okay we're recording okay so let's get started talking about birds uh before we jump birds we'd like to kind of talk a little bit about uh state land and and how we manage our state land so if you've ever been um through a state management area uh you you've been to one of these green blobs around the state uh so gabby and i hail from the great swamp down here that's our field headquarters uh that's a 3600 acre property it's absolutely beautiful great bird watching spot but we have them all over the state and these um the purpose of our management areas is primarily wildlife habitat um to protect that habitat in perpetuity for our wildlife but it's also for public recreation as well primarily hunting and fishing so if you watched um the video you learned that our most of the wildlife conservation projects in the state are funded through the wildlife and sport fish restoration program and that is generated through an excise tax on firearms ammunition archery equipment boating equipment
