My ex husband refused to participate in the divorce, even though we had agreed to do it.I’m uncertain how all states work, but in California I was able to get the divorce without him. I was the Petitioner and he was the Respondent. He had 30 days to respond, which he didn’t. I continued with the filings and forms, following all legal steps. By law, he received copies of every form.Eventually after several months of being non responsive, he was served a Notice of Default. He didn’t respond to that either. At that point, he had defaulted out of the entire process.The court order and judgements were based on all the information I provided. Fortunately for my ex, I didn’t screw him over.However, as I was the only one in court, the judge saw through all of the bs and awarded me more than I asked for. Not that I’ve seen a dime, but it was very rewarding taking control of my life and knowing that my ex could not hold me back. His anger, avoidance, and temper tantrums had zero bearing on the legal process.I just kept moving forward, one step at a time. I got stronger and stronger as I went along.Also, being in Los Angeles County, I happen to stumble upon FREE legal services provided by the state. My divorce only cost me filing fees, parking and time. Truly a gift. And, the judge complimented me on how accurate and complete my documentation was.My first step was googling “how to file for divorce”. I found a YouTube channel that literally showed how to fill out the Petition for Divorce. All of the forms can be found online and are downloadable.That was the starting point for me. From there, resources began to show up.Since your ex is with another woman, I would move fast, hire an attorney if you can financially and get sound advice. Don’t settle for any crap. You’re on your own at this point and it’s necessary that you stand firm in your own personal value. The only person you need to take care of is YOU. You can do that morally and ethically. Take emotion out of it, and make sure that you and your son are taken care of. He has the option to do the same.Lead the way! You can and will do this. Time to get started.

I came across a loophole in the library where I studied by pure accident. I used to go there to study and to also print out the lecture notes which were on average 40 pages long and the print was .10$ for each page. So basically i paid 4$ for each lecture i printed. This was a costly exercise for me and i spent on average 30$ each week for printing.The way it worked was, I had a library card and I recharged it as needed using the recharge machine. The recharge machine was about 5 feet tall and 2 feet wide. You had to insert the card, it would read it and then prompt you to insert the cash you wanted to recharge. Once that was done, you went to the print station, swiped your card on the card reader and then selected your file to print. Pretty basic stuff.One day I gave a few print jobs to the printer and went to the print station and swiped my card. I had to print 2 files of around 30 pages each. I had a credit of 3.70$ on my card. So I decided to print one file and then proceeded to the signNowarge machine to recharge the card while my file was printing. Keep in mind that the recharge machine and the print station were next to each other. Since my file was printing, I inserted my card into the recharge machine, it read my card and gave an error saying that the card is locked. I realized immediately that my card is currently being used by the printer and thus I am unable to use the card at 2 places at once. So I waited for the print to complete and then recharged my card to a value of 5$. So keep in mind I had 3.70$ initially, I printed 30 Pages, My credit should have dropped to .70$ and then recharged 5$ bringing the total to 5.70$. I did all the maths myself before proceeding to the print station and swiping my card. As I swiped my card, it showed me the current balance as 8.70$ instead of 5.70$ meaning I was not charged for the 30 pages i just printed. I quickly noticed and realized the error i got on the recharge machine while printing. I had another job to print, I gave the command to print and again inserted my card into the recharge machine and got the same error as card is currently blocked. I checked and was not charged again. And thats how I have been printing for a while now and my current balance is still 8.70$.I will notify the library eventually of the error and donate a certain amount. But for now, I am a student and its hard to make ends meet.

This is what my son and I did when he wanted to live independently, but couldn't really afford to live out on his own.I live on the west coast of Canada. Could he please move back home into his room?I rented a truck, about 3 hours was all I could get at that late date, and we moved him home.It turned out he was having trouble with having a consistent income with the minimum wage jobs he was qualified for at the time.He moved into his childhood room, which is tiny, and my living room became a storage room for the rest of his things. (I have a tenant paying market rent in a one bedroom suite in my basement. It pays the mortgage.)Not long after, we moved him into the master bedroom, which has an ensuite (master bath), and all his things moved from the living room into his room, which is very large.Next, he filled out a provincial government landlord tenant form, and began paying $200 each month.I put a full size fridge and microwave in his room. He did his own grocery shopping, and cooking. He did his own cleaning and laundry. We didn't share a bathroom, so that removed a source of friction.I certainly did not worry about the cleanliness of his room. That's what doors are for, although it turned out he cleaned more regularly than I did.I did not enter his room without permission or proper notice, as per the Landlord Tenant Act.I had already taken him grocery shopping a few times to show him how to shop and cook on a budget.I hired someone else to cut the lawn. My son had no time, and I didn't want to be arguing with him about chores.He was no longer a child. I had my chance raising him. That period of both our lives was over. He was trying his best to be an independent adult in a difficult financial climate, so I treated him like an adult. I also treated him like any other tenant I've had.My thinking was if I wouldn't say it to my tenant downstairs, I didn't say it to him.All of this meant that our only interaction was social, so we became good friends.It worked a treat. We get along great now.Your son is trying to be an adult, taking small steps. Let him. Make him a tenant, and treat him like any other tenant.Charge him $200 a month, which is low enough to keep him there, but high enough that he will have to budget to make sure he can pay it.Treat him the same way you would treat a tenant who is a stranger. Treat him like the adult he wants to be.Let him do his own laundry. Make up a schedule, if necessary. He gets the weekends, you get weekdays; he gets Wednesday and Sunday, you get the rest of the time.Hire someone to mow the grass. Do not expect “family chores" from him, just as you wouldn't from a tenant who is a stranger.Put a full size fridge, a microwave, and a hot plate in his suite if there isn't a kitchen. Then take him grocery shopping and show him how to shop, and cook, on a tight budget.Do not expect him at the family dinner table every night. You will find yourself chasing him to find out when he'll be home for dinner every day. Let him set his own schedule, cook for himself, eat what he wants. If he needs cooking lessons, teach him, or sign him up for a class. After he's settled, invite him for Sunday dinner, but not every week.If he needs to be driven when he drinks too much, pick him up. Ask no questions.Try very hard not to judge as he navigates the difficult time of young adulthood. Help him get through without any life altering issues — everyone alive, no one pregnant, no record.All of this will help him learn how to organize his life successfully in the adult world while he is in a safe place. It will also provide a foundation for your future relationship, and your respect for each other.He wants to be an independent adult. Let him, and help him.It has nothing to do with whether or not you need the rent money. It has everything to do with helping your son become an adult.My son stayed for 2.5 years. It was great having him here. When he left, he got in his car and drove, alone, across the country to live in Toronto, which he felt well prepared to do. I then offered his room to a young, aspiring musician who wanted to live semi-independently, with someone around. She pays market rent, I listen to beautiful music every day, and we both have someone to talk to.If you read my thread, you'll see some of my experiences with my son as he went through young adulthood, and how we navigated to what I now consider successful adulthood.

In our 2nd yr , we gave our first year guys a fresher party  at Hotel Clarke.We hadn't taken permission from our warden , the strict Dr.  C to arrive late (i.e. 10 pm is too late for him). So when we  returned from the fresher , we found the hostel gates locked. We asked the  chowkidar to open the gates and he informed us that Dr. C had locked the hostel  and took away the keys. So we called Dr. C at his residence and asked him  to open the gates , to which he promptly said no. So we all decided that we  did not want to spend the night outside , so all of us went to his residence all  40 of us. As soon as he found 40 ppl in front of his house gates , he  panicked thinking that we had come to beat him up. So, he called the proctor who  opposite to their usual self acted quite promptly and arrived within 5 minutes.  4-5 of them got out of the sumo shouting , "Bhago yahan se warne G***d par danda  maarenge". All of us then left his place and went back to the hostel  gates.Then the proctor guards , while taking their rounds found  40 ppl at the hostel gates , stopped again and gave us a lecture for 15-20  minutes. It was already 3 am by that time. So all of us decided that we would  spend the night at the hostel gate and go to or rooms as the hostel gates opened  at 6 am. We even ordered our mess to open and make CHAI for all of us  !!!!! It seemed like 40 ppl in the middle of the night ,outside the hostel  gates having a picnic. Dr. C then called the choukidar and asked what the situation was to which he replied, "Sir, sab maze me hai, chai pee rahe hai". Dr. C then immediately arrived in  his car. He again gave  us a lecture for 30 minutes telling us about all the bad things that can happen  in Varanasi at night. Then , he gave us the famous 2 options - 1. Spend the  night outside the hostel and no harm shall be done.2. Write our names on a  register which would be sent to the rector and we all would be expelled frm our  hostels for a week or so. He thought the cold would make us choose the 2nd option but  all of us simultaneously choose the 1st option.Seeing this , he shouted ,  "That is not an option" . We all felt like laughing at his face.One by one  we wrote our names on the register and went to our rooms. As we went away from  his view , we started shouting and making a hell of a noise.To which Chandu  told the remaining students who were still writing their names : " Not at all  sorry for what u have done !!! I will see you "The result was that no action  was taken but we took a memory which i think all the members of my batch would  remember...

And a “stable, secure life” is NOT encouraged. Risk takers are NOT frowned upon.But apart from the obvious I would put one more reason - RECOGNITION.Yes, at times that “THAPPA” from the west creates more impact than all your qualities, your dedication and your good nature put together, even to your closest ones.Remember this man?Of course you do.Did you know him before 2014 when he got that “THAPPA” of Nobel?Wasn’t he working already?Aren’t we supposed to know him because he lives among us ?WhyArre THAPPA yaar THAPPAPerhaps this is why “NRI Ladka” is such a fad among upper middle class fathers looking for bridegrooms for their daughters.Forget Mr. Satyarthi, do you know this man?Whenever I talk to someone about Swami Vivekananda, the first thing people mention is his Chicago Address.Seriously? Among all his contribution to philosophy, the only thing people find worthwhile is an address to Americans.I am sure it was phenomenal, but see, even Swami Vivekananda’s biggest accomplishment is his “THAPPA” from west.Forget even him, remember this man?One of the greatest man to walk on the Earth.Do you know that his methods were unique and he was the one who made our freedom struggle mass-based and not limited to elites.But do you know one of the reasons he was able to gain such a wide popularity in congress ranks, so soon after his return from Africa in 1915, was “his contribution and works in Africa.”I am sure Mahatma Gandhi would have been a great figure even without those credentials.
