I don’t have a variety of encounters, but I’ll share advice from my own experience (this applies to at least Geotechnical Engineering, one of the most common jobs for geologists, at least in California).-Get a 4 year degree, that’s a minimum requirement for everything I’ve seen. You don’t have to focus on geotechnical engineering, heck, I didn’t even know what it was when I applied for my current job.-You’ll probably start off as a soil technician or something similar for a couple years, not much geology but it really gives you a good understanding of the industry and gives you the experience.-I can’t believe I’m saying this because I never believed anyone, but cold calling (emailing) actually does work. All the smaller companies don’t feel comfortable hiring on the big websites and usually hire their friends kid who ends up sucking since they don’t have much of a geology background. Just say you’re a recent graduate (or about to graduate, whatever) and that you’re interested in the world of geotechnical engineering and are wondering if they’re looking to take you in. They won’t pay you well at all, and you’ll feel really underappreciated in that regard since you’ll think you deserve more since you have a degree, but this industry is about who you know and how long you’ve been in it so don’t expect fast growth (it takes at least 5 years to get a license that makes you actually valuable to a company). The benefit of working for a small company is that you’ll wear many hats and become proficient in many skills (drafting, drilling, lab work, geologic mapping, writing, low scale engineering, etc).-Try applying online to all of the postings you see. Like I said before, you may have to start with soil technician so look for those too. Great way to get your foot in the door (though this is a harder route if you’re a female since they’ll assume you’re not tough enough to handle the heavy lifting and dealing with male construction workers - and that’s not to be taken lightly, if you can’t handle mild sexism and not politically correct comments I DO NOT recommend this option, it’s getting better, but still room to improve). The bigger companies definitely offer better options and room for growth, but you might not learn as great a variety of stuff.-If this is anywhere up the alley of answering your question I’d be happy to write more, I just didn’t want to get any more wordy than I already have. Now, she can easily swallow the fish, but instead of making another attempt, she is stuck to her negative experience. Just one more attempt can change her fate, but this Piranha will live with this bad experience throughout her life”.Why do we lack confidence?Because we once tried to do something but failed, therefore, we lost confidence in ourselves.To become socially confident, we need to think less and do more. Over-thinking kills the confidence. Bad experiences happen in life, but does it mean that good experiences will never happen?Ok, you failed ten times, but eleventh attempt will change everything.Confidence comes with experience, experience comes with multiple attempts.If you’re thinking that you can’t do something, believe me, you will behave in a very underconfident manner. Always speak to yourself with confidence and talk to others in the same way.No one will kill you if you say something wrong or make a mistake. But at least say/do.If you’re very shy, pretend to be confident. People can’t detect that. After sometime, you will gain experience and no more need for pretence.Keep trying. Fake it, until you make it.Dress well, go out everyday, walk like a badass guy and forget that you failed in something yesterday. Today is a new day, make a new attempt.I fully understand that once you were rejected by a cute girl. Maybe she was in a hurry? Maybe she was just not feeling well? Maybe she had a problem at home? Maybe she failed the exam and didn’t feel like talking to you.But you - my friend, instead of giving it another try, made a conclusion that you are ugly or fat or short and killed your chance and thought it’s better not to try again.Ohh really???Don’t be a piranha!

I live in Germany. I got an invite to the Quora partner program the day I landed in USA for a business trip. So from what I understand, irrespective of the number of views on your answers, there is some additional eligibility criteria for you to even get an email invite.If you read the terms of service, point 1 states:Eligibility. I am not an American. But it would depend on the person's circumstances. How much do they earn? If you earn little then you don't need to file a tax return. How do they earn it? Self employed or employed?Do they travel? You need a passport.How long do they live? - if they die after birth then it is very little. Do they live in the USA?What entitlements do they have?Do they have dialysis? This is federally funded.Are they on medicaid/medicare?.Are they in jail or been charged with a crime?Then how do you count it? Do you count forms filled in by the parents?Then there is the census the Constitution which held every ten years.

You will need to find a referring Massachusetts physician who will review your medical records, discuss your condition and past treatment approaches, and decide whether to submit your application to the Mass. Department of Public Health.  Searching "Medical Marijuana Recommendation Massachusetts" will provide more than a couple references.It costs $50 a year for patient registration cards.  In order to obtain your card, you will have to visit the DPH website and fill out the on-line application.  After your application has been accepted, you will be issued a medical card by mail.  This card will allow you to purchase cannabis from Mass. dispensaries.  Be advised that the amount of cannabis you will be allowed to obtain will be restricted to a maximum of 10 oz. of flowers or its equivalent in concentrated form, every two months, that purchases are tracked. and dispensaries will not be allowed to "oversell."

I was among the toppers in the batch and we all have a latent hatred towards community medicine(not so glamorous, you see). I was married too, and I thought - ‘Heck, I’ll just get into WHO and compensate for it all.’ - immaturity was kinda my middle name then (Now too, sometimes hehehe).I had gotten into a prestigious college which was famous for its service and for its’ community medicine department and boy, my eyes opened - that story is for later. I began to love my subject and was defending it to my last breath.Anyway, one day this senior of mine casually informs me that she got into WHO as a Surveillance Medical Officer and I began to pester her as to what to do to get in. She is my opposite- cool as a cucumber - and said “ Just apply- you’ll get in.”I waited patiently for 2 more years and BAM! suddenly this senior sends me an application form to fill for WHO. Ran to the printing place - filled it -scanned it- and sent it.Then came the loooonnnggg waiting period (of approximately 15–20 days) - where every friend of mine along with the senior heard me whining that ‘They’ve not answered - they won’t consider me’ - ‘If i don’t get in what do I do?’ ‘What if they lost my courier?’A friend replied - ‘ Rashmi.. You have scanned it and sent it via email’‘What if they don’t see my email!’His reaction:Then comes the beautiful e-mail. ‘ You have been shortlisted for the written test and the interview.’I phoned every possible person who I had whined with and told them ‘ I am goinggg for the interviewwwww!’After applying the one last leave I had, I signNowed Delhi for the interview at around 3am - Stayed with one of the coolest uncles (story for later) and got ready for the interview at around 8 am - all the while singing.My test and interview was scheduled at around 10 am. I entered the place and suddenly all kinds of butterflies started Yakshagana+Bharatanatyam+Kathakali in my belly.A kind lady was sitting at the reception and I could manage to squeak - ‘ WHO.. Interview…Rashmi.. Here for the interview’She directed me to a room filled with potential candidates. I scanned the room- all experienced-looking - all male - all staring at me like ‘who are you? you worm’ (in my imagination). I cowered a bit and went into the corner.Suddenly someone peeps in and says ‘ Hi guys! Why so serious?? Have fun, talk to each other atleast!’I believed someone is looking at me from a camera - whether I’m interacting with someone and looked at the most South Indian guy around (Atleast something in common!) and started talking. (Poor fellow, I ate his brains- he still tells me so.)Anyway - there came the written test. It was a standard question in public health but as mentioned before- all the dance forms were happening in my belly and I don’t think I performed to my full potential.On speaking to that other victim of mine (the South Indian guy) - I came to know he’s also not performed well. I should actually thank him, he got my talkative self out.Then comes the interview. The interviewers introduced themselves but I don’t remember anything.They started with simple questions and moved on to more technical questions- all answered with ease.Finally one person asks - OK Rashmi.. Any doubts?And I blurt out : Umm.. only one. AM I SELECTED?All interviewers started laughing :(I said : Bye bye.. See you ( hint, hint) and left.Uff..
