UPDATE:Recently SMS providers have begun offering a service where they will "text enable" either a landline or toll-free number, thus making it the functional equivalent of a short code. There are limitations to the speed of the message delivery but they will be irrelevant in this application (only a few messages per second as opposed to 100+/second on a short code).This will satisfy the requirement originally expressed in this question. We can text-enable any landline or toll-free number in a matter of days and get the entire process set up for a fraction of what it would cost for a short code setup.)------ Original answer below ------This is a legitimate application and a very creative way to handle your communications but unfortunately what you wish to do is illegal.  This is referred to as "spoofing" and is viewed as a fraudulent use of telephone services. There are other ways to accomplish your goal of having your techs send a message from a uniform, consistent number but before getting to them, few points:First of all, sending a text message with the caller ID (the phone number) shown as your office number is problematic because if the customer tries to reply to the message they will not be able to and will receive an error in return. This could be confusing to them.Next, If the cell phone carriers found out that you had actually done this not only would they almost certainly cut off your service it is entirely likely that a hefty fine would be imposed as well. (We have documented evidence from several of our customers that the carriers do, in fact, impose these fines – and collect them.)Finally, there may be companies that are willing to provide you with a service that allows you to circumvent certain processes and spoof these numbers. I recommend strongly against using them as they are simply conduits to helping you break the law.A simple solution – although not exactly what you are looking for – would be for your techs to send a text to a short code where the message is displayed to a dispatcher of sorts at your facility. When the dispatcher receives the message they can, in turn, send a text to the customer from that short code which would be identifiable as your company. This can easily be done with a "long code" as well which could be a dedicated number for your company.  Unlike dedicated short codes these dedicated long codes are cheap and easy to implement.  None, however will be the same as your office phone number.(Full disclosure: my company, TextPower, provides a service that does exactly this. I am not proposing that service here but merely trying to answer your question.) The world of messaging via short and long codes and all of the carrier regulations and requirements can be confusing. Verdict: Like many other direct sales and MLM companies, Roman and Fields is \u2013 in my opinion \u2013 not worth the investment or effort.
