It would reduce patient’s trust in medical professionals, and this generally results in worse outcomes. So, this sort of demand from Police - if doctors and nurses acquiesced - could lead to harm or even deaths. So I think the nurse in question made absolutely the right decision, and it is terrible that they were arrested for it. They should be allowed to strip the officers concerned naked, handcuff their wrists to their ankles, give them a pepperspray enema, then taser them right on their ballsacks. In public.It is possible to give a blood transfusion (a successful one, even!) without knowing the recipient’s blood type. O- (O negative) donor blood can be given to almost any person without risk of a transfusion reaction.
