It's a difficult one to answer because it depends on a lot of variables.Who are they with? Where are they going/doing?Is it an activity that will normally last into the night?I can only talk from personal experience and say that, my mom and I always discussed above before she made a decision about my "curfew". If I was at a friends place, I could sleep over if I wanted. If it was a "party" she would pick me up at 2 (this was quite rare at 14 though). The cinema: Some friends and I once went to a midnight showing of part 1 and 2 of a movie and it didn't finish until 4.30, so then the curfew was 4.30. At 14, but especially when I became older and started to go out in town, and started drinking, it wasn't necessarily what time I came home, but how I got home. I have always, and can still at 19, call my mom (or stepdad, dad or stepmom) at any time during the night - anything else than walk home alone or drive with someone I don't know.  I would suggest you talk to your teenager. What does he/she think is reasonable, but also enforce your rules. I personally believe 14 year olds shouldn't run around after 2am. "Nothing good happens after 2 o'clock." Unless there's special circumstances, like when I went to the cinema. Therefore, take into account the above mentioned 3 thoughts. Good luck with it!

It’s your house and your rules (within reason). Explain that you decide when and how to reward privileges in the home. Your teenager has an option to earn those privileges or to go without them. Don’t argue about it. What might be on this list of privileges? In my house that would include:WiFi (My router allows me to lock out users, and since we don’t have cable, I can shut off the tv as well).Cellular data (I have an app that lets me turn services on or off whenever I want)Note, I don’t take the phone away. I just make it useless.Special snacksCarbonated drinks getting restockedCooking for my child (he can cook)Spending money (well, duh!)Laundry (he does his own, but only under duress)Being driven to places. (He has a bike and knows the bus routes.)You are not a servant or an ATM. If your teen wants something, he needs to provide something. It’s quid pro quo, but that’s life. Teach him that nothing in life is free. You can give love and support. You can empathize that it’s rough going without things, but they cost you time and money. You can only afford to share if you feel that your work is appreciated.Taking this approach has really reduced the amount of arguing in our home. I can just turn things off, and the garbage and compost go out the door almost as if by magic.Try it.

As weird as it sounds, baby fever for a 16 year old doesn’t surprise me. It might be surprising to a lot of other people, but the fact is usually they aren’t teenage girls.When I was only 14 or 15, I was in with a group of girls at my high school, and one day they started talking about how babies were really cute and thus they kind of wanted one. Luckily though we were giggling about it because of how ridiculous that idea is in our current society. Just for the record, I did not want babies as a teenager, I was more interested in children (still am, I have family fever, not baby fever). I did find the whole moment rather amusing though.No matter how inapproriate or trashy people around us think it is, when you’re a teenage girl, past about the age of 16, your body goes into it’s fertility prime (which peaks more in your early twenties, then dies down slowly in thirties). Sometimes, I think this can be accompanied by episodic but very strong urges towards procreating.I’ve spoken to many women who have said they had baby-pining thoughts when they were very young, especially if they were an older child in a family. You suddenly start to really love the young children you have in your care being an older cousin, auntie, even sister, and your girly pituitary gland lulls you into a false sense of security, ie. I’d be a great mother, I can care for my little sister so well, I wish I could have a baby as cute as this, I wonder what a baby with *insert hot guy or boyfriend here* would look like etc.Some young women, like the group of 14 year olds I’ve mentioned, are well-adjusted, well-raised and smart enough to know this is crazy and that they should resist because they don’t know what they’re doing. However, others let themselves be carried away on the tide, and allow themselves to be convinced that this is a good idea. Sometimes, this actually ends in teenage pregnancy if they can convince a guy to go along with them. I’ve heard of a few cases like this.Hopefully, you can actually stop your daughter from getting to the stage where she goes ahead with this. What you need to do is nip her idealistic super-cute baby fantasies in the bud right quick. Please don’t delay, baby fever can be an incredibly potent force, but oftentimes, people who have sudden momentary urges to procreate regret giving into them. Tell her if she wants a baby, she should have real life experience with an actual baby. Then, you should find someone with a baby so she can practice being a parent for a little while (while you and said parent watch from a distance in case something goes wrong).She’ll probably realise quickly that babies do pretty disgusting things, like have huge poop explosions, wet their nappies, spit up, and the reality is it won’t all be cute cuddle times. She’ll also get to experience the wails of real-life baby, and how hard it can be to quiet the baby and figure out what it wants. Bonus points round: make her hang out with her friends at the mall with the baby, or have her take the baby out to eat. If you give her enough experience with an actual baby instead of a fake one, I think that would burst her fantasy like a balloon. We all have some silly and unrealistic fantasies and dreams now and then that suck in real life for some or even many reasons.

I'm assuming by hang out you mean date , or is it a case of “just friends” ? Either way it's pretty much the same . You are just going to have to tell her ,like most things in life it's easier if you just say it. And when you do ask her , carefully think through what you want to say . Arguments comparing yourself to your friend never work .let your mom set boundaries for you and this guy and then compromise with her . Your mom might give rules like :Stay in public spacesYour curfew is 7 in the eveningHis mom should be at home when you are there together (same goes for your house ) .Break these rules and you break my trust .Or at least this is something like my mom would say also saying “don't you trust me ?” Also doesn't work and please don't lie to your mom saying you are just friends when you aren't and her finding out is just going to make her lose trust in you.
