hello everyone my name is Reina Hara and I'm president of the California landmark foundation for the last year you've seen me pointing at landmarks here and there but really what's the point San Joaquin City was established in 18-49 during the California Gold Rush the San Joaquin City site was located just west of this point here on the west bank of the San Joaquin River this is actually where Durham Ferry would have been back in the day and that was a major thoroughfare travelers went over this ferry here to get across the river they ended up right in San Joaquin City as terminal 4 river boats it played an important part in development of west side grain farming and cattle raising on November 3rd 1962 a bronze plaque was placed at the site of San Joaquin City that bronze plaque stood for 43 years back in October of 2005 the residents across the street reported this plaque stolen that's 15 years this site have gone without black [Music] the California Landmark Foundation is teaming up
