Why aren't war trophies and "bringbacks" allowed in the US military?
Because the United States military prides itself as the most highly trained and professional military force in the world. We are not thieves, or mercenaries, or rapists etc. The things that occurred in past times are what they are, but the stuff GI's from all allied nations raided, stole, sent home etc. was not anything of military nature or related. They stole all the silver, china, jewelry anything from just regular civilians. You don't win hearts and minds and appear to be a peaceful liberation force if our infantry is tossing every house and taking everything of value. lolIn present day every single box, case, container, bag, you name it. Is laid out and searched one by one by customs agents (usually coast guard) in country.. then they watch you load it all and they seal the container. THEN it gets shipped back to the states.. yes you can slip something small by them but I'm talking something that can fit in your pocket. There have been TONS of soldiers busted building false walls in shipping containers and trying to send back AK's, RPK's, RPG's, AT4's, grenades, you name it. I'm sure some have successfully done it but it's hard, most get caught, and it's not worth being in federal "man sex daily" prison. The invasion of Iraq in 2003 was when we had the best opportunity cause every process for returning home was new and we all had the most equip to bring back. I got Iraqi helmets, bayonets, uniforms, but that was it. BUT every unit was able to bring home some Iraqi heavy weaponry to put outside of our headquarters, we got a couple big ass AA guns. We tried to bring back this Honda motorcycle that the feyadeen has mounted a recoiless rifle to, but the commanders wouldn't sign off. LolTrust me many many soldiers brought back stuff. Just not big, expensive, valuable things or anywhere near the scale of past wars. And no weapons what so ever. Anyone that has been in the post 9/11 military and tells you they got to bring their M4 (or ANY weapon for that matter) home with them is a complete 100% full of shit liar that never served. We wish we could bring guns back like WW2 vets did. That would be amazing.

Do military members have to pay any fee for leave or fiancee forms?
NOOOOOOO. You are talking to a military romance scammer. I received an email from the US Army that directly answers your question that is pasted below please keep reading.I believe you are the victim of a military Romance Scam whereas the person you are talking to is a foreign national posing as an American Soldier claiming to be stationed overseas on a peacekeeping mission. That's the key to the scam they always claim to be on a peacekeeping mission.Part of their scam is saying that they have no access to their money that their mission is highly dangerous. If your boyfriend girlfriend/future husband/wife is asking you to do the following or has exhibited this behavior, it is a most likely a scam:Moves to private messaging site immediately after meeting you on Facebook or SnapChat or Instagram or some dating or social media site. Often times they delete the site you met them on right after they asked you to move to a more private messaging siteProfesses love to you very quickly & seems to quote poems and song lyrics along with using their own sort of broken language, as they profess their love and devotion quickly. They also showed concern for your health and love for your family.Promises marriage as soon as he/she gets to state for leave that they asked you to pay for. They Requests money (wire transfers) and Amazon, iTune ,Verizon, etc gift cards, for medicine, religious practices, and leaves to come home, internet access, complete job assignments, help sick friend, get him out of trouble, or anything that sounds fishy. The military does provide all the soldier needs including food medical Care and transportation for leave. Trust me, I lived it, you are probably being scammed. I am just trying to show you examples that you are most likely being connned.Below is an email response I received after I sent an inquiry to the US government when I discovered I was scammed. I received this wonderful response back with lots of useful links on how to find and report your scammer. And how to learn more about Romance Scams.Right now you can also copy the picture he gave you and do a google image search and you will hopefully see the pictures of the real person he is impersonating. this doesn't always work and take some digging. if you find the real person you can direct message them and alert them that their image is being used for scamming.Good Luck to you and I'm sorry this may be happening to you. please continue reading the government response I received below it's very informative. You have contacted an email that is monitored by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. Unfortunately, this is a common concern. We assure you there is never any reason to send money to anyone claiming to be a Soldier online. If you have only spoken with this person online, it is likely they are not a U.S. Soldier at all. If this is a suspected imposter social media profile, we urge you to report it to that platform as soon as possible. How do US military people ask for leave?
With a form. In the Army, it's the Department of Army Form 31. Leadership often asks that it is accompanied by a variety of additional paperwork. It is never fun requesting leave. If you are driving to you destination, you frequently have to fill out a form called TRIPs. This is an application that asks you how many miles you are driving, how often you plan to rest, if you are taking another driver, etc. Your supervisor checks your results and you travel plan. Also if you are driving you also have to fill out a vehicle maintenance check sheet. An NCO or officer will stand there and check that you have tire pressure, oil, lights, windshield wipers are not worn, etc. They'll even make sure you have a clean car.You have to fill out a mental health check sheet. This looks at major stressors in your life, like divorce or a death in the family. If you score too high you’ll still likely get to go on leave, but not before seeing a chaplain or mental health professional.A leave and earning statement is almost always required. This proves that you have the leave days accrued. Service members gain leave at 2.5 days a month (if I remember correctly). If you are flying, an itenerary is necessary. A strange requirement given that leave hasn't been appproved yet.Another form that shows you know the phone numbers of your leadership and your company/battalion phone numbers. You will definitely need a vacation after filling out the paperwork. Now, while a service member may technically take leave all year round, there are often block periods to which your leadership will confine your leave days. These days are normally sometime in the summer and always during Xmas. Taking two weeks at random, during the spring, for instance, generally requires special circumstances. The higher ranking the requester, the more likely these off-days will be approved.

Do military personnel need money to fill out a leave request form?
It’s great that you asked. The answer is NO. Also, whatever you are doing with this person, STOP!Bloody hell, how many of these “I need your money to see you sweetheart” scammers are there? It’s probably that or someone totally misunderstood something. All military paperwork is free! However, whether their commander or other sort of boss will let them return or not depends on the nature of duty, deployment terms, and other conditions. They can’t just leave on a whim, that would be desertion and it’s (sorry I don’t know how it works in America) probably punishable by firing (as in termination of job) or FIRING (as in execution)!!!Soldiers are generally paid enough to fly commercial back to home country.Do not give these people any money or any contact information! If you pay him, you’ll probably get a receipt from Nigeria and nothing else.

What are the differences between the branches of military? I just want my son to be in a good position for a civilian job or college when he leaves the military.
My dad had a lot of reserves when I wanted to join at 20 and asked for the same information.Marines- bad ass mother fuckers. Your son will never be the same again, in a good way. He’s not likely to gain many employable skills for the civilian world, but he will always be a Marine. He’s very likely to be deployed into hostile areas, but he’ll embrace that. Quality of life is low but a happy Marine is one that's complaining.Army- quality of life is also low. There are better skills to be picked up for transitioning back into the real world. Again, very likely to be deployed and/or stationed in an armpit. People are typically less intelligent in the Army.Air Force- best quality of life. Best food. Most funding. Best technical training for careers which usually come with a high security clearance. Depending on his chosen job, he's likely to have a cushy life. Deployments are in hotel rooms with cleaners, AC, and internet. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED.Navy- second best technical training for a career. Quality of life Is decent if you're not stationed on a ship, but even then it's better than the Marines and Army. It's relatively safe but expect your son to cuss like a motherfucker, have some dumb tattoos, and develop a slight drinking problem. He’ll see some awesome places and appreciate little things in real life a lot more.Coast Guard- a lot like the Navy but you CANT choose your job. It's not a good branch for career development. You also get the least amount of respect in the Coast Guard. I don't reccomend the Coast Guard at all.I was in the Navy as a weatherman (AG) for four years, stationed on an aircraft carrier. Now I'm an E5 in the Air National Guard (3D0x2) as a Network Administrator just so I could upgrade my security clearance.Whatever branch he chooses he will still get college paid for when he's out and like $2,000 a month for rent while he's in school. He’ll be a better person and will be a veteran, which is one of the most closely knit groups of people I've ever seen. You should sit down with him, give him a beer, and ask him what he wants to do after his service. Use that to choose a job; not what's safest or easiest.

How do I respond to a request for a restraining order? Do I need to fill out a form?
As asked of me specifically; The others are right, you will likely need a lawyer. But to answer your question, there is a response form to respond to a restraining order or order of protection. Worst case the form is available at the courthouse where your hearing is set to be heard in, typically at the appropriate clerk's window, which may vary, so ask any of the clerk's when you get there. You only have so many days to respond, and it will specify in the paperwork. You will also have to appear in court on the date your hearing is scheduled. Most courts have a department that will help you respond to forms at no cost. I figure you are asking because you can't afford an attorney which is completely understandable. The problem is that if you aren't represented and the other person is successful in getting a temporary restraining order made permanent in the hearing you will not be allowed at any of the places the petitioner goes, without risking arrest.I hope this helps. Not given as legal advice-

Does a girlfriend have to fill out a leave request form for a US Army Soldier in Special Operations in Africa?
Let me guess, you've been contacted via email by somebody you’ve never met. they've told you a story about being a deployed soldier. At some stage in the dialogue they’ve told you about some kind of emotional drama, sick relative/kid etc. They tell you that because they are in a dangerous part of the world with no facilities they need you to fill in a leave application for them. Some part of this process will inevitably involve you having to pay some money on their behalf. The money will need to be paid via ‘Western Union’. Since you havent had much involvement with the military in the past you dont understand and are tempted to help out this poor soldier. they promise to pay you back once they get back from war.if this sounds familiar you are being scammed. There is no soldier just an online criminal trying to steal your money. If you send any money via Western Union it is gone, straight into the pockets of the scammer. you cant get it back, it is not traceable, this is why scammers love Western Union. They aernt going to pay you back, once they have your money you will only hear from them again if they think they can double down and squeeze more money out of you.Leave applications need to be completed by soldiers themselves. They are normally approved by their unit chain of command. If there is a problem the soldier’s commander will summon them internally to resolve the issue. This is all part of the fun of being a unit commander!! If the leave is not urgent they will wait for a convenient time during a rotation etc to work out the problems, if the leave is urgent (dying parent/spouse/kid etc) they will literally get that soldier out of an operational area ASAP. Operational requirements come first but it would need to be something unthinkable to prevent the Army giving immediate emergency leave to somebody to visit their dying kid in hospital etc.The process used by the scammers is known as ‘Advance fee fraud’ and if you want to read about the funny things people do to scam the scammers have a read over on The largest scambaiting community on the planet!
