What is the most embarrassing thing you have done while under the influence of alcohol or drugs?
Wow... A lot to choose from. I'll go with one that I don't often share with people though. At least, I don't share the ENTIRE story with everyone.Shortly after getting out of the army I was really out of control. This was a point when I was still denying that I had a problem, still had some money and was still being prescribed hundreds of oxycontins (the real ones) and oxycodones every month. And I was partying and going nuts because if I wasn't high, not only did I hurt physically but, reality caught up to me quickly. One day I was house sitting for my parents when they were out of town. I called and asked if I could BBQ and have a couple friends over. Sure, no problem.Well, I slammed a couple beers, railed a few oxycontins, slammed some more beers, railed some more oxycontins and don't remember the rest of the night. My friends filled me in the next day.I punched out one of the windows in the house for no apparent reason. I hit on my friends little sister. I started body slamming people for fun and when several of my friends decided it may be a good idea to just knock me out for the rest of the night, for my safety and everyone elses, they forgot to take into account that I just got out of the army and was still in great shape and all the extra training I had in hand to hand stuff because of who I worked with. And the fact I was on so much painkillers that I was not feeling any pain. So eventually they stopped and just left me alone. Then I got the guns out. I shot all kinds of things in the back yard and back field. Thankfully, my parents live way out in the country surrounded by woods. But, I shot in half several trees. Shot holes in some decorative things. Shot the legs off a swing set. It's fortunate that I didn't hurt or kill anyone.I also smashed several pictures in the house. I'm sure that's from some deep seeded resentment somewhere. I don't know.I then got naked and ran around the house, or rather crawled I guess and tried to hump everything. Everything from the floor to the doors.Of all of that, I only remember drinking a beer at the beginning of the night and railing a couple oxycontins. The next thing I remember was what embarrassed me the most until I heard the rest of the stories years later. I woke up face down on the kitchen floor in one of the largest piles of vomit I've ever seen and an even larger pile of diarrhea all over the kitchen floor.I crawled to the bathtub, hungover and still a little drunk and ran a bath and laid in my own filth. Then I heard the voice of a girl I'd had a crush on since kindergarten. She had heard what happened and stopped by to check on me. Yeah, she saw the kitchen. Then me in the tub in my own filth. No blaming the dog there. I deserved every bit of shame I felt. Many may see that incident as a wake up call. Nope. I saw it as one more thing to burry. I just lost control is all. Just need to limit myself a little better. Cut back on the alcohol. Even my friends begging me to get help didn't do it.Help for what? I didn't have a problem....Hindsight is 20/20 as they say. I can tell these stories now in hopes that others may read them and avoid my mistakes. Learn from them.Hope everyone is doing well! Take care!

How do I get into DRDO/ISRO/BARC? (view details)
I can talk about ISRO recruitment. For those who have BE/BTech in ECE, CSE and ME ISRO conducts an annual recruitment (not necessarily annual, though) called ICRB exam. For this year(2016) last date for applying just passed. Notification will be issued in ISRO website as well as in all major news papers. You can apply online and pay a fee of Rs 100 (and free for female candidates). For other branches ISRO recruits based on requirement, but usually in lesser numbers. Procedure will be the same though.Minimum marks usually asked is 65% or equivalent CGPA(6.85 this time). The syllabus for written test is same as GATE and previous year papers are available in ISRO website. Candidates who qualify the exam will be sent a notification to attend the interview, for which ISRO will bear the travel expenses. Your certificates will be verified just before you go in for the interview. If you are selected after the interview, you will be sent an appointment order in which your location of posting will be mentioned. There will be also a lot of forms to fill, which is basically writing an auto biography. You will also be given information about medical test, clearing which you can join ISRO on probation. You will be assigned to a division/project. Meanwhile different state and central agencies of all colors will be doing detailed investigations to verify your background. If nothing sticks out your probation will be lifted and you will become a permanent employee. For ME/MTech procedure is similar except they don’t have a written exam. ISRO has another option after your +2/PUC. You can join IIST(Indian Institute of Space Technology). They will pay for your studies and if you graduate with a qualifying CGPA then you will be offered a position. All the best.

How does one get invited to the Quora Partner Program? What criteria do they use, or is it completely random?
I live in Germany. I got an invite to the Quora partner program the day I landed in USA for a business trip. So from what I understand, irrespective of the number of views on your answers, there is some additional eligibility criteria for you to even get an email invite. If you read the terms of service, point 1 states:Eligibility. You must be located in the United States to participate in this Program. If you are a Quora employee, you are eligible to participate and earn up to a maximum of $200 USD a month. You also agree to be bound by the Platform Terms (https://www.quora.com/about/tos) as a condition of participation.Again, if you check the FAQ section:How can other people I know .participate? The program is invite-only at this time, but we intend to open it up to more people as time goes on.So my guess is that Quora is currently targeting people based out of USA, who are active on Quora, may or may not be answering questions frequently ( I have not answered questions frequently in the past year or so) and have a certain number of consistent answer views.Edit 1: Thanks to @Anita Scotch, I got to know that the Quora partner program is now available for other countries too. Copying Anuta’s comment here:If you reside in one of the Countries, The Quora Partner Program is active in, you are eligible to participate in the program.” ( I read more will be added, at some point, but here are the countries, currently eligible at this writing,) U.S., Japan, Germany, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Italy and Australia.11/14/2018Edit 2 : Here is the latest list of countries with 3 new additions eligible for the Quora Partner program:U.S., Japan, Germany, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Australia, Indonesia, India and Brazil. Thanks to Monoswita Rez for informing me about this update.

What is one remarkable thing you've witnessed at a funeral?
Honestly, this will sound so strange to you, but my dad’s funeral was really ‘remarkable’.Bit of backstory- My dad was very much anti-religion, not anti-god per say just the organised religion part of it… I never asked why, considering his mother was a catholic for most her life I figured my dad had his reasons. So immediately after his first heart attack he told each of us ‘kids’ (11, 12, 22 & 23 ish, cant remember exact ages) that he expected to be cremated, that it was NOT to be held in a church and ‘dont waste money on bullshit coz I’m going to be ashes anyway.’ (referring to expensive coffins, suits, flowers etc)Years past, as well as two more heart attacks; we had a few jokes and laughs about what songs and things he would want played at his funeral, what photos were to never see the light of day, organ donation if viable etc.Dad passed away on October 31st 2010, when I was 19 and a mum to a 6month old baby, while the initial shock was still being processed the joke did go around that only my dad would pass away on the day the dead were meant to come to us.Then came time to plan the funeral…. first off props off to the officiant coz man were we so off the beaten track…So seeing that my dad was a heavy drinker (possibly classed as an alcoholic but he rarely had the alcohol change the way he interacted with us kids, the only exception was someone else would prob have to drive home), and we were explicitly told not to waste money on flowers…. we made flowers out of beer cans and carton boxes, with pictures of him in the centre. My brother, my partner and my BILs all decided to wear dark jeans, bonds singlets and a flannette shirt to honour my dad who also demanded that none of us wear suits, and that was his ‘i’m not allowed to wear shorts, thongs and a singlet’ attire. My sisters made sure to wear something of colour, but i wore a black t-shirt and black pants (which was a fight with my mother about because apparently i was supposed to wear a skirt but just no.).Then came to the funeral…. we expected maybe like 50 to 100 people to turn up, mainly coz a lot of the older friends he hadn't seen in years (half of which didnt know my lil bro and I existed due to the age gap- despite us having the same parents) lived on the coast about 5 hours away despite us making sure we contacted as many people as we could… 350 people easily turned up, the lil funeral home had to dig out PA speakers and plant them outside coz not everyone could fit inside. So as we are walking in, the celtic version of the ‘sons of anarchy’ theme song played as we got to our seats and settled in- my dad was a biker not affiliated with any gang but loved that show. We do our pieces, making people laugh as we remembered our dad, then the reflection song…. ‘Born to be wild’. I kid you not…A couple of more pieces done, the lords prayer chucked in for Nan as the only religious element in the ceremony.then comes time that we lay, what is usually petals but in our case gum leaves and gum nuts, onto the casket and walk out- the local crematorium was over an hour away so instead of us following the car were were leaving the body with the funeral home until the next day when the crematorium was ready to accept him (he had received chemo shortly before he died so there had to be a couple of extra precautions made to protect everyone involved.) All this done to the song of… wait for it….. I’M TOO SEXY FOR MY SHIRT- the song my dad always said he wanted played at his funeral- he asked we delivered.During the wake, as I was going around introducing myself (my mother and sisters were way to much of a wreck and Nan just wanted to sit by her sisters, nieces and nephews,) while also trying to figure what what ridiculous nickname my father gave these poor people eg wombat, turd, fluffy (to the 6ft built like a brickhouse mountain man!) so i could figure out how my father knew them, i was repeatedly told a variation of two things- one ‘that funeral was very much your father’ and two ‘is it wrong to say i enjoyed that funeral?’Even the officiant later came by and apologised because ‘that was the most fun I had ever had at a funeral, and it feels wrong to say that’.

If I’m on felony probation and have house visitations, would I have to fill out papers to change probation officers?
More details would be helpful to give you an intelligent answer. But in general, you must have a really good reason before a supervisor will reassign your case to another PO. If you feel you have a good reason you will probably have to put it in writing, that is what our department of corrections office required. Somewhere in your paperwork it should give you information on what your rights are, and what your appellate rights would be, and how to exercise them.Offenders did not usually get to pick and choose who they want for a PO. So good luck.
