I have quite a few takes on this because I have had these thoughts throughout my university experience and, just like you, found it a bit difficult to figure out project ideas for the summer. 1. Ponder about what you do every day and consider what should be done to make your life more convenient. Having an idea to make your life easier makes a project much more meaningful than having someone else create a project for you. If you are able to think of a situation where an application can make your life more convenient, you should reflect on your toolbox of skills. What tools do you have at your disposal that you think will help you in making this application a reality. After that, you'll have an idea of what you can do towards making the application a reality. Of course, not everyone has every single tool easily available for them to create an application immediately. If there are skills you believe are necessary to learn, take the time to look up tutorials or possible classes on Coursera or other MOOC websites. 2. Registered on GitHub if you haven't already because it is a great site to view open-source projects. There's always several interesting applications out there that have features that could be improved on or added onto the application.3. Take someone else's project suggestion and see if it's interesting enough to pursue. It may sound hypocritical of me to suggest this especially since in the first point I mentioned how it is much more meaningful to have a project that makes your life easier, but sometimes you end up with a brick wall. If you have experience with C#, I would definitely recommend checking out Unity, though there are several other game engines out there such as Unreal, Game Maker, etc.
