There are quite a few paths to getting a racing license here in the US. Getting the license is easy, getting a job afterward is the hard part.I can explain my path to becoming a licensed RCD. (I use this acronym quite often, and in case anyone is wondering, it means Race Car Driver) this will be a bit of a long answer, so there will be a TL,DR at the bottom.Around October in 2011, I was thinking if gifts to buy my father for Christmas. He has always loved cars, and I knew that Laguna Seca was close to me (since I live in San Francisco). I had heard from different friends and coworkers that there was a racing school at Laguna Seca called Skip Barber. I thought this would be a great gift - trip to racing school for me and my dad! It's always fun to spend time with my dad, and racing school would be even more fun since we would get to drive super fast race cars! I was also making a great salary at the time, so I could easily afford the tuition.I mentioned to my mom that I was thinking if getting us both a spot at Skip Barber. She said it would be good idea, and he would love it.About a month later, I noticed a picture on Facebook of my mom and dad taking their Porsche Cayenne to Colorado National Speedway. (My parents lived in Colorado at the time) I called my mom, and asked her WTF??! She said she had mentioned racing to my dad, and he loved the idea. He found a Porsche Club that was near them, so they joined it. Then they took their Cayman to the track and raced it for the weekend. My idea for his Christmas present was effectively ruined.My dad joined several Porsche clubs. One out it Colorado, and several in California. My mom didn't like racing (making it even more annoying that she ruined my present), so my dad was the only one racing at this point.Then my dad retired, and my parents purchased a home off of Highway One in California.My dad kept racing with the clubs in California, and one day asked if I would like to join him. I said yes, and my racing career began.This is the car I race during track days (my dad is in the background):Just an aside here, club racing isn't really racing. It is technically Driver’s Education. It is a good way to get track time, but the instructors do not teach the correct way to race, they teach the best way for beginners to go fast around the track. So it ends up being a large group of weekend drivers trying to make their way around a track as fast as possible. This can be extremely dangerous, since 90% of them are not driving the correct lines.About 3 years ago, I got a driving instructor. The first time he took me out during a DE I learned how badly I had actually been driving. He has helped my driving improve immensely. I went from a weekend driver to a real RCD.About a month ago, I attended racing school. After completing the beginners course, I was given a provisional regional SCCA License, and I gain more regions with every race I complete. I was lucky, because after my class they were holding an actual race to help get your license.Right now I am in the Sports Racing class, but I would like to work my way up to Formula. After that incredibly long story, the best way to get your racing license is to complete the beginners course with an accredited racing school.Skip Barber has gone out of business, so you can no longer go to them. I reccomend the Lucas Oil racing school, since they are fairly new, and they have great instructors, and a great pit crew. Just keep in mind that you will need racing gear. They also showed concern for your health and love for your family.Promises marriage as soon as he/she gets to state for leave that they asked you to pay for.They Requests money (wire transfers) and Amazon, iTune ,Verizon, etc gift cards, for medicine, religious practices, and leaves to come home, internet access, complete job assignments, help sick friend, get him out of trouble, or anything that sounds fishy.The military does provide all the soldier needs including food medical Care and transportation for leave. Trust me, I lived it, you are probably being scammed. I am just trying to show you examples that you are most likely being connned.Below is an email response I received after I sent an inquiry to the US government when I discovered I was scammed. I was selected for a summer internship 2016.I tried to be very open while filling the preference form: I choose many products as my favorite products and I said I'm open about the team I want to join.I even was very open in the  location and start date to get host matching interviews (I negotiated the start date in the interview until both me and my host were happy.) You could ask your recruiter to review your form (there are very cool and could help you a lot since they have a bigger experience).Do a search on the potential team.Before the interviews,  try to find smart question that you are going to ask for the potential host (do a search on the team  to find nice and deep questions to impress your host). Prepare well your resume.You are very likely not going to get algorithm/data structure questions like in the first round. It's going to be just some friendly chat if you are lucky. If your potential team is working on something like machine learning, expect that  they are going to ask you questions about machine learning, courses related to machine learning you have and relevant experience (projects, internship). Of course you have to study that before the interview. Take as long time as you need if you feel rusty. It takes some time to get ready for the host matching (it's less than the technical interview)  but it's worth it of course.
