There are other authors and series out there that are often enjoyed by those who love Pratchett, but you'll probably get on with them best if you disabuse yourself of any notion that they'll be like Pratchett. He never writes sequels, though, so no recurring cast of characters to get attached to.Douglas Adams wrote comic SF - the Hitchhiker's series and the Dirk Gently series - unfortunately he wrote it very slowly so there isn't a huge amount of it.Neil Gaiman doesn't really write like Pratchett (except when they wrote together in Good Omens) but they share a similar worldview and sensibility.Robert Asprin's Myth series had some of the punning nature of early Pratchett. I enjoyed it in my early teens but, to be honest, a little goes a very long way. There isn't any of the more interesting undertone of Pratchett.Robert Rankin is top of many people's alt-Pratchett lists. I have never really got on with Rankin but I think that's more my fault than his.Christopher Moore writes modern comic fantasy. I think his ideas and plot are better than his characterisation.The lighter bits of Connie Willis, perhaps?
