A lot of people say that swimming is an individual sport, and in a way, it is. You're the only one in the pool at that time, and your time that comes up is your time. But I don't view it that way at all, especially on a team like this. We're a part of something that's way bigger than ourselves, and there's so much more to it than just getting in swimming fast. We're fighting for something together. It is so painful sometimes, I'm going to tell you. It sucks so much. I just want to get practice over with-- like it hurts so bad, or I'm having a really bad day. But it's so worth it when you touch the wall, and you see your teammates or your coaches freaking out, or you see a time on the board that you never dreamed of going. That makes it all worth it. That's what's motivated me through the four years, is to just keep raising the bar and keep making this team better, not only athletically but academically. And just as people, I want to make this team better than it's ever been.
