My favorite Apple Watch apps are the following:Email:In fact, one reason I love smartwatches generally is it saves me a lot of time because I can immediately see which emails are coming in on my wrist and therefore need only open email on my phone/laptop when it’s necessary. This is huge for me with my work.Calendar:I really like the Apple S2 calendar interface with 3 viewing options. It’s very user friendly and I can quickly determine what events/meetings I have for the day without opening my calendar.Step tracking:This is more for interest sake than anything, although I’ve noticed occasions where I’ll walk more just because it helps hit my steps goal. While not a big deal per day, it’s very good in the long run.Maps:Apple S2 knocked it out of the park with its map app. It’s a full blown GPS system which I can use to find nearby shopping, restaurants, coffee shops and much more. It’s super easy to use, relatively fast and when needed, a real bonus.FYI, 3 of the 4 apps I like and use the most are on most smartwatches so it’s not unique with exception of the maps app. Apple’s map app is the best I’ve used (although I have yet to try the Garmin fenix 3 and soon-to-be-released fenix 5).

Yes, my wife does.She used to use Windows 7 on an old-ish laptop. When the upgrade to Windows 10 came, the laptop for some reason was not really able to handle it, opening the start menu took in the order of 10 seconds, so she reverted back to Windows 7. However, the laptop was not as ‘snappy’ as it used to be and she wanted to maybe buy a new one. The thing is, she didn’t really ‘want’ a new computer, as she doesn’t care about computers that much.Also, her workflow deals with taking pictures, doing very light editing on a large amount of them (cropping, resizing, rotating) and uploading them. Also some casual browsing, creating some documents, etc. I suggested I could install a Linux for her to see if the computer would become snappier (sure it would).I said that she should choose based on looks, as everything else wouldn’t matter to her anyway. She chose Elementary OS.She had a mixed experience with it. On one hand she loved how I wrote a quick imagemagick script for all her photo processing. She used to do that by hand on Windows, she never got round to exploring software options to do batch processing. She also loved xournal to add text to pdfs that wouldn’t support that out of the box. She had a few forms to fill that came like that.On the other hand, she wanted to have icons on the Desktop. And she hated the ‘single click opens folder/file’ file browser that Elementary comes with. I hated that it’s not straightforward to run an executable shell script from the file browser. So I felt like we had to fight the system a bit.Then the hdd died, so I had to reinstall the computer anyway. I chose to install Ubuntu Budgie for her. You can configure it to have a similar Mac-ish look as in Elementary, yet the DE is less opinionated about how one should use one’s computer. I haven’t heard from her in months. About the computer or how to use it, that is.Not her desktop, but very similar.The funny part is, my laptop runs Windows. Not because I like it, I do all development in Linux VMs on it, but I sometimes need to use MS Office to write documentation (requirement by the employer), and I sometimes need to test software on Windows. I’ve never gotten round to switching that laptop to Linux, as long as Windows doesn’t actively inhibit my work, I don’t care about it much.

Seems the traditional way to capture data from a form is to feed it into a Google spreadsheet. Given most mail merge operations work off of a list, this seems a sensible approach.I could not see an automated way of outputting completed forms as PDF printouts, this only seems to be available within the browser.Whilst there are multiple addons now available for forms, I could not yet see much that provides workflow.Thus, I think you will need to use some app scripting at the Google spreadsheet end triggered by new entries. This can merge new data with an appropriate document template, and email it out.I Googled, naturally to see if someone had done something like this already. A good number of hits to explore. The closest I found was: Merge info from Google Forms to PDF Document and Send via EmailHopefully someone with more experience (well, any experience) of Google Forms will come along and provide you with a better answer.

Trust me, I lived it, you are probably being scammed. I haven’t done much real life programming as I am still a high school student. However one of the things that surprised me when trying to do software development is that you don’t have to get the quickest way to solve a problem, but to use the most maintainable way.Having done competitive programming (and not much any other kind of programming) a lot, I was excited and rushed to have my first Node.js web server running. I didn’t care much about my coding style and pretty much just shoved any solution that comes to my mind the most efficient one, and eventually end up in a good-working server anyway. However time passed and (not so surprisingly) I had no way to debug the code when the first runtime error comes. That was my first lesson in software development: The maintenance cost will get exponentially larger than the development cost, if development was not done correctly.That is 180-degree different from Competitive Programming: In a TopCoder round you are given 75 minutes to solve 3 problems - no real life software development process require such timing. The problems are usually heavy in thinking (finding a viable solution that runs in the required time and memory limits) and much less heavy in implementation. It is more of a 100m race than software development which I feel like a Marathon. PLUS after the contest ends your code goes into history - never to be run again.
