uh my name is paul edison loma i'm the  communications director and past president   of the geological society of the oregon country  and we are the oldest collaboration of amateurs   and professional geologists in the pacific  northwest we have been stopping the car and   pulling over at outcrops for over 86 years  and bringing field trips and lectures to the   portland metropolitan region and portland state  gl portland state university the someone asked   earlier set up this question the oregon country  is a territorial concept that included the states   of oregon washington idaho a little bit of wyoming  it was uh i guess if we went back to our pre-1846   boundaries we could march up to vancouver and and  claim british columbia but in fact the reason that   the title oregon country was chosen by professor  e.t hodge at university of oregon back in 1936   is that it roughly encompasses the watersheds  of the snake and columbia rivers in fact most   of u
