How long would it take for San Francisco to run out of water?
Simple answer --- When they run out of money. Water is abundant both as bay salt-water and as rain water around the bay area mountains. San Francisco has plenty water. City population should remain stagnate inside the city limits for a long time as they are land locked by self-imposed limitations. How can I fill out Google's intern host matching form to optimize my chances of receiving a match?
I was selected for a summer internship 2016.I tried to be very open while filling the preference form: I choose many products as my favorite products and I said I'm open about the team I want to join.I even was very open in the location and start date to get host matching interviews (I negotiated the start date in the interview until both me and my host were happy.) You could ask your recruiter to review your form (there are very cool and could help you a lot since they have a bigger experience).Do a search on the potential team. Before the interviews, try to find smart question that you are going to ask for the potential host (do a search on the team to find nice and deep questions to impress your host). Prepare well your resume. You are very likely not going to get algorithm/data structure questions like in the first round. It's going to be just some friendly chat if you are lucky. If your potential team is working on something like machine learning, expect that they are going to ask you questions about machine learning, courses related to machine learning you have and relevant experience (projects, internship). Of course you have to study that before the interview. Take as long time as you need if you feel rusty. It takes some time to get ready for the host matching (it's less than the technical interview) but it's worth it of course.

I'm moving to San Francisco from out of the US. How do I build credit?
I wouldn't recommend applying for a lot of things right away, each "hard" inquiry to your credit (when you're applying for some sort of credit such as insurance, loan, etc) deducts a small amount. To start out I would either start out with a high limit secured credit card, or a decent sized regular credit card. Make sure you use it but try not to exceed 10% of the limit. You want it to be active, but not over-used. If you use a regular credit card, set up automatic bill payment from your bank account so you never miss a payment. Even if it's at 0, the automatic bill payment will send them a payment so you'd actually have a negative balance on your card (they owe you money!) A friend of mine did this and one day he got a very high limit credit card in the mail and a check from the credit card company! Once you have decent credit scores (650+) I'd apply for an installment loan for $1000-2500. It is good to have different types of debt on your credit history. Since a credit card is revolving debt, you want to have an installment loan so creditors will see you can responsibly manage different accounts. You can get a personal loan from a bank, or something else like a loan from a jewelry store. When your credit scores signNow 720+, you're in the green. You can now easily get an auto loan, mortgage (if you have the rest of the requirements such as 2 years of good income, 80% LTV, etc...that's a topic for another quora question), and other types of credit accounts. Touching on what Simon said (no pun intended), length of credit history is an important factor. They use a mean average of the length of the accounts to calculate this. Since I opened my first credit card 4 years ago, and another last year, my average account length is 2.5 years. I haven't had any installment loans yet but I plan on opening an auto loan very soon, all 3 of my credit scores are above 720. Only 4 months ago my scores were in the low 600's, but I proactively have been paying off all my debts (mostly medical bills) and restored my credit. I can't stress enough that you should NEVER allow any of your bills to go to collections. It took over a year to pay everything off because collection agencies charge outrageous fees. So letting something go to collections affects your credit AND your wallet.

When and how did you realize you need to move out of San Francisco?
In terms of physical requirements, the noice and lack of space was a big deal after a few years. I loved being in the center of everything, walking to work, and walking to restaurants for dinner, but after a few years of that I yearned for more balance.I wanted to have my own space without roommates. I wanted a quieter neighborhood, and believe it or not, I wanted to be a bit further from the office. My GF at the time and I decided on Berkeley as a good middle ground. We loved our time living there, and found it had a much better balance between peaceful neighborhoods, and access to nightlife both in Berkeley and in Oakland. The only downside was the BART commute, which did get tiresome after a while. Mostly due to delays, or when the train would get stuck in a tunnel and you have no choice but to sit, and sit, and sit.Another factor besides noise and space concerns, was culture. SF was pretty cool for a while, but as more and more VC money was flowing and more tech companies were hiring, it became a sea of copy-cat tech clones. I say this as a tech worker myself. I moved to SF to further my career because where I was from there wasn’t much in the way of other computer scientists, but I never dreamed I would be so annoyed by non-stop tech culture. You can’t even go out to a bar and escape it. There are tech hoodies and chrome bags everywhere. Everyone talks about work, work, work. How they are “crushing it.” What about everything else life has to offer? What about artists and artisans? What about music and dance? What about cooking? I’m sorry, but it is not my dream to stay glued to a chair and drink Soylent (yes its real) and write code 20 hours a day. I had to get out!
