in this video i'm explaining what is capitation payment and health insurance and so here we have a doctor and the question is how does the insurer pay the doctor how much money and in this case the doctor comes up with a roster of patients that this doctor is responsible for treating any time they come into the doctor's office now what this means is these patients aren't actually coming in um it's just that these patients are on this doctor's roster and this doctor is obligated to treat any of these patients with whatever they need whenever they come in the door so the doctor submits the roster to the insurance company and the insurance company has a certain payment per patient so the insurer will say okay it looks like you have 500 patients on your roster we pay you 400 per patient so we'll pay you my apologies i had the comma incorrectly so the insurer in this case is going to pay the doctor 200 000 for taking care of this 500 patient group of people and that's just 500 times 400 so
