My suggestion is to do a radiation survey and see what your possible exposure actually is. If you don’t have the equipment to do it, there are people who do that for a living. You may not need an apron, or you may find that an apron is not enough. You need to find out what the exposure is in the radiation field and also WHERE in the room it is.You look for the highest absorption you can carry since lead is heavy. Some aprons don’t need to absorb very much since if you work in a dental office there are very low levels of exposure. You need to determine just how much exposure you are exposed to. Collimators can very greatly reduce exposure without personal protective equipment. In addition, if you leave the area or get behind the tube (if using X-ray) you can minimize possible exposure.Your question leaves too many unanswered questions to give a good answer. Are you using source (what kind and how powerful) or X-ray (kV and mA?) These will determine how penetrating and how much radiation you can be exposed to.

Trust me, I lived it, you are probably being scammed. I was selected for a summer internship 2016.I tried to be very open while filling the preference form: I choose many products as my favorite products and I said I'm open about the team I want to join.I even was very open in the  location and start date to get host matching interviews (I negotiated the start date in the interview until both me and my host were happy.) You could ask your recruiter to review your form (there are very cool and could help you a lot since they have a bigger experience).Do a search on the potential team.Before the interviews,  try to find smart question that you are going to ask for the potential host (do a search on the team  to find nice and deep questions to impress your host). Lead aprons and/or skirt and vest garments need to be between 0.35 and 0.5 mm thick, properly stored, and inspected every 6 months to a year for cracks, creases, or rupture to ensure adequate protection.
