So we have had yet another tragic incident occur in our county, this time it left a deputy wounded and the suspect deceased. This is the third shooting that we have had in the past four months in this county, which is very unusual for San Luis Obispo County. This incident began about 10:20 AM this morning, when a deputy was driving on theater drive in the 3400 block. He noticed a vehicle on the side of the road that was parked, he recognized the vehicle as belonging to a wanted felon, and he made a U-turn and came back. The vehicle had been left unoccupied, and when the deputy drove about 100 yards north of the vehicle he located the suspect walking on the road adjacent to the cemetery, which is Cemetery Road. He turned up Cemetery Road and made a pedestrian traffic stop. In other words, he turned on his lights, he contacted the suspect, asked him to stop and to talk to him.
