While at UCF you may experience significant circumstances that prevent you from successfully completing a semester. As a result of these circumstances, you may be eligible to submit a Late Drop, Medical Withdrawal, or Late Withdraw petition to drop or withdraw from a course beyond the regular drop and withdrawal deadlines. Let’s explore these three options and the potential relief they may provide. The first option, a Late Drop petition, allows you to request courses be dropped from your schedule after the Drop/Swap deadline. You should submit a Late Drop petition to address a documented administrative error by the university, an involuntary call to active military duty, or the death of an immediate family member. That immediate family member could include a parent, grandparent, child, sibling or spouse. Late Drop petitions must be submitted within six months of the end of the term being evaluated.
