If President Trump isn't able to get the money for his wall, would you be willing to contribute to a GoFundMe account to raise the money for it?
No!!!The logistics of a BORDER WALL are WRONG: WASTE — a sham to Distract! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !Let's talk about the 'Trump Tower Wall' that you are all up in arms about.building a wall is like taking a rock to a lazer weapons battleas our veterans receive no benefits Mitch McConnell threatens Social Security cuts to lower the debt Bridges crumble and disaster funds are depleted$297 million Trump border mandate FAILTrump Administration Paid Firm Nearly $14 Million For Just2 new border patrol recruitsin 10 monthsA scathing report by the Office of the Inspector General revealed that a consulting company hired by U.S. Customs and Border Protection to fill thousands of new jobs tosatisfy President Trump's mandate to secure the southern borderis "nowhere near" completing its hiring goals and "risks WASTING (297) millions of taxpayer dollars."https://www.npr.org/2018/12/11/6...The logistics of a BORDER WALL are WRONG:600 miles of the Texas border is unfenced because of treaty provisions, private-property rights, litigation and FLOODPLAINS. Near where Texas meets the Gulf of Mexico, the existing parts of the wall are located WELL INTO AMERICAN TERRITORY. This is another geographic problem that leads to a political problem. Because of protections against building in the FLOOD PLAIN of the Rio Grande (where the TRUMP wall would be impossible to build, let alone to maintain), the wall is built more inland, stranding farms and golf courses on the other side of the wall (border). ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !Illegal immigration is a few problemsBorder Overstays Sex traffickingAlmost 50% of illegal immigrants come into the US - LEGALLY - and overstay their visa. More than half of those are not from Mexico https://www.brookings.edu/essay/.../FY 2017 was “the lowest level of illegal cross-border migration on record,” according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. https://www.forbes.com/sites/stu.../experts point out that at least five of the hijackers in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist plot were visa overstayshttps://www.washingtontimes.com/.../Thousands of illegal immigrants are sex trafficking victims. The U.S. Justice Department estimates that 14,500–17,500 people are trafficked into the country every year. What’s more, these are proven—not estimated—costs. With delays, overruns and other familiar features of the government contracting landscape, the $22 billion WALL estimate may well be optimistic. The proven track record of the drone program comes in at a fraction of that cost.https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/...Also: We need to question 'for profit detainment' and apply the funds to more proficient deportation:November 16, 2018 - Number of migrant children in US custody hits record high15,000x$775 = $11,625,000 per day paid by US Detaining immigrant kids is now a billion-dollar industryhttps://apnews.com/289b015df6e94...ICE Is Throwing A Record Number Of 18-Year-Olds Into Adult Detention On Their BirthdaysNeglecting lawful interviews of sponsors means teenagers are being shackled and sent to adult detention at unprecedented rates.Besides the glaring FAIL of the TRUMP border mandate, the wall comes with many costs. The most obvious is the large financial outlay required to build it, in whatever form it eventually takes. Although during the election campaign candidate Trump claimed that the wall would cost only $12 billion (now he's saying only $5 billion), a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) internal report in February put the cost at $21.6 billion, but that may be a major underestimate. Our country faces debt- inflation - reckoning under the corruption of our government. One catastrophic solar flare will send this entire country back to the 1900s because the electrical grid - that is 50 years overdue for an overhaul - will fail. There is NO PLAN against cyberwarfare designed to cripple or take down the power grids, the 911 services, or entire water systems.TRUMP is bulldozing environmental laws for a better present bottom line.https://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/...A wall is a simplistically WRONG idea that would not fix the our country's safety and security problems. --------------------Let US get busy on our real issues!PENTAGON: "We failed the audit, but we never expected to pass it."At least a mind-boggling$21 TRILLIONof Pentagon financial transactions between 1998 and 2015 could not be traced, documented, or explained. While the audit report did not call out specific instances of fraud, it did point to “signNow information technology systems security issues” caused by very basic, nontechnical oversights like leaving departed employees’ IT permissions in place. The findings added to concerns raised by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) which noted that nearly every U.S. weapons system suffers from a “critical” cybersecurity vulnerability. On November 15, private firms that were hired to audit the Pentagon announced that they could not complete the job.Congress ordered an independent audit of the Department of Defense, the government’s largest discretionary cost center—the Pentagon receives 54 cents out of every dollar in federal appropriations—after the Pentagon failed for decades to audit itself. The firms concluded, however, that the DoD’s financial records were riddled with so many bookkeeping deficiencies, irregularities, and errors that a reliable audit was simply impossible. This practice VIOLATESArticle I Section 9 of theUS Constitutionwhich stipulates thatNo Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published. On September 10, 2001, Donald Rumsfeld, the notorious micromanaging secretary of defense during the Bush/Cheney administration, called a dramatic press conference at the Pentagon to make a startling announcement. Referring to the huge military budget that was his official responsibility, he said,“We cannot track $2.3 trillion in Pentagon transactions.” This shocking news that an amount more than five times as large as the Pentagon’s FY 2001 budget of an estimated $313 billion was lost or even just “untrackable” was—at least for one 24-hour news cycle—a big national story, as was Secretary Rumsfeld’s comment that America’s adversary was not China or Russia, but rather was “closer to home: It’s the Pentagon bureaucracy.” Equally stunning was Rumsfeld’s warning that the tracking down of those missing transactions “could be…a matter of life and death.” No Pentagon leader had ever before said such a thing, nor has anyone done so since then. But Rumsfeld’s exposé died quickly as, the following morning on September 11, four hijacked commercial jet planes plowed full speed into the two World Trade Center towers, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania. So here’s the situation: We have a Pentagon budget that a former DOD internal-audit supervisor, Jack Armstrong, bluntly labels “garbage.” We have a Congress unable to evaluate each new fiscal year’s proposed Pentagon budget because it cannot know how much money was actually spent during prior years. And we have a Department of Defense that gives only lip service to fixing any of this. Why should it? The status quo has been generating ever-higher DoD budgets for decades, not to mention bigger profits for Boeing, Lockheed, and other military contractors. This deserves flag waving and marching to Congressional ATTENTION.It is essential that the Pentagon demonstrates that it is trustworthy and accountable with taxpayer dollars! We must examine our grossly inflated military budget and use the savings to reinvest in America.(quotes from Washington Post, The New York Times,The Nation)Every gun that is made, everywarship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.Dwight D. What are the darkest secrets of World War II?
Millions of European but mostly German women were raped by the Soviets, Millions of Germans died after the war as a result of the allies behavior. The British and Americans continued to bomb Germany right up to the last minute knowing the war was over and it would be the Allies to clean up the mess. I understand that on Hitler’s last birthday the Americans gave him a gift by sending in a 1000 bomber raid on Berlin with the war ending just two weeks later. Stupid. Whenever the Americans sent in a 1000 bomber daylight raid they usually lost at least 50 bombers with ten men in each plane. These bombers could of been used to help our soldiers in the field to help defeat the German ground forces saving allied lives instead of killing innocent German civilians. The Russians would send in tens of thousands of men into battle with many not having any weapons. They were told to pick up weapons as they were found. The city of Leningrad became surrounded early in the war. Supplies came in over a large lake that the Germans had not taken complete control over. In the 900 days of the siege, over 1,100,000 Russians died in the city, mostly of starvation. In December of the first year, 59,000 people died, January 130,000, February 130,000. Total deaths by the end of the first year were 780,000. Of the 30,000 doctors and 100,000 nurses in Leningrad, only half would survive the war. 1.5 million people were evacuated during the siege. Many died in transit. The population of the city was 2.2 million at the beginning of the war only 630,000 were left at wars end.

Are things actually bad in Venezuela or is that capitalist propaganda?
I think Daniel Milán’s answer was pretty much it, however, I want to give you a different point of view, something more of a day in the life of a (with difficulty, but still, middle class) Venezuelan.Right now it's 10 52pm. Today, I'm coming home to spend my two remaining weeks of holidays in the comfort of my own house. My boyfriend had to ask one of his bosses if he could give us a lift in his car, since he lives in the same town as me. If he hadn't, I would have had to spend, at least, three to four hours at my usual bus stop, hoping any bus would come and pick me (and about two hundred more people) up before nightfall. I actually got lucky and left his house at 1pm and was in my town at about 2pm. Then, I met with my mother and cousins (I had one backpack, one suitcase, two handbags and a plastic bag with 6kg in it), so I could get home safely and with some help.I was walking down a boulevard with my mum and a kid no older than 7 started running up the street yelling that ‘corn flour had arrived at one of the mini markets’. When we heard the kid, I asked my mum if she wanted to buy some and she said yes, so, naturally, we started queueing. There were no more than 30 people. It was 3pm. National guards got there, a bunch of people got there, and, by the time it was 7pm, I was still queueing, one of my cousins had been forcefully removed by one of the guards, my mum had left the queue hours ago (because someone had tried to cut a bag she had with margherine, mayonnaise, and coffee, mind you. That alone was about 3 minimum wages and half of a 4th one) and I was there, unable to breathe properly, being pushed and shoved by strangers who grabbed my hair or pushed their elbows against my neck/throat just because, and also unable to get out of the queue. By the time I got to the front, it was more like a big circle of people pushing each other.I finally got my two stupid kilograms of flour, that I now kind of regret because I lost too many hours and risked fainting in a crowd that would have just walked over me as I fainted. I will never do that again, simply because, both the police forces, and the people, don't give a rat's ass about anyone else other than themselves.People here are killing each other just to survive, and what they get is not enough. There is no culture, there is no respect for one another. It’s hell.Edit: grammar.

What are some amazing events of World War II that most of us haven't heard about?
Being a Marine I know about the Pacific War than the European. The turning point in the war according to the Japanese at the time was the Battle for Guadalcanal. The Japanese realized that if Guadalcanal was lost then we would march island by island to the doorstep of their country. This is of course what happened. The battle of the island itself pitted Marines against superior Japanese forces. Between the Japanese and the malaria the Marines were in bad shape. None-the-less they were able to defend the airfield, which was the reason we attached there, and held on against the Tokyo Express. Every night Japanese ships would shell the Marines. Because the Navy feared the Japanese fleet supply ships were evacuated leaving the Marines without food, water and ammunition. The Marine Corps’ First Division’s shoulder patch still commemorates the battle.Although the Japanese outnumbered the Marines they had supply problems as well. The Japanese attacked in what were called Banzai attacks. It was hard for the Marines to fathom how anyone could attack standing up and coming in wave after wave. Both sides suffered many casualties. The Japanese, out of food and water, had to retreat back through the jungle. Hundreds of Japanese died of hunger or dysentery caused by the dirty water they were forced to drink. The Japanese refer to Guadalcanal as Starvation Island. The Japanese made a brilliant withdrawal at night in the first few days of February, 1943.The Navy was surprised in a night battle by the Japanese Fleet. The Navy lost four cruisers and some destroyers that night. One of the cruisers sunk was the Juneau taking with her all 5 of the Sullivan brothers. It was the worst defeat of the war for the Navy. The Navy lost two high ranking admirals that night. They were the highest ranking Naval officers to lose their lives in WWII. Soon there was another naval battle and the Japanese retreated snatching defeat out of the mouth of victory. The Navy finally won the naval battle of Guadalcanal. They managed to keep Japanese reinforcements and supplies f rom signNowing the island. The battle is remembered for the gallant fight the Marines and soldiers put up. What isn’t know is that the Navy lost more men killed in the Battle for Guadalcanal than the Marines.1943 spelled the turning point in the Pacific as well as in Europe. The Germans lost the submarine war in May/June and their army was defeat at Stalingrad and Kirsch. The only thing left for the combats to do was the bleeding and the dying. There is a however, however. Any battle that a soldier survived was amazing to him. There were thousands of amazing miracles that happen in any war. Survival and death is oft time a matter of inches. Any man who wears a combat ribbon or metal can tell you of the amazing things that can happen.

How could Japan forgive the atom bombs?
You could say it was the lesser of two evils. The government of Imperial Japan was, by most standards, a remarkably evil government. Through their actions, depending on the estimate you prefer, between 5.4 million people and about 20 million people in Asia died during WW2 - World War II casualties. In 1945, it is estimated that between 100,000 and 250,000 civilians in Asia, mostly civilians in China, were dying each month because of the actions of the Japanese military. If you want to know more specifically about the worst parts, you can read about the human vivisection and the bacterial warfare carried out on Chinese civilians by Japan's Unit 731 and of, course, about the Nanking Massacre, also called 'the Rape of Nanking.'Let's remember that the Japanese government started the war, and prosecuted it with a remarkable ferocity. They were the villains, not the victims. If the Japanese people, civilians, could be considered victims, then they were the victims of their own government, the willing victims. Of course, misguided and misinformed. So the Japanese were actively working to conquer China and many parts of Asia, and the Chinese, Koreans, Thai, Americans, Australians, etc. were opposed. The Allies agreed, per the Potsdam declaration that the only acceptable surrender was unconditional. The Japanese government toyed with the idea of conditional surrender, in which there would be no change of government in Japan, no war crimes trials, and no loss of conquered territory. As a bargaining position, the Japanese government had armed civilians to oppose the scheduled invasion of Japan, armed them with bamboo spears so that they could fight the Americans, who would invade with tanks, machine guns, fighter airplanes, artillery. But his minimum program was to satisfy the national honor with a gigantic final bloodbath, which would also force the US to accept retention of something resembling Japan’s prewar political system when the time came to talk peace. The dimensions of the proposed slaughter can be judged from the forces that were being mustered to resist an American landing: 2,350,000 soldiers of the regular army my backed up by 250,000 garrison troops; the entire remnants of the navy and all the airplanes in Japan, including training planes and numbering about seven thousand; 4 million civilian employees of the two services; and the whole civilian militia of 28 million men, women, and boys.Their idea was that the resulting bloodbath would cost the Americans so many lives, that the Americans would be forced to negotiate. America estimated five to ten million Japanese would die, the Japanese estimates were higher, up to 20 million Japanese would die. So the Imperial Government was willing to spend five to ten million Japanese lives to continue its horrible misrule. By 1945, there was no possibility that Japan could win the war. None. Virtually all imports (food, fuel, medicine) to Japan were cut off. Japan was months away from mass starvation. Japan's air force was destroyed or grounded, its navy sunk or trapped, its factories, steel mills, ports all in ruins. The ferries that brought coal from the mines of Hokkaido to Honshu were destroyed. American bombers turned Japan's factories and cities into ash virtually unopposed, burning 16 square miles of Tokyo in one night - March 9:Damage to Tokyo's heavy industry was slight until firebombing destroyed much of the light industry that was used as an integral source for small machine parts and time-intensive processes. Firebombing also killed or made homeless many workers who had been taking part in war industry. Over 50% of Tokyo's industry was spread out among residential and commercial neighborhoods; firebombing cut the whole city's output in half. Bombing of Tokyo In the face of all of this, the military leaders of Japan were opposed to surrender. Real discussion of surrender only happened when the emperor insisted, after the destruction of Nagasaki. Even in the face of this, the military was opposed, so opposed that when the Emperor insisted on surrender, there was an attempted coup d'etat to imprison the emperor and prevent the surrender. So, you could consider that the immolation of roughly 200,000 Japanese at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was the price they paid for forcing the surrender, and getting rid of their government. A truly horrible price, but far better than the millions of Japanese who would have certainly died in the invasion. And when it was all over, the Americans helped Japan rebuild. The Nuking Of Japan Was Tactically And Morally Justified Was the Hiroshima Bomb Necessary?
