hi this is Dr Michael Rosenbloom I'm a professor of Dermatology at the University of California San Francisco I'm extremely honored to be currently funded by the American partnership for eosinophilic disorders um this funding is allowing us to continue our work looking at how specific types of immune responses including those that draw eosinophils into tissues are established and maintained um we recently discovered that there are certain types of cells that make up the the tissues such as the skin the lung and the gut and these cells were actually previously unidentified until we were able to I to characterize them and essentially discover them in their function what we discovered is these cells are present in tissues and just lay there quiescent until there's some inflammation in the tissue and then these cells become awakened and start secreting factors that draw eosinophils and other cells that comprise the comprise type 2 immune responses into skin we specifically studied skin uh
