When I was twelve, my dad died. I have five siblings and we ranged at the time from seven years old to eighteen. (They weren't.)Why this was so incredibly selfish was because we weren't allowed to grieve anymore after that. We all had to be happy because mom had a new boyfriend-then-husband, and we all felt like we couldn't even talk about Dad anymore. Mom still talked about him but only to force our good behavior, ie: "You are all such terrible children! Your father wanted you to be raised this way and I've sacrificed so much for you...!" He wasn't even a good stepdad. He could have been worse, sure, but he'd fight with mom then storm out of the house and she'd blame it on us.Less than six months after my dad died he and my mom went on a drive and left me to change a curtain rod. I was still twelve and very small for my age, and I couldn't signNow the curtain rod. I tried, hard, but I kept falling off the back of the couch. They got back and saw that I hadn't done it, so the step-dad kept saying to me "Hah, I knew you were useless." while laughing and repeating it over and over like it was hilarious. I lost my temper and said "You're just a fat old man!" (he was 13 years older than my mom so he seemed quite elderly to me.) He, in front of my mother who had been laughing at his denigration of my handyman attempts, grabbed me, shook me hard, and screamed in my face "You stupid little b***ch!" and stormed out of the house.Mom then spanked me for trying to ruin her marriage.I just wanted my dad back, but I couldn't even say that because what if it made the step-dad feel bad?

Buy time to focus more on your career.  You can invest small amounts of money to buy yourself time.  You can invest money to pay for things like grocery deliveries, laundry services, etc. to increase your time.  Sometimes you can get a whole hour for less than you make in 10 minutes -- always make that trade-off if you can afford it.  If you can put more hours in your career, you should see faster and larger raises, promotions, etc.More details at: What is the best way to maximize profit using my 20K?Cut your expensesThe second best investment for a young person to make is to cut your expenses -- especially the reoccurring expenses.  Cutting expenses is much better than corresponding income because you get taxed on income.  And if you live in a place like California or Manhattan, then you get taxed A LOT on income (top tax bracket for Fed+State+local is about 54%).  For instance: Cut expenses like your monthly cable bill -- if you call your cable or mobile phone provider, you could probably knock off $15/mo in a 30 min phone call.  That means you just made $180/year tax free.   Cancel other services you don't use.  Get a place with lower rent and just live cheaper.  Long-term: two years of savingsIf you grow your revenues enough and cut your expenses enough, you will save.  If things go well, you might achieve freedom.  My definition of financial freedom for a young person is having two years of savings in the bank.  That means you could sustain your current lifestyle for two years with no additional income.  If you can achieve two years of savings, you can take real risks.  You can quit your job to pursue a "crazy" idea.  You have freedom to build real wealth.

Trust me, I lived it, you are probably being scammed. Anything that does not involve going to university and paying for it with loans/grants.Join the service.Get a full time job and take a class at a time and pay with cash.Find an employer that will pay for your schooling.Get married so you can be considered an independent student 9but not from your husband).Jus t get a job. By the time the government lets you file as an independent student(age 24) you may have found an even better pattern that doesn’t involve college at all.

I was selected for a summer internship 2016.I tried to be very open while filling the preference form: I choose many products as my favorite products and I said I'm open about the team I want to join.I even was very open in the  location and start date to get host matching interviews (I negotiated the start date in the interview until both me and my host were happy.) You could ask your recruiter to review your form (there are very cool and could help you a lot since they have a bigger experience).Do a search on the potential team.Before the interviews,  try to find smart question that you are going to ask for the potential host (do a search on the team  to find nice and deep questions to impress your host). Prepare well your resume.You are very likely not going to get algorithm/data structure questions like in the first round. It's going to be just some friendly chat if you are lucky. If your potential team is working on something like machine learning, expect that  they are going to ask you questions about machine learning, courses related to machine learning you have and relevant experience (projects, internship). Of course you have to study that before the interview. Take as long time as you need if you feel rusty. It takes some time to get ready for the host matching (it's less than the technical interview)  but it's worth it of course.
