my name is Galen Lusk I'm with Western genetics and I'm a veterinarian but I specialize in embryo transfer it takes about 16 days from the time we started getting the animal ready until the day I show up and the procedure done today is the 16th day the animals have been super ovulated with follicle stimulating hormone and so when we take the frozen embryos out of the tank we air thaw them for about five seconds then they go into this warm water bath for about 20 seconds and then we pull them out dry off the straw load them up in the guns and then implant them directly so it's a quick procedure and they seem to survive very very well it's not difficult takes a little time a little patience but it's a non-surgical it's all done under an epidural that the donor cow is given and so she doesn't feel anything she doesn't resist and so that makes it easier on the cow as well as the the technician is doing the work [Music] you
