassium. You will literally go insane if you don’t get potassium. But potassium has a dark side. It’s radioactive. It’s not just radioactive - it emits some rather energetic beta particles. More energetic than the gammas emitted by the Fukushima Cesium everyone worries about, and more frequently. What’s more, betas will interact with your body if it’s inside you. Gammas, however, are actually rather unlikely to interact with you if they are emitted from inside you. (To be clear: K-40 is radioactive - not all potassium isotopes are, and K-40 and Cs-135 & Cs-137 emit betas and gammas, but cesium predominantly emits gammas where K-40 predominantly emits betas).That’s right. Bananas are radioactive. Becquerel for becquerel, more dangerous than cesium, too. (This is because cesium stays in your body ~50–70 days, and though potassium does only 16–20 hours if your body is already saturated with potassium, all of a banana’s betas go into you, whereas cesium’s gammas do not).So a single banana has 15 becquerels in it. Literally, that fish’s contamination is going to give you less in the 50–70 days it is in your body, will give you less than you get from natural sources like the sun, radon, bananas, et cetera in the span of time it takes you to eat it.“But David, the Banana equivelant dose isn’t precise!” No, but it is on the same scale. A thimble and a shot glass aren’t exactly equivelant, but fill them up with water and you aren’t worried about drowning in them.Simply put, no.No, the fish is not nearly as dangerous as things around you that you don’t ever worry about. Like yourself.In fact, the water leaving Fukushima is less radioactive than the ocean itself.

With or without some sort of certificate, I'm pretty sure that without relevant experience, you will only be hired at the entry level for whatever department you join. At that level, no schooling is required. If you are a promising worker, you could probably get the company to send you for short courses to upgrade your skills.

Let's assume for the sake of this question that the calamity is that the entire country just sinks into the ground and is covered in water. Conveniently for Mexico and Canada, this happens exactly at the borders.Now, the question was what the status of the US would be in this case, but we're missing the bigger picture here - the entire world would be in shambles. The #1 superpower, the one that just about every country trades with / gets support from / sells oil to, has just been obliterated, and that'd suck for just about everyone, except for the countries who are able to sustain themselves without trading with the US.Countries who were somewhat peaceful due to US intervention or presence will start wars.Countries whose economy was dependant on the US would collapse.Prices of goods abundant in mainland US would skyrocket.And we, the rest of the world, are supposed to be concerned about Alaska and Hawaii?Now, those two states will be OK militarily, as they get to split the US Navy, but there's no way in hell that they'd re-form the United (two) States of America. Heck, a fair portion of the Hawaiian population already wants to secede from the US as it were.But a global superpower? These states don't have the abundant resources that the mainland USA has, nor do they have the central hubs from which they'd do business. They'd even eventually cut back on the powerful navy they'd have, just because they have so little to protect.So bottom line - the US would lose everything.
