How do I make a good lesson plan?
Here are a few steps to walk you through the process of creating a successful lesson plan.Step 1. Create an outline of the curriculum you want to coverThis is basically how you begin. Learn about what you are going to teach and how deep your subjects are. This will give you an overall idea about how big your task is.Step 2. Create a list of desired outcomesOf course you can’t create a plan without targets. Desired outcomes and objective are your targets. Also, Outcome Based Education (OBE) is the buzzword these days. Every university and education board are moving more and more towards OBE. So creating a list of desired outcomes and objectives might help you align with the objectives of your university/board.While deciding the outcomes, keep these questions in your mind. What is the topic of the lesson? What do I want students to learn? What do I want them to understand and be able to do at the end of class? What do I want them to take away from this particular lesson?Step 3. Make another outline of the time — year/semester.Having an idea about the time frame can help you plan better. The effectiveness of your plan depends on intelligently distributing the curriculum across the year/semester.Step 4. Break curriculum down into small manageable piecesThis could improve your productivity. Small tasks would seem easy job and will get you through doing a lot more than within short time. This could keep you from procrastinating and help you maintain a better control over the curriculum.Step 5. Take time to decide which takes what timeAnalyse the importance of each modules and decide how much hours you want to spend on each topics. Also decide which parts can be skipped or omitted if you are pressed by time. And conversely, which topics you can expand on if things moved faster than expected. You can have a better authority over the time if you know how much time you need beforehand.Step 6. Spread them across the timelineSpread the curriculum across the timeline accordingly. This one is totally your call and you shall decide how much you are going to cover within a given period of time. You could also collaborate with other faculties to have better inputs and fresh perspectives.Step 7. Gather teaching materials and supporting dataBesides the usual teaching materials, planning gives you time to gather enough data and resources to support your teaching. You could make use of books and documents from outside the curriculum and new technologies to assist your instruction. Techniques like flipped learning and making use of technologies like Academic Management Systems can help you here.Step 8. Decide on how you are going to share course materials with studentsThe interactions you have with your students are really important. You could save a lot of time and optimise the efficiency by implementing ICT enabled education to share course materials and other important documents. And like we mentioned before, Academic Management Systems can be of great help to you.Step 9. Decide how you are going to assess students , exams, assignments, projects, tasks etc.Deciding the assessment mechanisms and evaluations beforehand can be of great help. The way you assess will have an overall impact on the teaching, and it gives you valuable insights on the course progress. But to be prepared and to be able to effectively map your outcomes to the curriculum, you might need to focus on the evaluation techniques even before you begin the semester. This is a exert from our blog on planning and strategies in education where we explore this topic in detail. Our blog talks about the importance, steps involved, how to assess your lesson plan and the flexibility factor. Be sure to check it out.

Do military members have to pay any fee for leave or fiancee forms?
NOOOOOOO. You are talking to a military romance scammer. I received an email from the US Army that directly answers your question that is pasted below please keep reading.I believe you are the victim of a military Romance Scam whereas the person you are talking to is a foreign national posing as an American Soldier claiming to be stationed overseas on a peacekeeping mission. That's the key to the scam they always claim to be on a peacekeeping mission.Part of their scam is saying that they have no access to their money that their mission is highly dangerous. If your boyfriend girlfriend/future husband/wife is asking you to do the following or has exhibited this behavior, it is a most likely a scam:Moves to private messaging site immediately after meeting you on Facebook or SnapChat or Instagram or some dating or social media site. Often times they delete the site you met them on right after they asked you to move to a more private messaging siteProfesses love to you very quickly & seems to quote poems and song lyrics along with using their own sort of broken language, as they profess their love and devotion quickly. They also showed concern for your health and love for your family.Promises marriage as soon as he/she gets to state for leave that they asked you to pay for. They Requests money (wire transfers) and Amazon, iTune ,Verizon, etc gift cards, for medicine, religious practices, and leaves to come home, internet access, complete job assignments, help sick friend, get him out of trouble, or anything that sounds fishy. The military does provide all the soldier needs including food medical Care and transportation for leave. Trust me, I lived it, you are probably being scammed. I am just trying to show you examples that you are most likely being connned.Below is an email response I received after I sent an inquiry to the US government when I discovered I was scammed. I received this wonderful response back with lots of useful links on how to find and report your scammer. And how to learn more about Romance Scams.Right now you can also copy the picture he gave you and do a google image search and you will hopefully see the pictures of the real person he is impersonating. this doesn't always work and take some digging. if you find the real person you can direct message them and alert them that their image is being used for scamming.Good Luck to you and I'm sorry this may be happening to you. please continue reading the government response I received below it's very informative. You have contacted an email that is monitored by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command. Unfortunately, this is a common concern. We assure you there is never any reason to send money to anyone claiming to be a Soldier online. If you have only spoken with this person online, it is likely they are not a U.S. Soldier at all. If this is a suspected imposter social media profile, we urge you to report it to that platform as soon as possible. Why don't schools teach children about taxes and bills and things that they will definitely need to know as adults to get by in life?
Departments of education and school districts always have to make decisions about what to include in their curriculum. There are a lot of life skills that people need that aren't taught in school. The question is should those skills be taught in schools?I teach high school, so I'll talk about that. The typical high school curriculum is supposed to give students a broad-based education that prepares them to be citizens in a democracy and to be able to think critically. For a democracy to work, we need educated, discerning citizens with the ability to make good decisions based on evidence and objective thought. In theory, people who are well informed about history, culture, science, mathematics, etc., and are capable of critical, unbiased thinking, will have the tools to participate in a democracy and make good decisions for themselves and for society at large. In addition to that, they should be learning how to be learners, how to do effective, basic research, and collaborate with other people. If that happens, figuring out how to do procedural tasks in real life should not provide much of a challenge. We can't possibly teach every necessary life skill people need, but we can help students become better at knowing how to acquire the skills they need. Should we teach them how to change a tire when they can easily consult a book or search the internet to find step by step instructions for that? Should we teach them how to balance a check book or teach them how to think mathematically and make sense of problems so that the simple task of balancing a check book (which requires simple arithmetic and the ability to enter numbers and words in columns and rows in obvious ways) is easy for them to figure out. If we teach them to be good at critical thinking and have some problem solving skills they will be able to apply those overarching skills to all sorts of every day tasks that shouldn't be difficult for someone with decent cognitive ability to figure out. It's analogous to asking why a culinary school didn't teach its students the steps and ingredients to a specific recipe. The school taught them about more general food preparation and food science skills so that they can figure out how to make a lot of specific recipes without much trouble. They're also able to create their own recipes. So, do we want citizens with very specific skill sets that they need to get through day to day life or do we want citizens with critical thinking, problem solving, and other overarching cognitive skills that will allow them to easily acquire ANY simple, procedural skill they may come to need at any point in their lives?

"I can't believe I [blank] to get a guy's attention." How would you fill in the blank? What's the craziest or most desperate thing you've done to get a guy's attention?
Edit as of April 25th, 2018:It’s too embarrassing to recall some of the things that I’ve done; suffice it to say that it has been “stranger than fiction”. :) If you haven’t seen that film, you should go see it! Great one! Here’s a clip:Originally answered on January 21st, 2014:Acted aloof and above it all to try to get a guy's attention.I used to turn up my nose, walk swiftly away, make, "ugh" noises under my breath and roll my eyes whenever around a certain crush of mine.I was the only audience to this little drama, I'm sure. He couldn't care less what I was doing; I think he went through three or four girlfriends during my whole, "look at me, but don't because I'm so not looking at you" phase. However, I was somewhat amused at myself and kept doing the behavior, even though I knew it:A) wasn't workingB) was immatureC) made me feel like a pratD) had me walking five times more around the school than I needed to(though, I got some exercise with D).A part of me acted this way because I was actually afraid of starting any relationship. I had a very strict schedule that I had to follow (lots of studying and outside of school lessons for piano and singing and tons of sports’ camps and training and practices…etc). I knew that if I even attempted to date someone, I would end up heartbroken because he would dump me for not having any time.I was scared of getting physical. I didn’t want to admit to anyone that I really did not want to do anything beyond kissing.I had a goal that I would not do anything with a guy before marriage.I figured that if I even started to date someone, he would corrupt this ideal and I would not be able to maintain my resolve. So, in effect, I decided to block any dates myself before I made a fool of myself (in my own eyes).

How do lesson plans help teachers?
There are so many great resources out there. If you’re looking for specific lessons then Google ‘great lessons on (fill in the blank here)’. A great model to use is the Station Rotation Model. If you’re looking to design a great lesson on your own then there is definitely a formula.First start with what you want your students to learn or be able to do. Always begin your goal with a verb like describe, identify, evaluate. Introduce this learning goal to the class at the beginning of the lesson.Next design 1–2 activities that students will use to get the information, practice the skill or engage with higher level thinking skills. When planning these lessons you should decided if you want students to work individually, in small groups or as a whole class. I think a combination of all three during most class periods provides a great balance for student learning. This is also the time to decide if you want to use technology in part or throughout the class period. (If you’re looking to start incorporating technology into your classroom K12Inspire will be launching new courses this spring that will cover how to do so easily.)After designing the lesson activities revisit the goal for the class period by asking students a summarizing question or dipsticking whether they believe they achieved the goal. This could be a simple ‘thumbs up or down’ or an anonymous comment on a note card or a quick exit ticket using Google Forms or Survey Monkey. Taking note of whether students have ‘gotten’ the information will allow you to tailor subsequent lessons to their needs.
