It's awesome that you're looking to Python and Django for this project. When I think of applications that align with the structure of Django, I think of applications like the one to which you have been assigned. Here's how I, at least, would go about tackling this puppy. First, the front end--contrary to what one might think, functionality should never come before design, especially when you will be reporting to a group of people who, by a decent probability, aren't particularly technical individuals. You want somebody to look at your application and intuitively know how to interact with it and incur its value. I would recommend contributing signNow resources into developing the front end of your application, which, luckily, doesn't involve  (well, hardly involves) Django or Python. Here's where HTML/Cascading Style Sheets will come in handy. In addition, I would suggest going out and picking up a bit of javascript, so that you can perform a substantive portion of logic on the client side (e.g. authenticating forms, animation, etc.) [1].I imagine that this involves creating the site architecture, graphics, themes, site-wide templates, forms, and the like. Build the website that you would like without accounting for the data that would make it a web application. As a project head, I might work as a large group in designing how you want the application to look and flow, and then assign a few people to go independently learn how go and implement it. You also might find a way to keep track of the code that you write, such as with git, especially since you're working a other people.---So, now you have a folder on a company server with a bunch of static html, css, and graphics files on it. Now we want to go figure out how to allow your company to:upload employee informationallow employees and their supervisors/managers to discretely see that informationallow employees to upload information in the form of secure legal consentallow employees to upload information and share it with their peers (dashboards, graphs, sales, etc.)Django will allow you to do all of this, and more! There are two caveats, though, and there resolution doesn't fall under my slight area expertise. First, I think you should check with the company's legal department with regards to the employment of virtual signatures and consent. Second is security--a lot of this information seems confidential, or at least pretty important to the company, so, if you are to contract out any of it, I would hire an individual who can make sure that your application is run securely. Now, using Django as a framework: instead of the traditional web 1.0 architecture (a client calls the server, which responds with a page of html that is stored in its memory), Django allows the server to dynamically generate responses to requests by taking data from the database (Model), manipulating and formatting that data (View), and representing that data to the user (template). My advice is to crank through Python in a week, and then do the entire official Django tutorial [2]. From that, I'd start with the templates; you have all these static files, and you must use Django's template language to set these files up for the views. I'll be quicker now, because I think that the Django Tutorial will be very comprehensive in demonstrating how one ought to go approach thinking about a Django application. You should then build the Models, which should be more straightforward than one would think--it's SQL logic, with an added layer of pretty-intuitive abstraction. Personally, I would struggle, at least, with properly figuring out how to store full files (not just basic data) uploaded by the user. For this project, you have an array of data types that you need to store, and I think even scribing this list will be quite a revealing task in itself, in terms of the proper structure of your application. ---From that, we move on talk about storing your data. Obviously, this is where the actual value of your application is derived, and it is important that you choose the right set of tools so that you don't end up a in a bad situation [3]. I think you should stick with SQl, and use a system such as MySQL or Postgresql for your application. Django has a really great way of interacting with this data through Python in your views, and you're mostly concerned about reliability and speed. Django is quite formidable alongside these two systems, at the least. I would then break away for a bit and dedicate some time towards figuring out how you ought to deploy your application. I would look into hiring somebody to deploy it, as well as to maintain it. They might use a cloud platform, such as Amazon Web Sources, or a VPS in order to host your Django application and the data behind it [4]Finally, I would think that carrying out the Views - connecting the Models to the Templates - would be a good choice. Here's where you put to work your knowledge of Python's algorithms and syntax, and you create meaningful application logic. Now, I assume that you have an application that works with a couple of test users in its database, you can move fluidly from page to page, and everything seems to work. Then, certainly, you test (a lot). I think that you can then put it up on the intranet. It won't be 100% done (I'm not sure that projects like this are ever done) but it'll be a good working version [5].Here are some things that I think other people who answer might take into account, or things about which you might read a bit more (I've written too much, already, and I'm not necessarily sufficiently-well ): user authentication, security, coding in a team, Django filters, SQL vs. noSQL, Django forms, site administration, testing, and general performance when working with Python. ----[1] I don't think that it's wise, as some may suggest, to tell you to go out and learn two programming languages + one non-trivial web framework in order to complete your project. I think that it's a valuable thing to do, but not on a deadline, and not unless they are things that you could see yourself using towards your own practical ends in the future. Instead, I think you should go out and pick through online tutorials and code with regards to features that you are actually implementing in your application. Some ones that I like are those on codeacademy (javascript, Python), the Python documentation (awesome!), and the Django documentation (awesome!!). [2] For Python for Django, you don't need to know how the language works, nor every data structure and standard library function. You should aim, in terms of Python, to understand basic Object-Oriented programming, data structures up through lists and dictionaries, and basic functions with interacting with the OS, and basic searching and sorting algorithms, on top of how Python deals with boolean logic, loops, conditionals, and how it stores data. Python is designed to be intuitive and simple, such that you have access to a lot of functionality with very few lines of code.[3] One example might be with facebook, although I'm not knowledgeable on the facebook technology stack. Mark Zuckerberg wrote the original facebook code in PHP, and I think the company kind of snowballed off of there. Now, the facebook company takes PHP code and, with an engine that they built, convert that code into C++ in order to run faster. This feels like a rather conflated approach, although it might be the best way to serve billions of hits. While I'm sure their database network is regardless comprehensive, it might not be easy for you to make extensive architechtural changes to your application once the ball has started to roll. [4] It will be a great feeling when you finish your application and with a few lines see it live on the company's intranet; you shouldn't have to sort how to bring it to life after finishing it. [5] I wouldn't throw out all the documents that you've scanned. Not at this point, at least.

If your potential team is working on something like machine learning, expect that  they are going to ask you questions about machine learning, courses related to machine learning you have and relevant experience (projects, internship). Of course you have to study that before the interview. Take as long time as you need if you feel rusty. It takes some time to get ready for the host matching (it's less than the technical interview)  but it's worth it of course.
